Amazon Uncovers Attacks Exploited Cisco ISE and Citrix NetScaler as Zero-Day Flaws

Amazon Uncovers Attacks Exploited Cisco ISE and Citrix NetScaler as Zero-Day Flaws

Nov 12, 2025 Network Security / Zero-Day
Amazon's threat intelligence team on Wednesday disclosed that it observed an advanced threat actor exploiting two then-zero-day security flaws in Cisco Identity Service Engine (ISE) and Citrix NetScaler ADC products as part of attacks designed to deliver custom malware. "This discovery highlights the trend of threat actors focusing on critical identity and network access control infrastructure – the systems enterprises rely on to enforce security policies and manage authentication across their networks," CJ Moses, CISO of Amazon Integrated Security, said in a report shared with The Hacker News. The attacks were flagged by its MadPot honeypot network, with the activity weaponizing the following two vulnerabilities - CVE-2025-5777 or Citrix Bleed 2 (CVSS score: 9.3) - An insufficient input validation vulnerability in Citrix NetScaler ADC and Gateway that could be exploited by an attacker to bypass authentication. (Fixed by Citrix in June 2025 ) CVE-2025-20337 (CV...

Cisco Confirms It's Been Hacked by Yanluowang Ransomware Gang

Aug 11, 2022
Networking equipment major Cisco on Wednesday confirmed it was the victim of a cyberattack on May 24, 2022 after the attackers got hold of an employee's personal Google account that contained passwords synced from their web browser. "Initial access to the Cisco VPN was achieved via the successful compromise of a Cisco employee's personal Google account," Cisco Talos  said  in a detailed write-up. "The user had enabled password syncing via Google Chrome and had stored their Cisco credentials in their browser, enabling that information to synchronize to their Google account." The disclosure comes as cybercriminal actors associated with the Yanluowang ransomware gang  published a list of files  from the breach to their data leak site on August 10. The exfiltrated information, according to Talos, included the contents of a Box cloud storage folder that was associated with the compromised employee's account and is not believed to have included any valuabl...

Leaked Black Basta Ransomware Chat Logs Reveal Inner Workings and Internal Conflicts

Feb 26, 2025 Ransomware / Cyber Threat
More than a year's worth of internal chat logs from a ransomware gang known as Black Basta have been published online in a leak that provides unprecedented visibility into their tactics and internal conflicts among its members. The Russian-language chats on the Matrix messaging platform between September 18, 2023, and September 28, 2024, were initially leaked on February 11, 2025, by an individual who goes by the handle ExploitWhispers , who claimed that they released the data because the group was targeting Russian banks. The identity of the leaker remains a mystery. Black Basta first came under the spotlight in April 2022, using the now-largely-defunct QakBot (aka QBot) as a delivery vehicle. According to an advisory published by the U.S. government in May 2024, the double extortion crew is estimated to have targeted more than 500 private industry and critical infrastructure entities in North America, Europe, and Australia. Per Elliptic and Corvus Insurance, the prolific r...

Qilin Ransomware Combines Linux Payload With BYOVD Exploit in Hybrid Attack

Oct 27, 2025 Ransomware / Threat Intelligence
The ransomware group known as Qilin (aka Agenda, Gold Feather, and Water Galura) has claimed more than 40 victims every month since the start of 2025, barring January, with the number of postings on its data leak site touching a high of 100 cases in June. The development comes as the ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) operation has emerged as one of the most active ransomware groups , accounting for 84 victims each in the months of August and September 2025. The Russian-speaking threat group emerged around July 2022. According to data compiled by Cisco Talos, the U.S., Canada, the U.K., France, and Germany are some of the countries most impacted by Qilin. The attacks have primarily singled out manufacturing (23%), professional and scientific services (18%), and wholesale trade (10%) sectors. Attacks mounted by Qilin affiliates have likely leveraged leaked administrative credentials on the dark web for initial access using a VPN interface, followed by performing RDP connections to th...
