Android P to Block Apps From Monitoring Device Network Activity

Android P to Block Apps From Monitoring Device Network Activity

May 07, 2018
Do you know that any app you have installed on your Android phone can monitor the network activities—even without asking for any sensitive permission—to detect when other apps on your phone are connecting to the Internet? Obviously, they cant see the content of the network traffic, but can easily find to which server you are connecting to, all without your knowledge. Knowing what apps you often use, which could be a competing or a financial app, "shady" or "malicious" app can abuse this information in various ways to breach your privacy. But it seems like Google has planned to address this serious privacy issue with the release of its next flagship mobile operating system. With Android P, any app will no longer be able to detect when other apps on your Android device are connecting to the Internet, according to the new code changes in Android Open Source Project (AOSP) first noticed by XDA Developers. "A new commit has appeared in the Android Open S...

Fingerprinting the author of the ZeuS Botnet !

May 12, 2011
The source code of the ZeuS Botnet is now available for  Download . Derek Jones  (the author this article) imagine there are a few organizations who would like to talk to the author(s) of this code. All developers have coding habits, that is they usually have a particular way of writing each coding construct. Different developers have different sets of habits and sometimes individual developers have a way of writing some language construct that is rarely used by other developers. Are developer habits sufficiently unique that they can be used to identify individuals from their code? I don’t have enough data to answer that question. Reading through the C++ source of ZeuS I spotted a few unusual usage patterns (I don’t know enough about common usage patterns in PHP to say much about this source) which readers might like to look for in code they encounter, perhaps putting name to the author of this code. The source is written in C++ (32.5 KLOC of client source) and...

Yahoo! Blind SQL Injection could lead to data leakage

Apr 26, 2013
It seems that 2013 is the " Data Leakage Year "! Many customers' information and confidential data have been published on the internet coming from government institutions, famous vendors, and companies too. Ebrahim Hegazy(@Zigoo0) an Egyptian information security advisor who found a high severity vulnerability in " Avira license daemon " days ago, is on the news again, but this time for finding and reporting Blind SQL Injection vulnerability in one of Yahoo! E-marketing applications. SQL Injection vulnerabilities are ranked as Critical vulnerabilities, because if used by Hackers it will cause a database breach which will lead to confidential information leakage. A time based blind SQL Injection web vulnerability is detected in the official Yahoo! TW YSM Marketing Application Service. The vulnerability allows remote attackers to inject own SQL commands to breach the database of that vulnerable application and get access to the user data. ...

Call spoofing - Evolution of Cybercrime in Growing Children The Hacker News & 5 Other Top IT Security Sites are Sponsoring a Special Edition January 2012 Magazine under a Cyber Security Awareness Campaign called " ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK ". Our goal is to provide the most up-to-date information on a wide variety of topics that address the tricky and complicated world of hackers and hacking. Lets know about " Call spoofing " and How much easy it is for kids to do Call spoofing. First of all the term ‘ cyber crime ’ is a misnomer. The concept of cyber crime is not radically different from the concept of conventional crime. Both include conduct whether act or omission, which cause breach of rules of law and counterbalanced by the sanction of the state. Any criminal activity that uses a computer either as an instrumentality, target or a means for perpetuating further crimes comes within the ambit of cyber crime. The computer may be used as a tool in the follo...
Yahoo's New DMARC Policy Destroys Every Mailing List across the World

Yahoo's New DMARC Policy Destroys Every Mailing List across the World

Apr 08, 2014
Yahoo! The one who enabled the HTTPS connections by default from the beginning of this year, the one who encrypts traffic moving between its data centers from 31st March , now has been accused of harming every  Mailing List  across the world. Experts from the Internet Engineering Council John R. Levine , specialized in email infrastructure and spam filtering claimed this in the post titled “ Yahoo breaks every mailing list in the world including the IETF's. ” on Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). Yahoo has established a new rule to automatically exclude Yahoo users from the mailing list, because Mailing List server does not comply with DMARC requirements and they strongly modifies each email. He talks about an “ emerging e-mail security scheme ” known as Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance (DMARC) that has been implemented by almost every largest email service providers, including Gmail, Hotmail, Comcast, and Yahoo. DMARC helps to reduce ...

How Does DMARC Prevent Phishing?

How Does DMARC Prevent Phishing?

Sep 27, 2021
DMARC  is a global standard for email authentication. It allows senders to verify that the email really comes from whom it claims to come from. This helps curb spam and phishing attacks, which are among the most prevalent cybercrimes of today. Gmail, Yahoo, and many other large email providers have implemented DMARC and praised its benefits in recent years. If your company's domain name is bankofamerica.com, you do not want a cyber attacker to be able to send emails under that domain. This puts your brand reputation at risk and could potentially spread financial malware. The DMARC standard prevents this by checking whether emails are sent from an expected IP address or domain. It specifies how domains can be contacted if there are authentication or migration issues and provides forensic information so senders can monitor email traffic and quarantine suspicious emails. What is a Phishing Attack? Phishing is an attempt by cybercriminals to trick victims into giving away sensitive...

How to Effectively Prevent Email Spoofing Attacks in 2021?

How to Effectively Prevent Email Spoofing Attacks in 2021?

Mar 29, 2021
Email spoofing is a growing problem for an organization's security. Spoofing occurs when a hacker sends an email that appears to have been sent from a trusted source/domain. Email spoofing is not a new concept. Defined as "the forgery of an email address header to make the message appear as if it was sent from a person or location other than the actual sender," it has plagued brands for decades.  When an email is sent, the From address doesn't show which server the email was actually sent from - instead, it shows the domain that was entered when the address was created so as not to arouse suspicion among recipients. With the amount of data flowing through email servers these days, it should come as no surprise that spoofing is a problem for businesses. At the end of 2020, we found that phishing incidents were up a staggering 220% year-over-year at the height of the global pandemic scare. Since not all spoofing attacks are large-scale, the actual number could be muc...
World's Largest Web Hosting company 'LeaseWeb' Hacked by KDMS Team

World's Largest Web Hosting company 'LeaseWeb' Hacked by KDMS Team

Oct 05, 2013
LeaseWeb , one of the World's largest hosting provider has been defaced by Palestinian hackers, named as KDMS Team . LeaseWeb was also hosting provider for one of the biggest file-sharing website Megaupload in the past. Later Megaupload Founder, Kim Dotcom claimed that  Leaseweb had deleted all Megaupload user data from 690 servers without warning. The hacker group replaced the Homepage of the website for just a few hours with an Anonymous Palestine , homepage titled " You Got Pwned " and the defacement message says: Hello Lease Web Who Are You ? Who is but the form following the function of what and what are you is a hosting company with no security KDMS Team : Well ,, We Can See That :P We noticed that Attacker has just changed the DNS server to point the Domain to another server at 67.23.254.6, owned by the attacker. At the time of writing, Leaseweb team resolved the issue and get their Domain back to the original server . But becau...

Android Malware FvncBot, SeedSnatcher, and ClayRat Gain Stronger Data Theft Features

Dec 08, 2025 Malware / Mobile Security
Cybersecurity researchers have disclosed details of two new Android malware families dubbed FvncBot and SeedSnatcher , as another upgraded version of ClayRat has been spotted in the wild. The findings come from Intel 471 , CYFIRMA , and Zimperium , respectively. FvncBot, which masquerades as a security app developed by mBank, targets mobile banking users in Poland. What's notable about the malware is that it's completely written from scratch and is not inspired by other Android banking trojans like ERMAC that have had their source code leaked. The malware "implemented multiple features including keylogging by abusing Android’s accessibility services, web-inject attacks, screen streaming and hidden virtual network computing (HVNC) to perform successful financial fraud," Intel 471 said. Similar to the recently uncovered Albiriox banking malware, the malware is protected by a crypting service known as apk0day that's offered by Golden Crypt. The malicious a...
How to Hack WiFi Password Easily Using New Attack On WPA/WPA2

How to Hack WiFi Password Easily Using New Attack On WPA/WPA2

Nov 25, 2018
Looking for how to hack WiFi password OR WiFi hacking software? Well, a security researcher has revealed a new WiFi hacking technique that makes it easier for hackers to crack WiFi passwords of most modern routers. Discovered by the lead developer of the popular password-cracking tool Hashcat, Jens 'Atom' Steube, the new WiFi hack works explicitly against WPA/WPA2 wireless network protocols with Pairwise Master Key Identifier (PMKID)-based roaming features enabled. The attack to compromise the WPA/WPA2 enabled WiFi networks was accidentally discovered by Steube while he was analyzing the newly-launched WPA3 security standard . This new WiFi hacking method could potentially allow attackers to recover the Pre-shared Key (PSK) login passwords, allowing them to hack into your Wi-Fi network and eavesdrop on the Internet communications. How to Hack WiFi Password Using PMKID According to the researcher, the previously known WiFi hacking methods require attackers to wai...
