'The Pirate Bay' Goes Down After Swedish Police Raid Server Room

The Pirate Bay — an infamous Torrent website predominantly used to share copyrighted material such as films, TV shows and music files, free of charge — went dark from the internet on Tuesday after Swedish Police raided the site's server room in Stockholm and seized several servers and other equipment. The piracy site knocked offline worldwide on Tuesday morning and remained unavailable for several hours, but the site appeared back online in the late hours with a new URL hosted under the top-level domain for Costa Rica. Paul Pintér , national coordinator for IP enforcement for the Swedish police, issued only a brief statement on Tuesday, saying that the operation was " a crackdown on a server room in Greater Stockholm" that was "in connection with violations of copyright law. The Distributed Denial of Service ( DDoS ) attack has become more sophisticated and complex and therefore has become one of the favorite weapon for the cyber criminals to temporarily suspend the services of any host connected to the Internet and till now nearly every big site had been a victim of this attack, from WordPress to online game websites. According to the new report released by a US based security solutions provider  Incapsula , DDOS activities have become threefold since the start of the year 2013, pointing the key source of trash traffic to be the remotely controlled “ zombie army ” that can be used to flood various websites by DDoS attacks and other malicious activities. The report site as “ DDOS Threat Landscape ”, explains that almost one in every three DDoS attacks is above 20Gbps and 81% of attacks feature multiple vector threats. The LinkedIn became inaccessible for an hour last night. Few Hours before App.net co-founder Bryan Berg posted that LinkedIn DNS was hijacked but later LinkedIn confirmed that they suffered outage due to DNS issue, not Hack. DNS Hijacking is an unauthorized modification of a DNS server or change of DNS address that directs users attempting to access a web page to a different web page that looks the same, but contains extra content such as advertisements, is a competitor page, a malware page, or third-party search page. Bryan said," all of your traffic has been sent to a network hosted by this company [confluence-networks.com].
