Critical mySCADA myPRO Flaws Could Let Attackers Take Over Industrial Control Systems

Critical mySCADA myPRO Flaws Could Let Attackers Take Over Industrial Control Systems

Mar 19, 2025 Vulnerability / Network Security
Cybersecurity researchers have disclosed details of two critical flaws impacting mySCADA myPRO , a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system used in operational technology (OT) environments, that could allow malicious actors to take control of susceptible systems. "These vulnerabilities, if exploited, could grant unauthorized access to industrial control networks, potentially leading to severe operational disruptions and financial losses," Swiss security company PRODAFT said . The list of shortcomings, both rated 9.3 on the CVSS v4 scoring system, are below - CVE-2025-20014 - An operating system command injection vulnerability that could permit an attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the affected system via specially crafted POST requests containing a version parameter CVE-2025-20061 - An operating system command injection vulnerability that could permit an attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the affected system via specially crafted POST req...
CISA Warns of Active Exploitation in GitHub Action Supply Chain Compromise

CISA Warns of Active Exploitation in GitHub Action Supply Chain Compromise

Mar 19, 2025 Vulnerability / DevSecOps
The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) on Tuesday added a vulnerability linked to the supply chain compromise of the GitHub Action, tj-actions/changed-files, to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog. The high-severity flaw, tracked as CVE-2025-30066 (CVSS score: 8.6), involves the breach of the GitHub Action to inject malicious code that enables a remote attacker to access sensitive data via actions logs. "The tj-actions/changed-files GitHub Action contains an embedded malicious code vulnerability that allows a remote attacker to discover secrets by reading actions logs," CISA said in an alert. "These secrets may include, but are not limited to, valid AWS access keys, GitHub personal access tokens (PATs), npm tokens, and private RSA keys." Cloud security company Wiz has since revealed that the attack may have been an instance of a cascading supply chain attack, with unidentified threat actors first compromising the re...
New ‘Rules File Backdoor’ Attack Lets Hackers Inject Malicious Code via AI Code Editors

New ‘Rules File Backdoor’ Attack Lets Hackers Inject Malicious Code via AI Code Editors

Mar 18, 2025 AI Security / Software Security
Cybersecurity researchers have disclosed details of a new supply chain attack vector dubbed Rules File Backdoor that affects artificial intelligence (AI)-powered code editors like GitHub Copilot and Cursor, causing them to inject malicious code. "This technique enables hackers to silently compromise AI-generated code by injecting hidden malicious instructions into seemingly innocent configuration files used by Cursor and GitHub Copilot," Pillar security's Co-Founder and CTO Ziv Karliner said in a technical report shared with The Hacker News. "By exploiting hidden unicode characters and sophisticated evasion techniques in the model facing instruction payload, threat actors can manipulate the AI to insert malicious code that bypasses typical code reviews." The attack vector is notable for the fact that it allows malicious code to silently propagate across projects, posing a supply chain risk. The crux of the attack hinges on the rules files that are used ...

Unpatched Windows Zero-Day Flaw Exploited by 11 State-Sponsored Threat Groups Since 2017

Unpatched Windows Zero-Day Flaw Exploited by 11 State-Sponsored Threat Groups Since 2017

Mar 18, 2025 Vulnerability / Windows Security
An unpatched security flaw impacting Microsoft Windows has been exploited by 11 state-sponsored groups from China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia as part of data theft, espionage, and financially motivated campaigns that date back to 2017. The zero-day vulnerability, tracked by Trend Micro's Zero Day Initiative (ZDI) as ZDI-CAN-25373 , refers to an issue that allows bad actors to execute hidden malicious commands on a victim's machine by leveraging crafted Windows Shortcut or Shell Link (.LNK) files. "The attacks leverage hidden command line arguments within .LNK files to execute malicious payloads, complicating detection," security researchers Peter Girnus and Aliakbar Zahravi said in an analysis shared with The Hacker News. "The exploitation of ZDI-CAN-25373 exposes organizations to significant risks of data theft and cyber espionage." Specifically, this involves the padding of the arguments with Space (0x20), Horizontal Tab (0x09), Line Feed (0x0A),...
Google Acquires Wiz for $32 Billion in Its Biggest Deal Ever to Boost Cloud Security

Google Acquires Wiz for $32 Billion in Its Biggest Deal Ever to Boost Cloud Security

Mar 18, 2025 Cloud Security / Enterprise Security
Google is making the biggest ever acquisition in its history by purchasing cloud security company Wiz in an all-cash deal worth $32 billion. "This acquisition represents an investment by Google Cloud to accelerate two large and growing trends in the AI era: improved cloud security and the ability to use multiple clouds (multicloud)," the tech giant said today. It added the acquisition, which is subject to regulatory approvals, is meant to provide customers with a "comprehensive security platform" that secures modern IT environments.  Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said by bringing its cloud offerings and Wiz together, the move will "spur the adoption of multicloud cybersecurity, the use of multicloud, and competition and growth in cloud computing." Wiz CEO Assaf Rappaport said it will remain an independent multicloud platform even after the deal is closed, and that it will work with other cloud companies like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft A...
New Critical AMI BMC Vulnerability Enables Remote Server Takeover and Bricking

New Critical AMI BMC Vulnerability Enables Remote Server Takeover and Bricking

Mar 18, 2025 Vulnerability / Firmware Security
A critical security vulnerability has been disclosed in AMI's MegaRAC Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) software that could allow an attacker to bypass authentication and carry out post-exploitation actions. The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2024-54085 , carries a CVSS v4 score of 10.0, indicating maximum severity. "A local or remote attacker can exploit the vulnerability by accessing the remote management interfaces (Redfish) or the internal host to the BMC interface (Redfish)," firmware security company Eclypsium said in a report shared with The Hacker News. "Exploitation of this vulnerability allows an attacker to remotely control the compromised server, remotely deploy malware, ransomware, firmware tampering, bricking motherboard components (BMC or potentially BIOS/UEFI), potential server physical damage (over-voltage / bricking), and indefinite reboot loops that a victim cannot stop." The vulnerability can further be weaponized to stage disruptiv...
