Hacking Cable TV Networks to Broadcast Your Own Video Channel

Hacking Cable TV Networks to Broadcast Your Own Video Channel

May 25, 2014
I was watching my favorite show on the television and it was just half over when I saw something which was definitely not a part of the show I was watching. My television screen gone blank for a couple of seconds and then what I saw was totally unbelievable for my eyes. It was my friend ' Rahul Sasi ' on the television and I was still wondering that how did he interrupted in between a television show like happens in Sci-Fi movies, someone hijacks television or computer to deliver some kind of message or warning. "First, the attacker updated the server, then downloaded the tool FFmpeg ," said Assaf Morag, director of threat intelligence at cloud security firm Aqua. "This action alone is not a strong enough indicator for security tools to flag malicious activity." "Next, the attacker executed FFmpeg to capture live streams of sports events and redirected them to their server....

The vulnerabilities in question are listed below - CVE-2025-31200 (CVSS score: 7.5) - A memory corruption vulnerability in the Core Audio framework that could allow code execution when processing an audio stream in a maliciously crafted media file CVE-2025-31201 (CVSS score: 6.8) - A vulnerability in the RPAC component that could be used by an attacker with arbitrary read and write capability to bypass Pointer Authentication The iPhone maker said it addressed CVE-2025-31200 with improved bounds checking and CVE-2025-31201 by removing the vulnerable section of code. Both the vulnerabilities have been credited to Apple, along with Google Threat Analysis Group (TAG) for reporting CVE-2025-31200. Apple, as is typically the case with such advisories, said it's aware that the issues have b...
