BeyondTrust Fixes Critical Pre-Auth RCE Vulnerability in Remote Support and PRA

BeyondTrust Fixes Critical Pre-Auth RCE Vulnerability in Remote Support and PRA

Feb 09, 2026 Enterprise Security / Network Security
BeyondTrust has released updates to address a critical security flaw impacting Remote Support (RS) and Privileged Remote Access (PRA) products that, if successfully exploited, could result in remote code execution. "BeyondTrust Remote Support (RS) and certain older versions of Privileged Remote Access (PRA) contain a critical pre-authentication remote code execution vulnerability," the company said in an advisory released February 6, 2026. "By sending specially crafted requests, an unauthenticated remote attacker may be able to execute operating system commands in the context of the site user." The vulnerability, categorized as an operating system command injection , has been assigned the CVE identifier CVE-2026-1731 . It's rated 9.9 on the CVSS scoring system. BeyondTrust said successful exploitation of the shortcoming could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to execute operating system commands in the context of the site user, resulting in unautho...
U.S. Sanctions Chinese Cybersecurity Firm Over Treasury Hack Tied to Silk Typhoon

U.S. Sanctions Chinese Cybersecurity Firm Over Treasury Hack Tied to Silk Typhoon

Jan 18, 2025 Cyber Espionage / Telecom Security
The U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has imposed sanctions against a Chinese cybersecurity company and a Shanghai-based cyber actor for their alleged links to the Salt Typhoon group and the recent compromise of the federal agency. "People's Republic of China-linked (PRC) malicious cyber actors continue to target U.S. government systems, including the recent targeting of Treasury’s information technology (IT) systems, as well as sensitive U.S. critical infrastructure," the Treasury said in a press release. The sanctions target Yin Kecheng, who is assessed to have been a cyber actor for over a decade and affiliated with China's Ministry of State Security (MSS). Kecheng, per the Treasury, was associated with the breach of its own network that came to light earlier this month. The incident involved a hack of BeyondTrust's systems that allowed the threat actors to infiltrate some of the company's Remote Support SaaS inst...
Experts Reports Sharp Increase in Automated Botnet Attacks Targeting PHP Servers and IoT Devices

Experts Reports Sharp Increase in Automated Botnet Attacks Targeting PHP Servers and IoT Devices

Oct 29, 2025 Vulnerability / Internet of Things
Cybersecurity researchers are calling attention to a spike in automated attacks targeting PHP servers, IoT devices, and cloud gateways by various botnets such as Mirai , Gafgyt , and Mozi . "These automated campaigns exploit known CVE vulnerabilities and cloud misconfigurations to gain control over exposed systems and expand botnet networks," the Qualys Threat Research Unit (TRU) said in a report shared with The Hacker News. The cybersecurity company said PHP servers have emerged as the most prominent targets of these attacks owing to the widespread use of content management systems like WordPress and Craft CMS . This, in turn, creates a large attack surface as many PHP deployments can suffer from misconfigurations, outdated plugins and themes, and insecure file storage. Some of the prominent weaknesses in PHP frameworks that have been exploited by threat actors are listed below - CVE-2017-9841 - A Remote code execution vulnerability in PHPUnit CVE-2021-3129 - A Re...

⚡ Weekly Recap: Qualcomm 0-Day, iOS Exploit Chains, AirSnitch Attack & Vibe-Coded Malware

Mar 09, 2026 Cybersecurity / Hacking
Another week in cybersecurity. Another week of "you've got to be kidding me." Attackers were busy. Defenders were busy. And somewhere in the middle, a whole lot of people had a very bad Monday morning. That's kind of just how it goes now. The good news? There were some actual wins this week. Real ones. The kind where the good guys showed up, did the work, and made a dent. It doesn't always happen, so when it does, it's worth noting. The bad news? For every win, there's a fresh headache waiting right behind it. New tricks, old tricks dressed up in new clothes, and a few things that'll make you want to go touch grass and never log back in. But you will. We all do. So here's everything that mattered this week — the wins, the warnings, and the stuff you really shouldn't ignore. ⚡ Threat of the Week Tycoon 2FA and LeakBase Operations Dismantled — The infrastructure hosting the Tycoon2FA service, which Europol said was among the largest advers...
