Good news for iOS 8.1 users! The Chinese jailbreaking team Pangu has released a software tool that allows users to Jailbreak their iPhones, iPads and iPods running the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system, iOS 8 and iOS 8.1 . That was really very quick, as iOS users need to wait quite long for the jailbreaks. Pangu developer team is the same group responsible for jailbreaking iOS 7 few months back. The group made its jailbreak tool available by releasing a download link for the developers edition before quickly removing it. The link for the tool on Pangu’s site is currently unavailable, with the team noting on their official Twitter account that, " Current Pangu Jailbreak v1.0.0 is disabled remotely because we are fixing bug which may cause lost of your photos. Please wait … " The developer edition of the jailbreak iOS 8 tool didn’t come with the Cydia app store , which would make the tool useless for an average iOS users who likes jail...

Apple releases 'Emergency' Patch after Advanced Spyware Targets Human Rights Activist

Apple releases 'Emergency' Patch after Advanced Spyware Targets Human Rights Activist

Aug 25, 2016
Apple has released iOS 9.3.5 update for iPhones and iPads to patch three zero-day vulnerabilities after a piece of spyware found targeting the iPhone used by a renowned UAE human rights defender, Ahmed Mansoor. One of the world's most invasive software weapon distributors, called the NSO Group, has been exploiting three zero-day security vulnerabilities in order to spy on dissidents and journalists. The NSO Group is an Israeli firm that sells spying and surveillance software that secretly tracks a target's mobile phone. The zero-day exploits have allowed the company to develop sophisticated spyware tools that can access the device location, contacts, texts, calls logs, emails and even microphone. Apple fixed these three vulnerabilities within ten days after being informed by two security firms, Citizen Lab and Lookout, who conducted a joint investigation. Background Story: Malware Discovery Mansoor, 46, ‘ Martin Ennals Award ’ winner from the United Arab Emirate...

⚡ Weekly Recap: Fortinet Exploited, China's AI Hacks, PhaaS Empire Falls & More

Nov 17, 2025 Cybersecurity / Hacking News
This week showed just how fast things can go wrong when no one’s watching. Some attacks were silent and sneaky. Others used tools we trust every day — like AI, VPNs, or app stores — to cause damage without setting off alarms. It’s not just about hacking anymore. Criminals are building systems to make money, spy, or spread malware like it’s a business. And in some cases, they’re using the same apps and services that businesses rely on — flipping the script without anyone noticing at first. The scary part? Some threats weren’t even bugs — just clever use of features we all take for granted. And by the time people figured it out, the damage was done. Let’s look at what really happened, why it matters, and what we should all be thinking about now. ⚡ Threat of the Week Silently Patched Fortinet Flaw Comes Under Attack — A vulnerability that was patched by Fortinet in FortiWeb Web Application Firewall (WAF) has been exploited in the wild since early October 2025 by threat actors to c...

Learn Ethical Hacking — Get 8 Online Courses For Just $29

Oct 17, 2017
With the rise in cyber-crimes, ethical hacking has become a powerful strategy in the fight against online threats. In general terms, ethical hackers are authorised to break into supposedly 'secure' computer systems without malicious intent, but with the aim of discovering vulnerabilities to bring about improved protection. Ethical Hackers are now kind of becoming the alchemists of the 21st century. More and more organisations are being targeted in cyber-attacks, and they must get to know their enemy if they are to protect vital networks. Meet the professional, ethical hacker. Despite this, the common belief among many at-risk companies is that 'to outwit a hacker, you need to hire one'. With so much at stake, even technology providers are turning to those with hacking skills to find the flaws in their products and fix them before the baddies can exploit them. Update your Mac OS X — Apple has released Important Security Updates

Sep 02, 2016
If you own a Mac laptop or desktop, you need to update your system right now. It turns out that the critical zero-day security vulnerabilities disclosed last week, which targeted iPhone and iPad users, affect Mac users as well. Late last week, Apple rolled out iOS 9.3.5 update to patch a total of three zero-day vulnerabilities that hackers could have used to remotely gain control of an iPhone by simply making the victim click a link. Dubbed "Trident," the security holes were used to create spyware (surveillance malware) called ' Pegasus ' that was apparently used to target human rights activist Ahmed Mansoor in the United Arab Emirates. Pegasus could allow an attacker to access an incredible amount of data on a target victim, including text messages, calendar entries, emails, WhatsApp messages, user's location, microphone. Pegasus Spyware could even allow an attacker to fully download victim's passwords and steal the stored list of WiFi networks,...

Apple Opens PCC Source Code for Researchers to Identify Bugs in Cloud AI Security

Apple Opens PCC Source Code for Researchers to Identify Bugs in Cloud AI Security

Oct 25, 2024 Cloud Security / Artificial Intelligence
Apple has publicly made available its Private Cloud Compute (PCC) Virtual Research Environment (VRE), allowing the research community to inspect and verify the privacy and security guarantees of its offering. PCC, which Apple unveiled earlier this June, has been marketed as the "most advanced security architecture ever deployed for cloud AI compute at scale." With the new technology, the idea is to offload computationally complex Apple Intelligence requests to the cloud in a manner that doesn't sacrifice user privacy. Apple said it's inviting "all security and privacy researchers — or anyone with interest and a technical curiosity — to learn more about PCC and perform their own independent verification of our claims." To further incentivize research, the iPhone maker said it's expanding the Apple Security Bounty program to include PCC by offering monetary payouts ranging from $50,000 to $1,000,000 for security vulnerabilities identified in it.
