China develops the World's Most Powerful Supercomputer without US chips

Jun 21, 2016
China beats its own record with the World's fastest supercomputer. Sunway TaihuLight , a newly built supercomputer from China, now ranks as the world's most powerful machine. During the International Supercomputer Conference in Germany on Monday, Top500 declared China's 10.65 Million-core Sunway TaihuLight as the world's fastest supercomputer. Moreover, the supercomputer is leading by a wide margin, too. With 93 petaflops of processing power, Sunway TaihuLight is nearly three times more powerful than the world's previous fastest supercomputer, Tianhe-2 , which had been the world's fastest computer for last 3 years with speeds of 33.9 petaflops per second. That's 93 quadrillion floating point operations per second (FLOP), which means the supercomputer can perform around 93,000 trillion calculations per second, at its peak. The Sunway TaihuLight supercomputer is installed at the National Supercomputing Centre in Wuxi. "Sunway TaihuLight, with

NeoKylin: China's Linux OS that Seriously Looks Like Windows XP

Sep 25, 2015
Do You Know:  China has planned to eliminate all foreign Technologies and Services by 2020, just like Google and Facebook . And it seems China in some years would be an entirely independent IT economy; building homegrown Mobile and computer devices, Operating Systems, Applications, Browsers and almost everything existing in the IT ecosystem. Well, China was not at all happy when Microsoft finally announced the end of official support for Windows XP. At the time, Windows holded 91% of total market share, compared to just for Mac OS X and just 1% for Linux. However, China wasn't interested to pay either for extended support for Windows XP or for switching to Windows 8. So, they decided to develop their own Operating System. Yes, China has developed a Desktop Operating System named " NeoKylin " ( and ' Kylin ' in Chinese ), tagged as a substitute to Windows XP by Quartz , who got an opportunity to have a hands-on experience of its "community version" OS. How to Increase Engagement with Your Cybersecurity Clients Through vCISO Reporting

Jul 22, 2024vCISO / Business Security
As a vCISO, you are responsible for your client's cybersecurity strategy and risk governance. This incorporates multiple disciplines, from research to execution to reporting. Recently, we published a comprehensive playbook for vCISOs, "Your First 100 Days as a vCISO – 5 Steps to Success" , which covers all the phases entailed in launching a successful vCISO engagement, along with recommended actions to take, and step-by-step examples.  Following the success of the playbook and the requests that have come in from the MSP/MSSP community, we decided to drill down into specific parts of vCISO reporting and provide more color and examples. In this article, we focus on how to create compelling narratives within a report, which has a significant impact on the overall MSP/MSSP value proposition.  This article brings the highlights of a recent guided workshop we held, covering what makes a successful report and how it can be used to enhance engagement with your cyber security clients.

China has always tried to support its homegrown tech industry and even the security concerns over U.S. secret surveillance which gives Chinese Government another reasons to trust domestic vendors. Many other countries are also in favor to develop their own technology industries to reduce their dependence on U.S. The Government of China is not too fond of foreign mobile operating systems and therefore are trying to break the monopoly of Microsoft, Apple and Google in the country. This week at an event in  Beijing,  China has unveiled its own Linux-based mobile platform, dubbed China Operating System (COS) , developed as a joint effort between a company ' Shanghai Liantong ', ISCAS ( Institute of Software at the Chinese Academy of Sciences ) and the Chinese Government.
