The Indonesian National Police in a joint press conference with Interpol and cybersecurity firm Group-IB earlier today announced the arrest of three Magecart-style Indonesian hackers who had compromised hundreds of international e-commerce websites and stolen payment card details of their online shoppers. Dubbed ' Operation Night Fury ,' the investigation was led by Interpol's ASEAN Cyber Capability Desk, a joint initiative by law enforcement agencies of Southeast Asian countries to combat cybercrime. According to the press conference, all three accused (23, 26, and 35 years old) were arrested last year in December from Jakarta and Yogyakarta and charged with criminal laws related to the data theft, fraud, and unauthorized access. A new surge of malware has been discovered which goes on to infect hundreds of thousands of computers worldwide and allegedly steals users' social and banking site credentials. Few days back, a list of 5 million combinations of Gmail addresses and passwords were leaked online. The search engine giant, Google said that Gmail credentials didn't come from the security breaches of its system, rather the credentials had been stolen by phishing campaigns and unauthorized access to user accounts. 100 Kenya government websites breached by Indonesian hacker An Indonesian hacker on Tuesday attacked and defaced more than 100 Kenya government websites Among the ministries affected include the Ministries of Local Government, Livestock, Environment, Fisheries, Housing, and Industrialisation in a major cyber security breach. Cross Site Scripting Vulnerability at Google Appspot The Google Appspot " ClickDesk " login page is vulnerable to Cross Site Scripting attack. Cross Site scripting attack is a critical issue in web application. When an attacker gets a user's browser to execute his/her XSS code, the code will run within the security context (or zone) of the hosting web site. Anonymous Hackers hit 50 Malaysian government websites Malaysia has been hit by a wave of attacks after the " Anonymous " hacker group accused the government of Internet censorship. More than 50 government websites were hit and 41 of them were closed The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) said in a statement the attacks on websites with the .gov.my domain started shortly before midnight Wednesday and lasted several hours. Late yesterday evening website classiccars.com had been defaced. While it's not shocking news that another site of the millions on the internet has been hacked, this one was unusual in that the defacement seemed to be nothing more than an advertisement for the hackers. Ten years ago hacking for bragging rights was a somewhat common practice, but today most attacks are more silent and are designed to steal information. I poked around to find out more about who was behind the attack and how they are compromising the security of the sites they are attacking. The image and stolen JavaScript code that made up the new home page were stored at a free web host. No surprises there, but I did discover that they had an active IRC network.
