An Iranian engineer working on the captured US drone has said that Iran exploited a weakness in the craft's navigation system to hijack it. The aircraft was downed through a relatively unsophisticated cyber-attack that tricked its global positioning systems (GPS). The technique, known as " GPS spoofing " has been around for several years, and the Iranians began studying it in 2007, the engineer reportedly said. The U.S. Department of Energy notes that GPS is widely used, but insecure, although few users have taken note. GPS signals for the U.S. military are similarly insecure, and drones often rely on signals from multiple satellites. It's possible to spoof unencrypted civilian GPS systems. 1.8 Million Accounts Hacked from Square Enix Japanese Game Company Square Enix stated yesterday that somebody " may have gained unauthorized access to a particular Square Enix server " and took its members service offline in both Japan and the U.S. Today, the company clarified that 1.8 million customer's accounts had been affected. The company said it noticed that unknown parties had accessed the server for its free " Square Enix Members " site on Tuesday afternoon, and decided to shut down the service the same day. Users register on the server with their email addresses and sometimes their names, addresses and phone numbers, but the server holds no credit card information, a spokesman said. The intruder breached an unknown number of servers that could hold data for the service's one million members in Japan and 800,000 members in North America, but left untouched the servers with its 300,000 European members. In May, Square Enix said it suffered hackin...

Exposing 25 Facebook phishing websites Geeks at Security Web-Center Found 25 Facebook and list them. Sometimes spammers create fake pages that look like the Facebook login page. When you enter your email and password on one of these pages, the spammer records your information and keeps it. This is called phishing . The fake sites, like the one below, use a similar URL to Facebook.com in an attempt to steal people's login information. The people behind these websites, then use the information to access victims' accounts and send messages to their friends, further propagating the illegitimate sites. Possible Credit Card Theft in Steam Website Hacking Valve CEO Gabe Newell has contacted all users of the Steam game distribution platform to let them know that the company has suffered a security breach. Right before going offline, users saw a new category in the forum that directed them to open a site named "Fkn0wned." Many users also complained that their email ids related to Steam accounts were "spammed with ads for the web site. Valve recommends all users to keep closely watched the activity of their credit cards because the hackers had access to that information during the attack. Duqu Trojan found in Indian Server Last week we update you about Duqu when Symantec said it had found a mysterious computer virus that contained code similar to Stuxnet, a piece of malware believed to have wreaked havoc on Iran's nuclear program. Two workers at a web-hosting company called Web Werks told Reuters that officials from India's Department of Information Technology last week took several hard drives and other components from a server that security firm Symantec Corp told them was communicating with computers infected with Duqu. The equipment seized from Web Werks, a privately held company in Mumbai with about 200 employees, might hold valuable data to help investigators determine who built Duqu and how it can be used. Adobe Flash bug allow spying Webcam hole The flaw was disclosed in 2008 and can be exploited to turn on people's webcams or microphones without their knowledge. Attack involved putting the Adobe Flash Settings Manager page into an iFrame and masking it with a game, so that when the user clicked on the buttons he would actually change the settings and turn on the webcam. Adobe is working on a fix for a Flash Player vulnerability that can be exploited via clickjacking techniques to turn on people's webcams or microphones without their knowledge.The issue was discovered by a Stanford University computer science student named Feross Aboukhadijeh who based his proof-of-concept exploit on a similar one disclosed back in 2008 by an anonymous researcher.
