Antivirus firm Avast to Buy its rival AVG for $1.3 Billion

Breaking News for Today: Antivirus company Avast Software is planning to acquire Dutch rival AVG Technologies for $1.3 Billion in cash. Avast announced today that it would buy Amsterdam-based AVG Technologies for $25 per share in an all-cash transaction valued at $1.3 Billion in an aim to expand its presence in the emerging markets. With more than 230 Million users worldwide, Avast provides free and paid security software packages for both PCs as well as mobile devices to businesses and individuals. The deal between the two popular security software companies will provide Avast with 400 Million endpoints -- devices that have some form of Avast or AVG application installed. Around 160 Million of those are mobile. The Website of Word's most popular mobile messaging app and Antivirus Firm - AVG were hacked this morning and defaced by a new Palestinian Hacker group - KDMS Team, affiliated with Anonymous Group. The Defacement page titled 'You got Pwned', with Anonymous Logo and playing Palestinian national anthem in the page background, says:  we want to tell you that there is a land called Palestine on the earth this land has been stolen by Zionist do you know it ? Palestinian people has the right to live in peace Deserve to liberate their land and release all prisoners from israeli jails we want peace and " There Is No Full Security We Can Catch You ! " It seems that the hacker used DNS hijacking to point domains on a fake server with deface page. The  Whatsapp has resolved the issue, but at the time of writing AVG is still defaced. Android WebView vulnerability allows hacker to install malicious apps

WebView is an essential component in Android and iOS. It enables applications to display content from online resources and simplifies task of performing a network request, parsing the data and rendering it. Today AVG Security expert reported a critical vulnerability in Android's WebView feature that allows an attacker to install malicious software, send SMSs and performing more tasks. WebView uses a number of APIs which can interact with the web contents inside WebView. So this allows the user to view a web application as a part of an ordinary Android application. Users can be infected when they click on a URL link using a vulnerable application that allows opening a Java enabled browser or web page. The commands in the JavaScript code can enable attackers to install malicious software, send SMSs, steal personal information and more.
