Is Anonnews (Anonymous News Portal) run with support of United States Govt. ?

Mar 07, 2011
Anonymous Internet users discovered Thursday that the United States Government plays a major role in the day-to-day operations of the most popular Internet news source used by internet activists, or "hacktivists." Anonnews.org claims to serve decentralized hacker group Anonymous as its central source of information, including targets and Anonymous press releases, which anyone can submit. A number of Internet users frequenting both the chronicle.SU and anonnews.org websites discovered that the website selectively runs articles that only fall in line with the agenda of the U.S. Government, and brought this to the attention of chronicle.SU senior executives. As perhaps only a handful of our readers know, anonnews.org, whose slogan is Everything Anonymous, actively deletes any and all content submissions originating from chronicle.SU. We have fought this for a long time, out of fairness to Anonymous and outside objectors, but we too have come to realize anonnews.org is either owned by, or...

⚡ Weekly Recap: APT Intrusions, AI Malware, Zero-Click Exploits, Browser Hijacks and More

Jun 02, 2025 Cybersecurity / Hacking News
If this had been a security drill, someone would've said it went too far. But it wasn't a drill—it was real. The access? Everything looked normal. The tools? Easy to find. The detection? Came too late. This is how attacks happen now—quiet, convincing, and fast. Defenders aren't just chasing hackers anymore—they're struggling to trust what their systems are telling them. The problem isn't too few alerts. It's too many, with no clear meaning. One thing is clear: if your defense still waits for obvious signs, you're not protecting anything. You're just watching it happen. This recap highlights the moments that mattered—and why they're worth your attention. ⚡ Threat of the Week APT41 Exploits Google Calendar for Command-and-Control — The Chinese state-sponsored threat actor known as APT41 deployed a malware called TOUGHPROGRESS that uses Google Calendar for command-and-control (C2). Google said it observed the spear-phishing attacks in October 2024 and that the malware was hosted on...
A New Flaw In Zoom Could Have Let Fraudsters Mimic Organisations

A New Flaw In Zoom Could Have Let Fraudsters Mimic Organisations

Jul 16, 2020
In a report shared with The Hacker News, researchers at cybersecurity firm CheckPoint today disclosed details of a minor but easy-to-exploit flaw they reported in Zoom, the highly popular and widely used video conferencing software. The latest Zoom flaw could have allowed attackers mimic an organization, tricking its employees or business partners into revealing personal or other confidential information using social engineering tricks. We know, social engineering attacks may sound a bit boring, but someone used the same to put Twitter on fire just last night when hundreds of high-profile Twitter accounts were hacked to promote a cryptocurrency scam, all thanks to an employee's compromised internal tooling account. The said vulnerability resides in Zoom's customizable URL feature dubbed Vanity URL, aiming to let companies create a custom URL on its subdomain and branded landing page, such as " yourcompany.zoom.us, " where the invitation link to a meeting then...

#SOPA - The Hacker News say " NO WAY " Get mad and take action as you read how your internet privacy and freedoms are about to be taken away in our editor Patti Galle 's article on SOPA…….coming to your personal rights soon. The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), or H.R. 3261, is a bill that was introduced on October 26, 2011 in the United States House of Representatives, by right-wing Texas Republican, Representative Lamar Smith and twelve initial co-sponsors. The Stop Online Piracy Act dramatically broadens the capacity of United States law enforcement and copyright holders to fight online trafficking in copyrighted intellectual property and counterfeit goods. Proponents of bill H.R. 3261 state SOPA protects the intellectual property market and related industry, jobs and revenue, and is essential to reinforce and strengthen enforcement of copyright laws particularly against foreign websites. Opponents of the bill forcefully deem that the bill infringes on First Amendment rights, is e...

⚡ Weekly Recap — SharePoint Breach, Spyware, IoT Hijacks, DPRK Fraud, Crypto Drains and More

Jul 28, 2025
Some risks don't breach the perimeter—they arrive through signed software, clean resumes, or sanctioned vendors still hiding in plain sight. This week, the clearest threats weren't the loudest—they were the most legitimate-looking. In an environment where identity, trust, and tooling are all interlinked, the strongest attack path is often the one that looks like it belongs. Security teams are now challenged to defend systems not just from intrusions—but from trust itself being turned into a weapon. ⚡ Threat of the Week Microsoft SharePoint Attacks Traced to China — The fallout from an attack spree targeting defects in on-premises Microsoft SharePoint servers continues to spread a week after the discovery of the zero-day exploits, with more than 400 organizations globally compromised. The attacks have been attributed to two known Chinese hacking groups tracked as Linen Typhoon (aka APT27), Violet Typhoon (aka APT31), and a suspected China-based threat actor codenamed Storm-2603 t...
