NATO Vs Anonymous

NATO Vs Anonymous

Jun 02, 2011
NATO Vs Anonymous Oh Anonymous, now you're for it… NATO leaders have been warned that Wikileaks-loving 'hacktivist' collective Anonymous could pose a threat to member states' security, following recent attacks on the US Chamber of Commerce and defence contractor HBGary – and promise to 'persecute' its members. In a toughly-worded draft report to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, General Rapporteur Lord Jopling claims that the loose-knit, leaderless group is " becoming more and more sophisticated", and "could potentially hack into sensitive government, military, and corporate files ". Anonymous Plans Sony Boycott on April 16 Say you're a hacker trying to cripple a major electronics company for suing its own users: how do you launch a cyberattack without harming the people you're trying to protect? In the case of hactivist group 'Anonymous,' which has spent the week targeting Sony to retaliate against Sony's ongoing lawsuits against PlayStation 3 modifiers, you take it offline. Anonymous is staging a 24-hour, in-store boycott at Sony stores around world on Saturday, April 16. So far over 1,000 people have RSVP'd through Facebook. On Monday, Anonymous launched a DDoS attack on Sony that rendered the PlayStation Network (PSN) inaccessible for most of the day (while an Anonymous offshoot calling itself "SonyRecon" targeted individual Sony employees). But after consumers complained that the takedown was doing more harm than good to gamers, Anonymous reversed the hack and took down the Sony Careers page instead. Sony has remained

RIAA Targeted by Anonymous Operation Payback !

Mar 28, 2011
The rogue hacktivist movement Anonymous is apparently breaking out the Low Orbit Ion Cannon again for a reprise of the Operation Payback campaign, this time setting their distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack sites on the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The campaign to disrupt the RIAA website is reminiscent of Anonymous' earlier missions to protest actions taken by anti-piracy interests seeking to enforce copyright infringement sanctions. The RIAA is seeking trillions of dollars in damages from the P2P file-sharing network LimeWire for facilitating copyright infractions. Federal Judge Kimba Wood has already indicated she believes that the logic behind the RIAA calculations of the damages sought in the case is flawed, according to Computerworld. "If Plaintiffs were able to pursue a statutory damage theory based on the number of direct infringers per work, Defendants' damages could reach into the trillions," Judge Wood wrote. Nonethele

There's something "Human" to Social Engineering !

Oct 20, 2011
There's something " Human " to  Social Engineering ! At the psychological skill of Social Engineering Social engineering is the human side of breaking into corporate or personal pc's to gain information. Even companies that have an authentication process, firewalls, vpn's and network monitoring software are subject to the skill of a good social engineer. In hacking we rely on our technical skill and in social engineering it is a game of getting your subject to tell you what you want to get into their system. Social engineering has been employed since the beginning of mankind, the art of trickery or deception for the purpose of information gathering, fraud, or in modern times, computer system access. In most cases today the social engineer never comes face to face with their target. In social engineering we exploit the attributes of the human decision making process known as " cognitive biases ." That was the question asked by the Team of Social-engineer.org Gurus. Which tactic

#Anonymous attacks Iranian state websites The infamous Anonymous hacking group has crippled a string of Iranian state websites including those of the Office of the Supreme Leader, state police and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards in attacks launched yesterday. The coordinated Distributed Denial of Service attacks were launched at 5am GMT and targeted more than a dozen Iranian Government sites under the so-called Operation Iran. Anonymous had timed the attacks to coincide with International Workers' Day, commemorating the first nation-wide general strike in the US, which took place on May 1 in 1886. "OpIran attacks the governmental websites responsible for oppressing freedom of speech, information or ideas," the group wrote in a statement explaining the reasons for the attacks. The website of the Office of the Supreme Leader, Sayyid Ali Khamenei, was taken offline about an hour after attacks according to the groups' hit list but had been reinstated at the ti

Twitter post suggests 'The Jester' may have been responsible for knocking controversial church offline A Twitter message from Monday suggests that a seld-proclaimed "hacktivist" using the handle The Jester may have been responsible for knocking the controversial Westboro Baptist Church offline. In the  message , the hacker claimed to have temporarily taken down the public website of the church "for celebrating the death of U.S. troops." The message, however, made no direct mention if The Jester (@th3j35t3r onTwitter) was also responsible for the unavailability today of several other websites affiliated to the WBC. Members of the WBC church, based in Topeka, Kan., are known for their strident anti-gay views and for protests at funerals of slain military personnel and others. Last week, someone purporting to be from the hacking collective known as Anonymous, posted a letter on an Anonymous site, warning WBC members of attacks against their church public webs
