How to Protect Your SaaS from Bot Attacks with SafeLine WAF

How to Protect Your SaaS from Bot Attacks with SafeLine WAF

Mar 02, 2026 Application Security / DevOps
Most SaaS teams remember the day their user traffic started growing fast. Few notice the day bots started targeting them. On paper, everything looks great: more sign-ups, more sessions, more API calls. But in reality, something feels off: Sign-ups increase, but users aren’t activating. Server costs rise faster than revenue. Logs are filled with repeated requests from strange user agents. If this sounds familiar, it’s not just a sign of popularity. Your app is under constant automated attack, even if no ransom emails have arrived. Your load balancer sees traffic. Your product team sees “growth”. Your database sees pain. This is where a WAF like SafeLine fits in. SafeLine is a self-hosted web application firewall (WAF) that sits in front of your app and inspects every HTTP request before it reaches your code.  It does not just look for broken packets or known bad IPs. It watches how traffic behaves: what it sends, how fast, in what patterns, and against which endpoints. ...
Tsundere Botnet Expands Using Game Lures and Ethereum-Based C2 on Windows

Tsundere Botnet Expands Using Game Lures and Ethereum-Based C2 on Windows

Nov 20, 2025 Botnet / Malware
Cybersecurity researchers have warned of an actively expanding botnet dubbed Tsundere that's targeting Windows users. Active since mid-2025, the threat is designed to execute arbitrary JavaScript code retrieved from a command-and-control (C2) server, Kaspersky researcher Lisandro Ubiedo said in an analysis published today. There are currently no details on how the botnet malware is propagated; however, in at least one case, the threat actors behind the operation are said to have leveraged a legitimate Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) tool as a conduit to download an MSI installer file from a compromised site. The names given to the malware artifacts – Valorant, r6x (Rainbow Six Siege X), and cs2 (Counter-Strike 2) – also suggest that the implant is likely being disseminated using game-related lures. It's possible that users searching for pirated versions of these games are the target. Regardless of the method used, the fake MSI installer is designed to install Node...
Microsoft Detects Growing Use of File Hosting Services in Business Email Compromise Attacks

Microsoft Detects Growing Use of File Hosting Services in Business Email Compromise Attacks

Oct 09, 2024 Enterprise Security / Identity Theft
Microsoft is warning of cyber attack campaigns that abuse legitimate file hosting services such as SharePoint, OneDrive, and Dropbox that are widely used in enterprise environments as a defense evasion tactic. The end goal of the campaigns are broad and varied, allowing threat actors to compromise identities and devices and conduct business email compromise ( BEC ) attacks, which ultimately result in financial fraud, data exfiltration, and lateral movement to other endpoints. The weaponization of legitimate internet services (LIS) is an increasingly popular risk vector adopted by adversaries to blend in with legitimate network traffic in a manner such that it often bypasses traditional security defenses and complicates attribution efforts. The approach is also called living-off-trusted-sites (LOTS), as it leverages the trust and familiarity of these services to sidestep email security guardrails and deliver malware. Microsoft said it has been observing a new trend in phishing c...

Toxic Combinations: When Cross-App Permissions Stack into Risk

Toxic Combinations: When Cross-App Permissions Stack into Risk

Apr 22, 2026 SaaS Security / AI Agents
On January 31, 2026, researchers disclosed that Moltbook, a social network built for AI agents, had left its database wide open, exposing 35,000 email addresses and 1.5 million agent API tokens across 770,000 active agents. The more worrying part sat inside the private messages. Some of those conversations held plaintext third-party credentials, including OpenAI API keys shared between agents, stored in the same unencrypted table as the tokens needed to hijack the agent itself. This is the shape of a toxic combination: a permission breakdown between two or more applications, bridged by an AI agent, integration, or OAuth grant, that no single application owner ever authorized as its own risk surface. Moltbook's agents sat at that bridge, carrying credentials for their host platform and for the outside services their users had wired them into, in a place that neither platform owner had line of sight into. Most SaaS access reviews still examine one application at a time, which is...
Hands-On Review: SASE-based XDR from Cato Networks

Hands-On Review: SASE-based XDR from Cato Networks

Feb 05, 2024 Extended Detection and Response
Companies are engaged in a seemingly endless cat-and-mouse game when it comes to cybersecurity and cyber threats. As organizations put up one defensive block after another, malicious actors kick their game up a notch to get around those blocks. Part of the challenge is to coordinate the defensive abilities of disparate security tools, even as organizations have limited resources and a dearth of skilled cybersecurity experts. XDR, or Extended Detection and Response, addresses this challenge. XDR platforms correlate indicators from across security domains to detect threats and then provide the tools to remediate incidents.  While XDR has many benefits, legacy approaches have been hampered by the lack of good-quality data. You might end up having a very good view of a threat from events generated by your EPP/EDR system but lack events about the network perspective (or vice versa). XDR products will import data from third-party sensors, but data comes in different formats. The XDR p...
Sneaky 2FA Phishing Kit Adds BitB Pop-ups Designed to Mimic the Browser Address Bar

Sneaky 2FA Phishing Kit Adds BitB Pop-ups Designed to Mimic the Browser Address Bar

Nov 18, 2025 Browser Security / Cybercrime
The malware authors associated with a Phishing-as-a-Service (PhaaS) kit known as Sneaky 2FA have incorporated Browser-in-the-Browser (BitB) functionality into their arsenal, underscoring the continued evolution of such offerings and further making it easier for less-skilled threat actors to mount attacks at scale. Push Security, in a report shared with The Hacker News, said it observed the use of the technique in phishing attacks designed to steal victims' Microsoft account credentials. BitB was first documented by security researcher mr.d0x in March 2022, detailing how it's possible to leverage a combination of HTML and CSS code to create fake browser windows that can masquerade as login pages for legitimate services in order to facilitate credential theft . "BitB is principally designed to mask suspicious phishing URLs by simulating a pretty normal function of in-browser authentication – a pop-up login form," Push Security said. "BitB phishing pages repl...
FBI Warns Russian Hackers Target Signal, WhatsApp in Mass Phishing Attacks

FBI Warns Russian Hackers Target Signal, WhatsApp in Mass Phishing Attacks

Mar 21, 2026 Cyber Espionage / Threat Intelligence
Threat actors affiliated with Russian Intelligence Services are conducting phishing campaigns to compromise commercial messaging applications (CMAs) like WhatsApp and Signal to seize control of accounts belonging to individuals with high intelligence value, the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said Friday. "The campaign targets individuals of high intelligence value, including current and former U.S. government officials, military personnel, political figures, and journalists," FBI Director Kash Patel said in a post on X. "Globally, this effort has resulted in unauthorized access to thousands of individual accounts. After gaining access, the actors can view messages and contact lists, send messages as the victim, and conduct additional phishing from a trusted identity." It's worth noting that the attacks are designed to break into the victims' CMA accounts through phishing and do not ...
Microsoft's AI-Powered Bing Chat Ads May Lead Users to Malware-Distributing Sites

Microsoft's AI-Powered Bing Chat Ads May Lead Users to Malware-Distributing Sites

Sep 29, 2023 Artificial Intelligence / Malware
Malicious ads served inside Microsoft Bing's artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot are being used to distribute malware when searching for popular tools. The findings come from Malwarebytes, which revealed that unsuspecting users can be tricked into visiting booby-trapped sites and installing malware directly from Bing Chat conversations. Introduced by Microsoft in February 2023, Bing Chat is an  interactive search experience  that's powered by OpenAI's large language model called  GPT-4 . A month later, the tech giant  began   exploring  placing ads in the conversations. But the move has also opened the doors for threat actors who resort to malvertising tactics and propagate malware. "Ads can be inserted into a Bing Chat conversation in various ways," Jérôme Segura, director of threat intelligence at Malwarebytes,  said . "One of those is when a user hovers over a link and an ad is displayed first before the organic result." In an example highli...

ThreatsDay Bulletin: $290M DeFi Hack, macOS LotL Abuse, ProxySmart SIM Farms +25 New Stories

Apr 23, 2026 Hacking News / Cybersecurity News
You scroll past one incident and see another that feels familiar, like it should have been fixed years ago, but it still works with small changes. Same bugs. Same mistakes. The supply chain is messy. Packages you did not check are stealing data, adding backdoors, and spreading. Attacking the systems behind apps is easier than breaking the apps themselves. The exploits are simple but still work, giving attackers easy access. AI tools are also part of the problem now. They trust bad input and take real actions, which makes the damage bigger. Then there are quieter issues. Apps take data they should not. Devices behave in strange ways. Attackers keep testing what they can get away with. No noise. Just ongoing damage. Here is the list for this week’s ThreatsDay Bulletin. State-backed crypto heist North Korea Likely Behind KelpDAP $290M Crypto Heist Inter-blockchain communication protocol LayerZero has revealed that North Korean thr...

⚡ THN Weekly Recap: Top Cybersecurity Threats, Tools and Tips [10 February]

Feb 10, 2025 Cybersecurity / Weekly Recap
In cybersecurity, the smallest crack can lead to the biggest breaches. A leaked encryption key, an unpatched software bug, or an abandoned cloud storage bucket—each one seems minor until it becomes the entry point for an attack. This week, we’ve seen cybercriminals turn overlooked weaknesses into major security threats, proving once again that no system is too small to be targeted. The question isn’t whether attackers will find a way in—it’s whether you’ll be prepared when they do. Let’s break down what you need to know. ⚡ Threat of the Week Microsoft Warns of Attacks Exploiting ASP.NET Machine Keys — Threat actors are exploiting publicly disclosed ASP.NET machine keys to inject and execute malicious code responsible for launching the Godzilla post-exploitation framework. Microsoft said it has identified over 3,000 publicly disclosed keys that could be used for these types of attacks dubbed ViewState code injection. The company also said it removed key-related artifacts from ...
