Multiple Vulnerability in McAfee Website , XSS and Other Attacks !

Mar 29, 2011
Multiple Vulnerability in McAfee Website , XSS and Other Attacks ! Researchers at the YGN Ethical Hacker Group have revealed multiple security vulnerabilities found in the McAfee.com website that leaves the company's portal susceptible to attacks and data leakage. The group found that the McAfee website contains flaws that also pose a threat to users, such as a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the site where customers can download software. XSS vulnerabilities allow attackers to bypass controls and inject script, meaning a hacker could potentially lead users to download malicious files when they believe they are accessing approved McAfee software. The YGN Ethical Hacker Group also found eighteen instances of source code disclosure which gives attackers an advantage in preparing attacks, as they can search for flaws in how the application handles data in the user interface, as well as allow the attacker to set up a practice version of the application for experimenta

How to Make Your Employees Your First Line of Cyber Defense

How to Make Your Employees Your First Line of Cyber Defense

May 01, 2024Security Awareness Training
There's a natural human desire to avoid threatening scenarios. The irony, of course, is if you hope to attain any semblance of security, you've got to remain prepared to confront those very same threats. As a decision-maker for your organization, you know this well. But no matter how many experts or trusted cybersecurity tools your organization has a standing guard, you're only as secure as your weakest link. There's still one group that can inadvertently open the gates to unwanted threat actors—your own people. Security must be second nature for your first line of defense For your organization to thrive, you need capable employees. After all, they're your source for great ideas, innovation, and ingenuity. However, they're also human. And humans are fallible. Hackers understand no one is perfect, and that's precisely what they seek to exploit. This is why your people must become your first line of defense against cyber threats. But to do so, they need to learn how to defend thems

Google patches 6 serious Chrome bugs

Mar 25, 2011
Google on Thursday patched six vulnerabilities in Chrome, and as usual, silently updated users' copies of the browser. The update to Chrome 10.0.648.204 also included two more blacklisted SSL certificates that may be related to last week's theft of nine digital certificates from a Comodo reseller. All six bugs were rated "high," Google's second-most-serious ranking in its threat scoring system. Of the half-dozen bugs, two were "use after free" flaws -- a type of memory management bug that can be exploited to inject attack code -- while a second pair were pegged by Google as "stale pointer" vulnerabilities, another kind of memory allocation flaw. As is Google's practice, the company locked down its bug-tracking database, blocking access to the technical details of the patched vulnerabilities. Google usually unlocks the bug entries several weeks, sometimes months later, to give users time to update before the information goes public. G

Microsoft discloses vulnerabilities in Chrome and Opera Microsoft has issued two advisories on Chrome and Opera, detailing remote code execution and information disclosure vulnerabilities. The disclosure is the result of the Microsoft Vulnerability Research (MSVR) system going live, which is one of the core items within their Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure (CVD) program. On Tuesday, Microsoft issued an MSRV Advisory related to use-after-free memory errors in Google's Chrome, which, if exploited, would have triggered a crash and allowed remote code execution in the browsers sandbox. "When attempting to parse specially crafted Web content, Google Chrome references memory that has been freed. An attacker could exploit the vulnerability to cause the browser to become unresponsive and/or exit unexpectedly, allowing an attacker to run arbitrary code within the Google Chrome Sandbox," the advisory explains. Google has addressed the issue in a patch delivered last September. Vers
