Deadglyph: New Advanced Backdoor with Distinctive Malware Tactics

Deadglyph: New Advanced Backdoor with Distinctive Malware Tactics

Sep 23, 2023 Cyber Espionage / Malware
Cybersecurity researchers have discovered a previously undocumented advanced backdoor dubbed  Deadglyph  employed by a threat actor known as Stealth Falcon as part of a cyber espionage campaign. "Deadglyph's architecture is unusual as it consists of cooperating components – one a native x64 binary, the other a .NET assembly," ESET  said  in a  new report  shared with The Hacker News. "This combination is unusual because malware typically uses only one programming language for its components. This difference might indicate separate development of those two components while also taking advantage of unique features of the distinct programming languages they utilize." It's also suspected that the use of different programming languages is a deliberate tactic to hinder analysis, making it a lot more challenging to navigate and debug. Unlike other traditional backdoors of its kind, the commands are received from an actor-controlled server in the form of...

Over 1,000 Exposed ComfyUI Instances Targeted in Cryptomining Botnet Campaign

Apr 07, 2026 Cloud Security / Malware
An active campaign has been observed targeting internet-exposed instances running ComfyUI, a popular stable diffusion platform, to enlist them into a cryptocurrency mining and proxy botnet. "A purpose-built Python scanner continuously sweeps major cloud IP ranges for vulnerable targets, automatically installing malicious nodes via ComfyUI-Manager if no exploitable node is already present," Censys security researcher Mark Ellzey said in a report published Monday. The attack activity, at its core, systemically scans for exposed ComfyUI instances and exploits a misconfiguration that allows remote code execution on unauthenticated deployments through custom nodes . Upon successful exploitation, the compromised hosts are added to a cryptomining operation that mines Monero via XMRig and Conflux via lolMiner, as well as to a Hysteria V2 botnet. Both of them are centrally managed through a Flask-based command-and-control (C2) dashboard. Data from the at...

Brazilian Banks Targeted by New AllaKore RAT Variant Called AllaSenha

May 29, 2024 Mobile Security / Banking Trojan
Brazilian banking institutions are the target of a new campaign that distributes a custom variant of the Windows-based AllaKore remote access trojan (RAT) called AllaSenha . The malware is "specifically aimed at stealing credentials that are required to access Brazilian bank accounts, [and] leverages Azure cloud as command-and-control (C2) infrastructure," French cybersecurity company HarfangLab said in a technical analysis. Targets of the campaign include banks such as Banco do Brasil, Bradesco, Banco Safra, Caixa Econômica Federal, Itaú Unibanco, Sicoob, and Sicredi. The initial access vector, though not definitively confirmed, points towards the use of malicious links in phishing messages. The starting point of the attack is a malicious Windows shortcut (LNK) file that masquerades as a PDF document ("NotaFiscal.pdf.lnk") hosted on a WebDAV server since at least March 2024. There is also evidence to suggest that the threat actors behind the activity previous...

Featured Chrome Browser Extension Caught Intercepting Millions of Users' AI Chats

Dec 15, 2025 AI Security / Browser Security
A Google Chrome extension with a "Featured" badge and six million users has been observed silently gathering every prompt entered by users into artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbots like OpenAI ChatGPT, Anthropic Claude, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Google Gemini, xAI Grok, Meta AI, and Perplexity. The extension in question is Urban VPN Proxy , which has a 4.7 rating on the Google Chrome Web Store. It's advertised as the "best secured Free VPN access to any website, and unblock content." Its developer is a Delaware-based company named Urban Cyber Security Inc . On the Microsoft Edge Add-ons marketplace, it has 1.3 million installations .  Despite claiming that it allows users to "protect your online identity, stay protected, and hide your IP," an update was pushed to users on July 9, 2025, when version 5.5.0 was released with the AI data harvesting enabled by default using hard-coded settings. Specifically, this is achieved by means of a t...
We Found Eight Attack Vectors Inside AWS Bedrock. Here's What Attackers Can Do with Them

We Found Eight Attack Vectors Inside AWS Bedrock. Here's What Attackers Can Do with Them

Mar 23, 2026 Cloud Security / SaaS Security
AWS Bedrock is Amazon's platform for building AI-powered applications. It gives developers access to foundation models and the tools to connect those models directly to enterprise data and systems. That connectivity is what makes it powerful – but it’s also what makes Bedrock a target. When an AI agent can query your Salesforce instance, trigger a Lambda function, or pull from a SharePoint knowledge base, it becomes a node in your infrastructure - with permissions, with reachability, and with paths that lead to critical assets. The XM Cyber threat research team mapped exactly how attackers could exploit that connectivity inside Bedrock environments. The result: eight validated attack vectors spanning log manipulation, knowledge base compromise, agent hijacking, flow injection, guardrail degradation, and prompt poisoning. In this article, we’ll walk through each vector - what it targets, how it works, and what an attacker can reach on the other side. The Eight Vectors The XM ...

ThreatsDay Bulletin: Linux Rootkits, Router 0-Day, AI Intrusions, Scam Kits and 25 New Stories

May 21, 2026 Hacking News / Cybersecurity News
This week starts small. A token leaks. A bad package slips in. A login trick works. An old tool shows up again. At first, it feels like the usual mess. Then you see the pattern: attackers are not always breaking in. They are using the parts we already trust. That is what makes it worrying. The danger is in normal things now - updates, apps, cloud buttons, support chats, trusted accounts. AI does not make the attacks magic. It just helps people try more things, faster. Here's what showed up this week. 47 zero-days exposed 47 0-Days Discovered in Pwn2Own Berlin 2026 The Pwn2Own Berlin 2026 hacking contest has concluded, with security researchers collecting $1,298,250 in rewards after exploiting 47 zero-day flaws in various products from Windows, Linux, VMware, and NVIDIA. DEVCORE won the event with 50.5 Master of Pwn points and $505,000 in rewards throughout the three-day contest after hacking Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft E...

Credential Theft and Remote Access Surge as AllaKore, PureRAT, and Hijack Loader Proliferate

Jul 22, 2025 Financial Fraud / Malware
Mexican organizations are still being targeted by threat actors to deliver a modified version of AllaKore RAT and SystemBC as part of a long-running campaign.  The activity has been attributed by Arctic Wolf Labs to a financially motivated hacking group called Greedy Sponge . It's believed to be active since early 2021, indiscriminately targeting a wide range of sectors, such as retail, agriculture, public sector, entertainment, manufacturing, transportation, commercial services, capital goods, and banking. "The AllaKore RAT payload has been heavily modified to enable the threat actors to send select banking credentials and unique authentication information back to their command-and-control (C2) server, for the purpose of conducting financial fraud," the cybersecurity company said in an analysis published last week. Details of the campaign were first documented by the BlackBerry Research and Intelligence Team (which is now part of Arctic Wolf) in January 2024, with ...

Predator Android Spyware: Researchers Uncover New Data Theft Capabilities

May 26, 2023 Spyware / Cyber Attack
Security researchers have detailed the inner workings of the commercial Android spyware called Predator, which is marketed by the Israeli company Intellexa (previously Cytrox). Predator was  first documented  by Google's Threat Analysis Group (TAG) in May 2022 as part of attacks leveraging five different zero-day flaws in the Chrome web browser and Android. The spyware, which is delivered by means of another loader component known as Alien, is equipped to record audio from phone calls and VoIP-based apps as well as gather contacts and messages, including from Signal, WhatsApp, and Telegram. Its other functionalities allow it to hide applications and prevent applications from being executed upon rebooting the handset. "A deep dive into both spyware components indicates that Alien is more than just a loader for Predator and actively sets up the low-level capabilities needed for Predator to spy on its victims," Cisco Talos  said  in a technical report. Spyware lik...

Rakabulle, Advance File Binder from DarkComet RAT Developer

Jan 17, 2014
I hope you all still remember the famous and powerful Remote Administration Tool (RAT) called ' Dark Comet ', developed by a French computer geek ' Jean-Pierre Lesueur ', also known as ' DarkCoderSc '. However, He had closed the Dark Comet project, when the Syrian government found to be using it to track down and to spy on their people. After that  DarkCoderSc  started working under a new banner ' Phrozen Software ' to develop many new security softwares and penetration testing tools. Just yesterday, Jean-Pierre and his team-mate Fabio Pinto  from French University, have released a new tool called ' Rakabulle ', a file binder with some cool features for penetration testers and malware researchers. File binder is an application that allows a user to bind multiple files together, resulting in a single executable file. When you execute that single application, all previous merged files will be extracted to a temporary location, and will be exe...
