Hackers Poison Adform Script to Swap Crypto Wallet Addresses Across Customer Sites

Hackers Poison Adform Script to Swap Crypto Wallet Addresses Across Customer Sites

Aug 01, 2026 Web Security / Supply Chain Attack
Attackers modified a JavaScript file served by advertising technology company Adform , turning it into a browser-side tool that rewrites cryptocurrency wallet addresses. Adform detected the incident on July 27, 2026, removed the malicious code, notified affected clients, and reported it to authorities. Anyone who visited a site carrying the affected script on July 27 and copied a Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Tron address may have pasted a different address inserted by the malicious code instead. Adform is telling people to clear their browser cache because the altered file may remain cached after the fix, and to check any wallet address before sending funds. Adform says the code was not designed to install software or establish persistence and operated only while an affected page remained open. The captured sample also rewrites addresses entered directly into form fields, so clipboard copying was not the only path to replacement. The public timeline is unresolved. Adform's noti...

Hackers Exploit AnySign4PC via Hacked Korean Sites to Install Backdoors Without Prompts

Jul 30, 2026 Vulnerability / Web Security
South Korean authorities and four security firms have disclosed a state-sponsored campaign that compromised trusted domestic websites. The attackers used those sites to exploit locally installed financial-security software and infect targeted visitors with SIGNBT or COPPERHEDGE backdoors. A compromised page could infect a system running a vulnerable AnySign4PC version without a prompt or user-initiated download. The Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) says AnySign4PC versions 1.1.4.4 through 1.1.4.6 are affected and lists version 1.1.5.0 as the fixed release. It recommends deleting vulnerable installations. AhnLab refers to two exploited products only as financial-security software A and I. Its report does not disclose their identities, affected or fixed versions, or vulnerability identifiers. AhnLab said it identified evidence of related attacks at 72 organizations in 2026. The company also found 15 legitimate websites used as watering holes. Its investigation also foun...
Amazon Links Debug and Chalk npm Hijack to North Korea’s Sapphire Sleet

Amazon Links Debug and Chalk npm Hijack to North Korea’s Sapphire Sleet

Jul 30, 2026 Software Security / Threat Intelligence
Amazon has tied the September 2025 hijack of the npm packages debug and chalk to North Korea. For ten months, the incident sat in the public record as crypto theft: a maintainer phished through a lookalike npm domain and a wallet-draining script pushed into at least 18 packages carrying more than 2 billion weekly downloads between them. The original Aikido and Wiz reports did not attribute the incident to North Korea. In research published July 29, Amazon Threat Intelligence assesses with medium confidence that the group behind the March 2026 axios compromise was behind it. The same group planted a trojanized file in a small package called typo-crypto in March 2025, according to Amazon, a full year before it reached axios. Analysts found it while chasing a domain registered in 2025 that surfaced during the axios investigation. Downloads were low, but the tradecraft "aligns with what we later observed in attacks on more popular packages," Amazon wrote, and the compa...

Trojanized Newtonsoft.Json Fork Hides Game-Rigging Code in a Working Library

Trojanized Newtonsoft.Json Fork Hides Game-Rigging Code in a Working Library

Jul 22, 2026 Supply Chain Attack / Malware
Cybersecurity researchers have discovered a NuGet typosquat that's unlike the typical information-stealing malware distributed via package registries: usual info-stealers: it's designed to rig live game results on Digitain. The package, named " Newtonsoftt.Json.Net ," masquerades as the Newtonsoft.Json library and is a trojanized fork. Seven versions of the package have been published to the NuGet repository: 11.0.4, 11.0.5, 11.0.7, 11.0.8, 11.0.9, 11.0.10, and 11.0.11. The package has been downloaded about 1,200 times to date. The package has been unlisted by its owner MagicalPuff96, meaning it will not be surfaced via a search on NuGet. However, the artifacts are still available for download from the registry. "The trojan rigs Digitain, an online betting platform, and in later generations, exfiltrates rigged round results to an attacker-controlled server, utilizing the header X-Seq-ApiKey: theperfectheist2025," according to JFrog . What's not...
FakeGit Campaign Uses 7,600 GitHub Repositories to Spread SmartLoader Malware

FakeGit Campaign Uses 7,600 GitHub Repositories to Spread SmartLoader Malware

Jul 20, 2026 Malware / Artificial Intelligence
Cybersecurity researchers have discovered nearly 7,600 malicious GitHub repositories, out of which more than 800 pose as artificial intelligence (AI) skills or Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers to deliver a malware family known as SmartLoader as part of an ongoing campaign codenamed FakeGit . "FakeGit uses copied projects, lookalike developer profiles, convincing READMEs, and malicious ZIP files to deliver SmartLoader malware," Oleg Zaytsev, lead security researcher at Island, said in a report shared with The Hacker News. The end goal of these attacks is to leverage the access afforded by SmartLoader to establish persistence and push secondary payloads, such as StealC, an information stealer capable of harvesting a wide range of data from compromised systems. It's worth mentioning here that the use of trojanized MCP servers to distribute SmartLoader and StealC was flagged earlier this year by Straiker AI and subsequently by Derp.ca . But a concerning aspect ...
OkoBot Malware Framework Injects Seed Phrase Phishing Into Ledger and Trezor Apps

OkoBot Malware Framework Injects Seed Phrase Phishing Into Ledger and Trezor Apps

Jul 15, 2026 Endpoint Security / Malware
A malware framework called OkoBot has been running on Windows machines since April 2025, and one of its modules is built to con hardware wallet owners out of their recovery phrase. On an infected PC, the request comes from inside the wallet's own desktop software. Sometimes it waits until you plug the device in first. The page is malicious. The app around it is the real one you installed, and the phrase is the wallet. Kaspersky's GReAT team  published the teardown  on Wednesday, counting hundreds of victims in its telemetry across more than 25 countries. The largest share of attacked users is in Brazil, Vietnam, Canada, Mexico, and Türkiye. How many of them typed a phrase in, the report does not say. OkoBot carries more than 20 payloads and implants and was still active as of the July 15 report. SeedHunter Waits for the Device SeedHunter is the OkoBot module that steals the phrase. Once the framework lands, it watches for Trezor Suite, Ledger Wallet, and Ledger Live...
Compromised AsyncAPI npm Packages Deliver Multi-Stage Botnet Malware

Compromised AsyncAPI npm Packages Deliver Multi-Stage Botnet Malware

Jul 15, 2026 Malware / Software Security
Four compromised npm packages in the @asyncapi namespace have been observed distributing a multi-stage botnet loader, according to findings from OX Security , SafeDep , Socket , and StepSecurity . The affected packages are listed below - @asyncapi/generator-helpers@1.1.1 @asyncapi/generator-components@0.7.1 @asyncapi/generator@3.3.1 @asyncapi/specs(v6.11.2, v6.11.2-alpha.1) "The compromised packages deploy an obfuscated first-stage payload that downloads an encrypted second-stage payload, identified as Miasma, from IPFS," Socket said. The poisoned packages ship a hidden JavaScript implant, with each of them containing an injected source file that decodes to the same second-stage downloader. Unlike previous iterations that leveraged install hooks to trigger the execution of a JavaScript payload, the malicious code in this case is run when the infected module is loaded by Node.js, after which it launches a detached background node that downloads and execute...
Microsoft Maps Three Salesforce Attack Paths Tied to a Year of ShinyHunters Activity

Microsoft Maps Three Salesforce Attack Paths Tied to a Year of ShinyHunters Activity

Jul 14, 2026 SaaS Security / Identity Security
Attackers whose methods line up with the data-extortion group  ShinyHunters  have spent the past year walking into corporate Salesforce environments without exploiting a single flaw in the platform. The way in has been the trust the organization had already extended, usually through the OAuth connections that tie Salesforce to the apps and third-party vendors around it. In  research published July 13 , Microsoft mapped the campaigns, which ran from mid-2025 into mid-2026, to three distinct techniques. It also worked with Salesforce to roll out new detection and governance tooling aimed at addressing the activity authentication logs miss. That is what makes this hard to catch. When the access comes from a real user who approved a connected app, or from an integration the company already trusts, the traffic reads as ordinary use, and sign-in and authentication monitoring barely registers it. What matters is what the app or account does once it is in, and that is ex...

Miasma Malware Targets npm Packages and GitHub Actions in Supply Chain Attack

Jun 26, 2026 Supply Chain Attack / Developer Security
Cybersecurity researchers have flagged yet another evolution of the supply chain attack linked to the Mini Shai-Hulud, Miasma, and Hades malware family that has compromised a new set of npm packages, even as it has propagated to the Go ecosystem. "The latest activity includes malicious npm releases affecting LeoPlatform and RStreams packages, GitHub Actions workflow abuse, and a related Go module compromise involving the Verana Blockchain project," Socket said . The end goal of the campaign, as before, is to harvest developer or maintainer credentials and weaponize the stolen data to spread across package registries, repositories, and trusted developer workflows. The list of affected packages is below - hexo-deployer-wrangler@1.0.4 hexo-shoka-swiper@0.1.10 leo-auth@4.0.6 leo-aws@2.0.4 leo-cache@1.0.2 leo-cdk-lib@0.0.2 leo-cli@3.0.3 leo-config@1.1.1 leo-connector-elasticsearch@2.0.6 leo-connector-mongo@3.0.8 leo-connector-mysql@3.0.3 ...

Malicious npm Packages Pose as PostCSS Tools to Deliver Windows RAT

Jun 23, 2026 Supply Chain Attack / Developer Security
Cybersecurity researchers have discovered a set of malicious npm packages that are designed to deliver a Windows-based remote access trojan (RAT). The list of identified packages, is below - aes-decode-runner-pro (145 downloads) postcss-minify-selector (256 downloads) postcss-minify-selector-parser (615 downloads) All the packages were published over the past month by an npm user named " abdrizak " and continue to be available for download from npm as of writing.  "Aes-decode-runner-pro and postcss-minify-selector-parser both present themselves as layered AES/custom-codec packages and depend on the legitimate postcss-selector-parser," JFrog said in an analysis. "Postcss-minify-selector presents itself as a PostCSS selector minifier and depends on postcss-minify-selector-parser." As for "postcss-minify-selector-parser," the name is a reference to " postcss-selector-parser ," a widely used npm library with more than 1...

ShapedPlugin WordPress Pro Plugins Backdoored in Supply Chain Attack

Jun 22, 2026 Supply Chain Attack / Malware
Multiple WordPress plugins from ShapedPlugin were compromised in a supply chain attack after unknown threat actors managed to tamper with the official release channels and push backdoor code. "Attackers compromised the vendor's build and distribution pipeline, injecting backdoor code into Pro plugin releases distributed through official licensed update channels," Wordfence said in an analysis published last week. The incident affects the following plugins and versions - Product Slider Pro for WooCommerce 3.5.2 Real Testimonials Pro 3.2.4 and 3.2.5 Smart Post Show Pro 4.0.1 As mentioned above, it's worth emphasizing that the compromise only affects Pro plugin builds distributed through the vendor's Easy Digital Downloads (EDD) infrastructure via account.shapedplugin[.]com. The free versions of the plugins on WordPress.org are not impacted. The supply chain compromise is being tracked as CVE-2026-10735 (CVSS score: 9.8). An earlier identifier,...

CISA Warns of Actively Exploited Joomla JCE Flaw Allowing PHP Code Execution

Jun 17, 2026 Vulnerability / Supply Chain Attack
The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) on Tuesday added a maximum-severity security flaw impacting Widget Factory Joomla Content Editor (JCE) to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog, citing evidence of active exploitation. The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2026-48907 (CVSS score: 10.0), is a case of improper access control that could facilitate arbitrary code execution. "Widget Factory Joomla Content Editor contains an improper access control vulnerability which could allow for upload and execution of PHP code via the creation of new editor profiles for unauthenticated users," CISA said . According to a description of the vulnerability published on CVE.org, the issue resides in the JCE editor extension for Joomla, allowing a bad actor to create new editor profiles for unauthenticated users, effectively paving the way for PHP code upload and execution. The issue impacts JCE versions from 1.0.0 through 2.9.99.4. It has been pa...

North Korean Hackers Are Turning Developer Tools Into Malware Delivery Channels

Jun 15, 2026 Malware / Supply Chain Attack
Cybersecurity researchers have flagged two malicious cyber campaigns that exhibit similarities with a persistent North Korean threat cluster known as Contagious Interview (aka Famous Chollima, HexagonalRodent, and Void Dokkaebi). According to a report published by Proofpoint, the threat actor has been found orchestrating phishing campaigns using developer role recruitment or code review themes to target nearly 100 organizations in finance, cryptocurrency, education, technology, and several other sectors. The activity has been codenamed UNK_DeadDrop . "The infection chain begins with emails containing links to actor-controlled GitHub repositories hosting malicious scripts that result in the execution of cross-platform malware for macOS, Linux, and Windows, including an open-source Go framework named Overlord ," Proofpoint researchers Saher Naumaan and Carlos Rubio said . A crucial aspect connecting the campaign to Pyongyang is the use of Microsoft Visual Studio Code (...
Popular WordPress Plugin Scripts Tampered to Plant Hidden Backdoors on Sites

Popular WordPress Plugin Scripts Tampered to Plant Hidden Backdoors on Sites

Jun 15, 2026 Web Security / Supply Chain Attack
An attacker tampered with trusted JavaScript files used by WordPress sites running PushEngage , OptinMonster , and TrustPulse , turning those files into a way to break into the sites. When a site administrator was logged in as the file loaded, the code created an admin account under the attacker's control and installed a hidden plugin that opened a way back in. Ordinary visitors did not trigger it. Any site that was hit should be treated as compromised. All three plugins are run by one company, Awesome Motive, which had not commented on the two larger plugins as of June 15. Security firm Sansec disclosed the wider campaign on June 13, finding the same malicious code in JavaScript served for all three plugins. PushEngage followed a day later with its own incident notice , confirming an attacker had served tampered copies of its script and that sites loading them could be taken over. PushEngage, acquired by Awesome Motive years ago, is so far the only one of the three to ...
Over 400 Arch Linux AUR Packages Hijacked to Deploy Infostealer and eBPF Rootkit

Over 400 Arch Linux AUR Packages Hijacked to Deploy Infostealer and eBPF Rootkit

Jun 12, 2026 Linux / Supply Chain Attack
Attackers took over more than 400 packages in the Arch User Repository (AUR) this week and rewrote their build scripts to install a credential stealer on any machine that built them. The malware is a Rust binary built to harvest developer secrets. When it lands with root, it can also load an eBPF rootkit to hide itself. The AUR is Arch Linux's community package collection, and it is separate from the official Arch repositories, which were not affected. If you installed or updated an AUR package on or after June 11, check it against the current affected-package lists before trusting the host. The list of names is large, still growing, and not yet complete. This attack goes after the trust model, not a software flaw. The compromised packages kept their names, their histories, and the trust that came with them. Only the build instructions changed. The trap sat in the recipe, leaving the package itself looking exactly like the software users meant to install. No exploit, no ze...
OceanLotus Hits Vietnam Investors With SPECTRALVIPER in FireAnt Attack

OceanLotus Hits Vietnam Investors With SPECTRALVIPER in FireAnt Attack

Jun 11, 2026 Supply Chain Attack / Cyber Espionage
The Vietnam-aligned threat actor known as OceanLotus has been attributed to two distinct campaigns that targeted domestic entities and stock investors with a backdoor known as SPECTRALVIPER. The campaigns involve a prolonged cyber espionage operation aimed at a Vietnamese infrastructure and transport construction corporation between mid-2024 and February 2026, as well as a supply chain attack leveraging FireAnt Metakit, a popular software platform used by stock investors in Vietnam. The second activity cluster took place from October 2025 to March 2026. The two sets of attacks represent a shift in operational focus, per ESET, with the threat actor placing an increasing emphasis on domestic espionage rather than external targets. The group, active since 2012, also has a history of targeting China . "Whether the shift represents a temporary adjustment or a long-term strategic change remains unclear; however, this 15-year-old APT group continues to demonstrate aggressive tact...

Miasma Supply Chain Attack Compromises Red Hat npm Packages with Credential-Stealing Worm

Jun 01, 2026 Supply Chain Attack / Software Security
A new Mini Shai-Hulud supply chain attack campaign, codenamed Miasma , has compromised @redhat-cloud-services packages to steal credentials and secrets from developer machines and deliver a self-propagating worm. "This is effectively a Mini Shai-Hulud campaign: it uses the same core tactics of install-time execution, credential harvesting, CI/CD targeting, encrypted exfiltration, and potential downstream propagation," Socket said . Exactly who is behind the attack activity is presently unknown given that TeamPCP (aka Replicating Marauder, TGR-CRI-1135, and UNC6780), an infamous cybercrime group, has open-sourced the attack tools linked to the Shai-Hulud worm, opening the door for other threat actors to pull off similar attacks and making definitive attribution harder. The names of some of the affected packages are listed below - @redhat-cloud-services/vulnerabilities-client @redhat-cloud-services/tsc-transform-imports @redhat-cloud-services/topological-inv...
OpenAI Codex Authentication Tokens Stolen in codexui-android npm Supply Chain Attack

OpenAI Codex Authentication Tokens Stolen in codexui-android npm Supply Chain Attack

Jun 01, 2026 API Security / Cloud Security
Cybersecurity researchers have disclosed details of a new malicious supply chain campaign that's targeting developers using OpenAI Codex through a legitimate-looking remote web UI. The tool, named codexui-android , is advertised on GitHub and npm as a remote web UI for OpenAI Codex, attracting over 29,000 weekly downloads. The package is still available for download from the repository. What makes this activity noteworthy is that it's not a traditional attack that uses a typosquat or throwaway package to trick developers. Rather, the malicious code is embedded into a functional npm package that has undergone active development. The associated GitHub repository remains clean. "And for the past month, every single invocation has been quietly exfiltrating your Codex authentication tokens to an attacker-controlled server," Aikido Security researcher Charlie Eriksen said . The nefarious changes are said to have been introduced about a month after the package was ...
