iPhone Hacking Campaign Using MDM Software Is Broader Than Previously Known

iPhone Hacking Campaign Using MDM Software Is Broader Than Previously Known
Jul 25, 2018
India-linked highly targeted mobile malware campaign, first unveiled two weeks ago , has been found to be part of a broader campaign targeting multiple platforms, including windows devices and possibly Android as well. As reported in our previous article , earlier this month researchers at Talos threat intelligence unit discovered a group of Indian hackers abusing mobile device management (MDM) service to hijack and spy on a few targeted iPhone users in India. Operating since August 2015, the attackers have been found abusing MDM service to remotely install malicious versions of legitimate apps, including Telegram, WhatsApp, and PrayTime, onto targeted iPhones. These modified apps have been designed to secretly spy on iOS users, and steal their real-time location, SMS, contacts, photos and private messages from third-party chatting applications. During their ongoing investigation, Talos researchers identified a new MDM infrastructure and several malicious binaries – designed

How to Run Android on your iPhone using this 3D Printed Phone Case

Hackers and geeks always tinkered with their devices, regardless of their operating system, and are always behind the ways to run Android on iPhone, iOS on Android phones, or Dual-Boot iOS and Android together in a single device. Though there are many solutions available on the Internet to solve these queries, but recently a hardware hacker has demonstrated a new way to run Android OS virtually on iPhone within an app i.e. without booting the iOS device. Nick Lee, the CTO of mobile development firm Tendigi, has created a specialized iPhone case, that when connected to your iPhone, will let your iPhone run a full-fledged version of Android operating system. This hack is not the first weird thing Lee did; he previously was able to get his Apple Watch to run Windows 95. Lee showed how everything from WiFi to the Google Play Store to the calculator app worked fine. To run Android on iPhone, Lee first cloned the Android Open Source Project and built his own version of Android M

AI Solutions Are the New Shadow IT

Ambitious Employees Tout New AI Tools, Ignore Serious SaaS Security Risks Like the  SaaS shadow IT  of the past, AI is placing CISOs and cybersecurity teams in a tough but familiar spot.  Employees are covertly using AI  with little regard for established IT and cybersecurity review procedures. Considering  ChatGPT's meteoric rise to 100 million users within 60 days of launch , especially with little sales and marketing fanfare, employee-driven demand for AI tools will only escalate.  As new studies show  some workers boost productivity by 40% using generative AI , the pressure for CISOs and their teams to fast-track AI adoption — and turn a blind eye to unsanctioned AI tool usage — is intensifying.  But succumbing to these pressures can introduce serious SaaS data leakage and breach risks, particularly as employees flock to AI tools developed by small businesses, solopreneurs, and indie developers.
