How To Run Almost Any Android App On Windows, OS X, Linux with Chrome

How To Run Almost Any Android App On Windows, OS X, Linux with Chrome

Sep 22, 2014
From last week, Google began paving the way to run Android apps on Chrome Operating System through the project named " App Runtime for Chrome ", but the release came with a lot of limitations – it only supported certain Android apps and on Chrome OS only. At the launch, initially only 4 Android apps – Vine, Evernote, Duolingo and Sight Words – were added to the Chrome Web Store. That was pretty exciting, but it merely whet the appetite of users hungry for more functionality. So, what if you could run more than just 4 Android apps on Chrome OS? And Also could run them on other operating systems as well? A developer by the name of " Vlad Filippov " began working on it to stripped away the limits Google has imposed. He successfully figured out a way to bring more Android apps to Chrome , instead of just the four that are officially supported by Google. The bigger success was that when Filippov got Android apps to work on any desktop Operating System tha...

Google bets $20000 that Chrome browser can not be hacked !

Feb 03, 2011
Google will pay $ 20,000 for the first scientist who succeeds in its Chrome browser to exploit this year's competition Pwn2Own piracy. The price is the largest ever to face the annual challenge, which begins for the fifth time in the CanSecWest security conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, March 9. In Pwn2Own this year, researchers sky exploits against machines running Windows 7 or Mac OS X, as they try to download Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and Chrome. The researchers first to hack IE, Firefox and Safari will receive $ 15,000 and the computer running the browser. Prices are $ 5,000 higher than those given for the use of browsers in the last contest Pwn2Own, and three times the 2009 price. "We've raised the bar this time and the total allocated to cash prices rose to a whopping $ 125,000," said Aaron Portnoy, director of HP TippingPoint Security Research Team. TippingPoint, which is once again sponsoring Pwn2Own, set th...
Over A Billion Malicious Ad Impressions Exploit WebKit Flaw to Target Apple Users

Over A Billion Malicious Ad Impressions Exploit WebKit Flaw to Target Apple Users

Oct 01, 2019
The infamous eGobbler hacking group that surfaced online earlier this year with massive malvertising campaigns has now been caught running a new campaign exploiting two browser vulnerabilities to show intrusive pop-up ads and forcefully redirect users to malicious websites. To be noted, hackers haven't found any way to run ads for free; instead, the modus operandi of eGobbler attackers involves high budgets to display billions of ad impressions on high profile websites through legit ad networks. But rather than relying on visitors' willful interaction with advertisements online, eGobbler uses browser (Chrome and Safari) exploits to achieve maximum click rate and successfully hijack as many users' sessions as possible. In its previous malvertising campaign, eGobbler group was exploiting a then-zero-day vulnerability (CVE-2019-5840) in Chrome for iOS back in April , which allowed them to successfully bypass browser's built-in pop-up blocker on iOS devices and hij...

Meltdown and Spectre CPU Flaws Affect Intel, ARM, AMD Processors

Meltdown and Spectre CPU Flaws Affect Intel, ARM, AMD Processors

Jan 04, 2018
Unlike the initial reports suggested about Intel chips being vulnerable to some severe 'memory leaking' flaws, full technical details about the vulnerabilities have now been emerged, which revealed that almost every modern processor since 1995 is vulnerable to the issues. Disclosed today by Google Project Zero , the vulnerabilities potentially impact all major CPUs, including those from AMD, ARM, and Intel—threatening almost all PCs, laptops, tablets, and smartphones, regardless of manufacturer or operating system. These hardware vulnerabilities have been categorized into two attacks , named Meltdown (CVE-2017-5754) and Spectre (CVE-2017-5753 and CVE-2017-5715), which could allow attackers to steal sensitive data which is currently processed on the computer. Both attacks take advantage of a feature in chips known as "speculative execution," a technique used by most modern CPUs to optimize performance. "In order to improve performance, many CPUs may choose t...

Best Free Password Manager Software You Can Download For 2018

Jul 30, 2016
When it comes to safeguarding your Internet security, installing an antivirus software or running a Secure Linux OS on your system does not mean you are safe enough from all kinds of cyber-threats. Today majority of Internet users are vulnerable to cyber attacks, not because they aren't using any best antivirus software or other security measures, but because they are using weak passwords to secure their online accounts. Passwords are your last lines of defense against online threats. Just look back to some recent data breaches and cyber attacks, including high-profile data breach at OPM ( United States Office of Personnel Management ) and the extra-marital affair site Ashley Madison , that led to the exposure of hundreds of millions of records online. Although you can not control data breaches, it is still important to create strong passwords that can withstand dictionary and brute-force attacks . You see, the longer and more complex your password is, the much harder...
Microsoft Warns of StilachiRAT: A Stealthy RAT Targeting Credentials and Crypto Wallets

Microsoft Warns of StilachiRAT: A Stealthy RAT Targeting Credentials and Crypto Wallets

Mar 18, 2025 Malware / Threat Intelligence
Microsoft is calling attention to a novel remote access trojan (RAT) named StilachiRAT that it said employs advanced techniques to sidestep detection and persist within target environments with an ultimate aim to steal sensitive data. The malware contains capabilities to "steal information from the target system, such as credentials stored in the browser, digital wallet information, data stored in the clipboard, as well as system information," the Microsoft Incident Response team said in an analysis. The tech giant said it discovered StilachiRAT in November 2024, with its RAT features present in a DLL module named "WWStartupCtrl64.dll." The malware has not been attributed to any specific threat actor or country. It's currently not clear how the malware is delivered to targets, but Microsoft noted that such trojans can be installed via various initial access routes, making it crucial for organizations to implement adequate security measures. StilachiRAT i...
