Ruijie Networks' Cloud Platform Flaws Could've Exposed 50,000 Devices to Remote Attacks

Ruijie Networks' Cloud Platform Flaws Could've Exposed 50,000 Devices to Remote Attacks

Dec 25, 2024 Cloud Security / Vulnerability
Cybersecurity researchers have discovered several security flaws in the cloud management platform developed by Ruijie Networks that could permit an attacker to take control of the network appliances. "These vulnerabilities affect both the Reyee platform, as well as Reyee OS network devices," Claroty researchers Noam Moshe and Tomer Goldschmidt said in a recent analysis. "The vulnerabilities, if exploited, could allow a malicious attacker to execute code on any cloud-enabled device, giving them the ability to control tens of thousands of devices." The operational technology (OT) security company, which carried out an in-depth research of the Internet of Things (IoT) vendor, said it not only identified 10 flaws but also devised an attack called "Open Sesame" that can be used to hack into an access point in close physical proximity over the cloud and gain unauthorized access to its network. Of the 10 vulnerabilities , three of them are rated Critical in...
Hackers Could Turn LG Smart Appliances Into Remote-Controlled Spy Robot

Hackers Could Turn LG Smart Appliances Into Remote-Controlled Spy Robot

Oct 27, 2017
If your smart devices are smart enough to make your life easier, then their smart behaviour could also be exploited by hackers to invade your privacy or spy on you, if not secured properly. Recent research conducted by security researchers at threat prevention firm Check Point highlights privacy concern surrounding smart home devices manufactured by LG. Check Point researchers discovered a security vulnerability in LG SmartThinQ smart home devices that allowed them to hijack internet-connected devices like refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers, air conditioners, dryers, and washing machines manufactured by LG. ...and what's worse? Hackers could even remotely take control of LG's Hom-Bot, a camera-equipped robotic vacuum cleaner, and access the live video feed to spy on anything in the device's vicinity. This hack doesn't even require hacker and targeted device to be on the same network. Dubbed HomeHack , the vulnerability resides in the mobile app and cloud app...
Sparring in the Cyber Ring: Using Automated Pentesting to Build Resilience

Sparring in the Cyber Ring: Using Automated Pentesting to Build Resilience

Mar 26, 2025Penetration Testing / Vulnerability
"A boxer derives the greatest advantage from his sparring partner…" — Epictetus, 50–135 AD Hands up. Chin tucked. Knees bent. The bell rings, and both boxers meet in the center and circle. Red throws out three jabs, feints a fourth, and—BANG—lands a right hand on Blue down the center. This wasn't Blue's first day and despite his solid defense in front of the mirror, he feels the pressure. But something changed in the ring; the variety of punches, the feints, the intensity – it's nothing like his coach's simulations. Is my defense strong enough to withstand this? He wonders, do I even have a defense? His coach reassures him "If it weren't for all your practice, you wouldn't have defended those first jabs. You've got a defense—now you need to calibrate it. And that happens in the ring." Cybersecurity is no different. You can have your hands up—deploying the right architecture, policies, and security measures—but the smallest gap in your defense could let an attacker land a kn...
