Anonymous launches Anonleaks.ru to expose HBGary 50000 Emails , data available soon ! Anonymous plans to release 27,000 emails from the server of Greg Hoglund, chief executive of the software security firm HBGary. It has posted 50,000 emails of Aaron Barr from the CEO of its sister organization, HP Gary Federal. They obtained the emails by hacking into Hoglund’s email. The Anonymous members are working on a web viewer so the public can read the emails. The new front for this group is being called AnonLeaks . When the Egyptian government decided to flip the switch on its country's Internet on Jan. 27, news of the unprecedented shut down spread rapidly. Rumors that the same thing has happened today in Algeria are unfounded, even though the country has been on the radar for a possible "domino effect" of events in Tunisia and Egypt. Internet intelligence authority Renesys, which confirmed the Egypt outage weeks ago, says in a new blog post that it has no evidence that Algeria's Internet has been shut down. Algeria typically has about 135 routed network prefixes in the global routing table, and our data show that they are all still routed and relatively stable. Traceroutes inbound confirm that sites hosted in these prefixes are still alive, and spot checks of websites hosted in Algeria show that most are up and functioning normally.  It's possible, that there are some Internet blocks not visible to outside the country, similar to Iranian-style throttling, but that ca...

Data released as part of a hacking attack by the Anonymous group has shown what appears to be a corporate plan to destroy WikiLeaks. Last week Aaron Barr, head of security services firm HBGary Federal, claimed to have infiltrated the Anonymous hacking group leadership and was able to identify key players. Less than 24 hours later the group attacked HBGary Federal’s servers and posted their contents on file sharing sites. An analysis of the contents revealed what appears to be a proposal, written for leading US legal firm Hunton & Williams by HBGary Federal, on how to bring down WikiLeaks through a combination of hacking and disinformation. It was prepared in conjunction with data analysis firms Palantir Technologies and consultants Berico Technologies The document suggests a campaign of misinformation involving feeding false documents into WikiLeaks and then exposing them to discredit the site’s output. The city crime branch hasregistered an FIR based on allegation by Rais Khan, a formeraide of social activist Teesta Setalwad, that his emailaccount was hacked. "An FIR has been registered in connection with thealleged hacking of email account of Khan," DCP crime branchHimanshu Shukla told PTI. Final arguments in the extradition hearing of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange were presented in a London court on Friday. The judge is expected to rule on February 24, but the case is likely to continue long afterward if either side files an appeal. Assange is being sought for questioning in Sweden on rape and coercion allegations stemming from sexual relations he had with two women in that country last August. One woman has claimed that Assange pinned her down to have sex with her and intentionally tore a condom he wore. The second woman claims that he had sex with her while she was initially asleep, failing to wear a condom despite repeated requests for him to do so. Assange has disputed their claims. Assange’s attorneys have argued that Swedish prosecutor Marianne Ny had abused the Swedish and U.K. legal process by attempting to extradite Assange without charging him with a crime, and for alleged offenses that are not subject to extradition. Attackers behind the Stuxnet computer worm focused on targeting five organizations in Iran that they believed would get them to their final target in that country, according to a new report from security researchers. The five organizations, believed to be the first that were infected with the worm, were targeted in five separate attacks over a number of months in 2009 and 2010, before Stuxnet was discovered in June 2010 and publicly exposed. Stuxnet spread from these organizations into other organizations on its way to its final target, which is believed to have been a nuclear enrichment facility or facilities in Iran. “These five organizations were infected, and from those five computers Stuxnet spread out — not to just computers in those organizations, but to other computes as well,” says Liam O Murchu, manager of operations for Symantec Security Response. “It all started with those five original domains.” The new information comes in an updated report from resea...

Berico Technologies severed ties in the afternoon on February 11 and early in the morning on February 11 Palantir Technologies severed all ties and issued an apology. Strengthening cybersecurity is the goal of legislation being introduced in the U.S. Congress after reports of hack attacks on computer networks at Nasdaq OMX Group (NDAQ.O) and at oil and gas companies. "Cyber-threats are not on the horizon, they are upon us," Democratic Senator Robert Menendez, who is introducing the bill, said in a statement on Thursday.
