The Hidden Weaknesses in AI SOC Tools that No One Talks About

The Hidden Weaknesses in AI SOC Tools that No One Talks About

Jul 03, 2025 Security Operations / Machine Learning
If you're evaluating AI-powered SOC platforms, you've likely seen bold claims: faster triage, smarter remediation, and less noise. But under the hood, not all AI is created equal. Many solutions rely on pre-trained AI models that are hardwired for a handful of specific use cases. While that might work for yesterday's SOC, today's reality is different. Modern security operations teams face a sprawling and ever-changing landscape of alerts. From cloud to endpoint, identity to OT, insider threats to phishing, network to DLP, and so many more, the list goes on and is continuously growing. CISOs and SOC managers are rightly skeptical. Can this AI actually handle all of my alerts, or is it just another rules engine in disguise? In this post, we'll examine the divide between two types of AI SOC platforms. Those built on adaptive AI, which learns to triage and respond to any alert type, and those that rely on pre-trained AI, limited to handling predefined use cases only. Understanding t...

SOC 3.0 - The Evolution of the SOC and How AI is Empowering Human Talent

Feb 26, 2025 Machine Learning / Threat Detection
Organizations today face relentless cyber attacks, with high-profile breaches hitting the headlines almost daily. Reflecting on a long journey in the security field, it's clear this isn't just a human problem—it's a math problem. There are simply too many threats and security tasks for any SOC to manually handle in a reasonable timeframe. Yet, there is a solution. Many refer to it as SOC 3.0—an AI-augmented environment that finally lets analysts do more with less and shifts security operations from a reactive posture to a proactive force. The transformative power of SOC 3.0 will be detailed later in this article, showcasing how artificial intelligence can dramatically reduce workload and risk, delivering world-class security operations that every CISO dreams of. However, to appreciate this leap forward, it's important to understand how the SOC evolved over time and why the steps leading up to 3.0 set the stage for a new era of security operations. A brief history of the SOC For deca...
Architectures, Risks, and Adoption: How to Assess and Choose the Right AI-SOC Platform

Architectures, Risks, and Adoption: How to Assess and Choose the Right AI-SOC Platform

Oct 16, 2025 Artificial Intelligence / Data Privacy
Scaling the SOC with AI - Why now?  Security Operations Centers (SOCs) are under unprecedented pressure. According to SACR's AI-SOC Market Landscape 2025 , the average organization now faces around 960 alerts per day , while large enterprises manage more than 3,000 alerts daily from an average of 28 different tools . Nearly 40% of those alerts go uninvestigated , and 61% of security teams admit to overlooking alerts that later proved critical. The takeaway is clear: the traditional SOC model can't keep up. AI has now moved from experimentation to execution inside the SOC. 88% of organizations that don't yet run an AI-driven SOC plan to evaluate or deploy one within the next year. But as more vendors promote "AI-powered SOC automation," the challenge for security leaders has shifted from awareness to evaluation. The key question is no longer whether AI belongs in the SOC, but how to measure its real impact and select a platform that delivers value without introducing signi...

Perfection is a Myth. Leverage Isn't: How Small Teams Can Secure Their Google Workspace

Perfection is a Myth. Leverage Isn't: How Small Teams Can Secure Their Google Workspace

May 05, 2025 Cloud Security / Security Operations
Let's be honest: if you're one of the first (or the first) security hires at a small or midsize business, chances are you're also the unofficial CISO, SOC, IT Help Desk, and whatever additional roles need filling. You're not running a security department. You are THE security department. You're getting pinged about RFPs in one area, and reviewing phishing alerts in another, all while sifting through endless FP alerts across the board. The tools meant to help are often creating more work than they solve. Security teams end up choosing between letting things slip or becoming the "Department of No." Chances are you inherited your company's Google Workspace. Thankfully, Google handles the infrastructure, the uptime, and the spam filtering. But while Google takes care of a lot, it doesn't cover everything, and it can be difficult for security teams to operationalize all of Google's underlying capabilities without significant engineering work. It's your job to se...

SOC Analysts - Reimagining Their Role Using AI

SOC Analysts - Reimagining Their Role Using AI

Jan 30, 2025 AI Security / SOC Automation
The job of a SOC analyst has never been easy. Faced with an overwhelming flood of daily alerts, analysts (and sometimes IT teams who are doubling as SecOps) must try and triage thousands of security alerts—often false positives—just to identify a handful of real threats. This relentless, 24/7 work leads to alert fatigue, desensitization, and increased risk of missing critical security incidents. Studies show that 70% of SOC analysts experience severe stress, and 65% consider leaving their jobs within a year . This makes retention a major challenge for security teams, especially in light of the existing shortage of skilled security analysts . On the operational side, analysts spend more time on repetitive, manual tasks like investigating alerts, and resolving and documenting incidents than they do on proactive security measures. Security teams struggle with configuring and maintaining SOAR playbooks as the cyber landscape rapidly changes. To top this all off, tool overload and siloed ...
How the Software Supply Chain Security is Threatened by Hackers

How the Software Supply Chain Security is Threatened by Hackers

Oct 25, 2022
Introduction In many ways, the software supply chain is similar to that of manufactured goods, which we all know has been largely impacted by a global pandemic and shortages of raw materials.  However, in the IT world, it is not shortages or pandemics that have been the main obstacles to overcome in recent years, but rather attacks aimed at using them to harm hundreds or even thousands of victims simultaneously. If you've heard of a cyber attack between 2020 and today, it's likely that the software supply chain played a role.  When we talk about an attack on the software supply chain, we are actually referring to two successive attacks: one that targets a supplier, and one that targets one or more downstream users in the chain, using the first as a vehicle. In this article, we will dive into the mechanisms and risks of the software supply chain by looking at a typical vulnerability of the modern development cycle: the presence of personal identifying information, or "...
