Windows 10 to deliver updates and App downloads via Peer-to-Peer Technology

Mar 16, 2015
Does downloading Windows updates from Microsoft's servers and waiting too long really annoy you? It might not be with the arrival of Windows 10 . Microsoft seems to make a major change in Windows 10 to the way it delivers updates for the software. The leaked version of Windows 10 build 10036 (the current version is build 9926) allows you to grab OS updates from Microsoft as well as other computers, whether they're on your local network or on the Internet. Yeah, it's a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) technology Microsoft is going to use in order to deliver both app and operating system updates. Peer-to-Peer , or P2P Technology is usually associated with file sharing services like BitTorrent to download illicit copies of movies and albums, and of course, those endless Linux ISOs you've been downloading. However, Redmond is embracing the technology as an efficient means to deliver software updates to its users around the globe. Peer-to-Peer downloads will be o...
Bypassing Windows Security by modifying 1 Bit Only

Bypassing Windows Security by modifying 1 Bit Only

Feb 13, 2015
Among several vulnerabilities, Microsoft on Tuesday patched a critical vulnerability that could be exploited by hackers to bypass security measures on all versions of Windows operating systems from XP to Windows 10, just by modifying a single bit. The local privilege escalation vulnerability ( CVE-2015-0057 ) could give attackers total control of the victims' machines, explains Udi Yavo, the chief technology officer at the security firm enSilo. " A threat actor that gains access to a Windows machine can exploit this vulnerability to bypass all Windows security measures, defeating mitigation measures such as sandboxing, kernel segregation and memory randomization ," said Yavo. INTERESTING PART OF THE FLAW Yavo continued, " Interestingly, the exploit requires modifying only a single bit of the Windows operating system. " The flaw existed in the graphical user interface (GUI) component of the Win32k.sys module within the Windows Kernel which, amon...

The Hidden Risks of SaaS: Why Built-In Protections Aren't Enough for Modern Data Resilience

The Hidden Risks of SaaS: Why Built-In Protections Aren't Enough for Modern Data Resilience

Jun 26, 2025Data Protection / Compliance
SaaS Adoption is Skyrocketing, Resilience Hasn't Kept Pace SaaS platforms have revolutionized how businesses operate. They simplify collaboration, accelerate deployment, and reduce the overhead of managing infrastructure. But with their rise comes a subtle, dangerous assumption: that the convenience of SaaS extends to resilience. It doesn't. These platforms weren't built with full-scale data protection in mind . Most follow a shared responsibility model — wherein the provider ensures uptime and application security, but the data inside is your responsibility. In a world of hybrid architectures, global teams, and relentless cyber threats, that responsibility is harder than ever to manage. Modern organizations are being stretched across: Hybrid and multi-cloud environments with decentralized data sprawl Complex integration layers between IaaS, SaaS, and legacy systems Expanding regulatory pressure with steeper penalties for noncompliance Escalating ransomware threats and inside...

Microsoft Could Kill Internet Explorer; New Spartan Browser Coming Soon

Dec 30, 2015
Bad News for Internet Explorer fans, if any! Microsoft's almost 20 years old Web browser with a big blue E sign might soon be a thing of the past. With the arrival of Windows 10 , probably by next fall, Microsoft could come up with its brand new browser that's more similar to Mozilla's Firefox and Google's Chrome, but less like Internet Explorer (IE), according to a recent report published by ZDNet. "Ok so Microsoft is about to launch a new browser that's not Internet Explorer and will be the default browser in Windows 10," tweeted Thomas Nigro, a Microsoft Student Partner lead and developer of the modern version of VLC. The browser, codenamed " Spartan ," is a " light-weight " browser with extension support, and multiple sources confirm that this new browser isn't IE12. Instead, Spartan is an entirely new browser that will use Microsoft's Chakra JavaScript engine and Trident rendering engine (as opposed to WebKit...

" Inside Microsoft's Insider Program you'll get all the latest Windows preview builds as soon as they're available. In return, we want to know what you think. You'll get an easy-to-use app to give us your feedback, which will help guide us along the way ." Microsoft website reads . Well, how many of you actually read the " Terms of Service " and " Privacy Policy " documents before downloading the Preview release of Windows 10? I guess none of you, because most computer users have habit of ignoring that lengthy paragraphs and simply click " I Agree " and then " next ", which is not at all a good practise.
