Bye bye, Flash! Google to Ban Flash-based Advertising

Feb 10, 2016
Google had also joined the path of Apple, Facebook, and Youtube to kill the "Adobe Flash Player" by announcing that the company is banning Flash banner support from its Adwords Advertising platform. "To enhance the browsing experience for more people on more devices, the Google Display Network and DoubleClick Digital Marketing are now going 100% HTML5" Google says. It's been two decades since Adobe Flash has ruled the Web Space Animation Arena, which was the de facto standard for playing the online videos. Flash Player had been famous for Zero-day exploits which are a potential threat to online users. Even Adobe tried to maintain equilibrium by releasing a countless number of patches frequently (that got hiked), for instant reported vulnerabilities, but this had annoyed both customers and companies. The endless troubleshooting of the Flash Player plugins never resolved the vulnerabilities. To put a full stop on this issue... many major t

Adobe to Kill 'FLASH', but by Just Renaming it as 'Adobe Animate CC'

Dec 02, 2015
Adobe is Finally Killing FLASH, but not actually. Adobe Flash made the Internet a better place with slick graphics, animation, games and applications, but it never stood a chance of surviving in the same world as HTML5. Of course, Flash has plagued with various stability and security issues , which is why developers had hated the technology for years. So, now it's time to say GoodBye to Adobe Flash Professional CC, and Welcome Adobe Animate CC . Meet the new Flash, Adobe Animate CC , same as the old Flash, and still insecure mess. Adobe Animate CC Embraces HTML5 Adobe has officially announced that "over a third of all content created in Flash Professional today uses HTML5," so the company is acknowledging the shift with the new name. Adobe Animate CC — Adobe's Premier Web animation tool for developing HTML5 content . Yes, that's what the company has the focus on. The application – mostly looks like an update to the Fla

Firefox Browser to Enable Controversial HTML5 DRM to Stop Piracy

Firefox Browser to Enable Controversial HTML5 DRM to Stop Piracy

May 16, 2014
The Music Industry, Movie Studios and other companies who create media contents are always concerned with people getting access to their content without paying for it. Last year, On Request of Big Tech companies such as Microsoft, Google and Netflix, The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) defined a new API (Application Programming Interface) called ' Encrypted Media Extensions (EME) ' in HTML5 to aid web-based video services in restricting the rights of users who utilize their services. Now the companies won't need to rely on third-party plugins like Flash and Silverlight to deliver copy-protected movies and TV shows to your browser. Instead, now they have same capabilities of Digital rights management (DRM)  right into the fabrics of the web. All other major modern web browsers, including Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Safari are supporting  Encrypted Media Extensions (EME)  within the web browser since last year, except Mozilla Firefox . Even after criticizing the use o

Google Chrome vulnerability allows Websites to Eavesdrop on You

Apr 11, 2014
Just imagine, you are sitting in front of your laptop and your laptop is listening to your nearby conversations. What if the recorded audio from the system's microphone is being instantly uploaded to a malicious website? Google has created a speech-recognition Application Programming Interface (API) that allows websites to interact with Google Chrome and the computer's microphone allows you to speak instead of typing into any text box, to make hands-free web searches, quick conversions, and audio translator also work with them. In January, a flaw was discovered in Google Chrome that enabled malicious websites with speech recognition software to eavesdrop on users' conversations from background without their knowledge using an outdated Google speech API. CHROME IS LISTENING YOU A new similar vulnerability in Google Chrome has been discovered by Israeli security researcher, Guy Aharonovsky, claimed that the Chrome's speech-recognition API has a vulnerability that allo
HTML5 browser exploit can flood your Hard Drive with junk data

HTML5 browser exploit can flood your Hard Drive with junk data

Mar 04, 2013
Feross Aboukhadijeh , 22-year-old Web developer from Stanford has discovered  HTML5 browser exploit can flood your Hard Drive with Cat and Dogs i.e junk data. Many times a website needs to leave a little data i.e 5-10KB on your computer like a cookie, but HTML5 allow sites to store larger amounts of data (like 5-10 MB). In a proof-of-concept he was able to full up 1 GB of HDD space every 16 seconds. He created FillDisk.com in order to demonstrate the exploit in HTML5. Once user will visit the website the Web Storage standard allows website to place large amounts of data on your drive. Please note that, It's not a hack and this exploit won't allow attackers to access your computer. However, Web browsers have the ability to limit just how much space websites can dump onto your hard drive. Firefox's implementation of HTML5 local storage is not vulnerable to this exploit. Whereas Chrome, Safari (iOS and desktop), and IE vulnerable to this. You can fin

Samsung's new OS Tizen 2.0 source code released

Feb 19, 2013
The Tizen 2.0 source code and SDK has officially been released. Tizen is a Linux-based open-source software platform backed by Intel and Samsung Electronics, that is designed for smartphones, tablets, smart TVs and in-car systems and it's designed to run apps written using web technologies including HTML5. The list of new features and updates is an extensive one, though a lot of the changes are under-the-hood and aimed at offering a more attractive platform to application developers. Tizen 2.0 adds new APIs that developers can use to access Bluetooth and NFC function on phones with that hardware, as well as improved developer tools. There have been reports recently that Samsung is planning a line of phones built around the Tizen operating system, to reduce its dependence on Android after Google acquired mobile phone competitor Motorola Mobility. Samsung is already one of the top makers of phones and tablets, but right now the company's fortunes are very much tied into Goo

Firefox 16.0.2 available, Cross site scripting attack patched

Oct 29, 2012
16.0.2 Firefox is now available for anyone who wants to try before anyone else. Mozilla address one serious vulnerability. According to the information security of Mozilla, they has fixed a number of issues related to the Location object in order to enhance overall security. The Location object is supported by all major browsers and contains information about the URL being requested. Security researcher Mariusz Mlynski reported that the true value of window.location could be shadowed by user content through the use of the valueOf method, which can be combined with some plugins to perform a cross-site scripting (XSS) attack on users. Another issue centers on the CheckURL function, which if exploited could be used during an XSS attack or to execute malicious code. On Oct. 9, Mozilla released Firefox 16, but quickly pulled it back after a serious vulnerability was discovered. It was quickly addressed, but not before exploit code was made available. Generally Firefox offers 16 power

Do your ever use YouTube Instant Search engine (a really fast way to search YouTube) ? That was developed by a 21 years old developer name - Feross Aboukhadijeh in 2012. Chad Hurley, CEO and co-founder of YouTube, was so impressed that he immediately offered him a job at YouTube. He a web developer, designer, computer security researcher. Recently he has developed an attack concept that exploits the fullscreen application programming interface in HTML5 in order to carry out advance phishing attacks. The HTML5 "Fullscreen API" allow web developers to display web contents in full-screen mode, that is, filling-up the display screen completely. Fullscreen API is perhaps known for its spoofing potential, leading to major browser vendors canvassing for the implementation of an overlay to notify users when full-screen is activated. Feross demonstrated how the Fullscreen API can aid phishing attack portals appear rather innocuous to the end users, by utilizing the A
