Researchers Uncover 20+ Configuration Risks, Including Five CVEs, in Salesforce Industry Cloud

Researchers Uncover 20+ Configuration Risks, Including Five CVEs, in Salesforce Industry Cloud

Jun 10, 2025 Vulnerability / SaaS Security
Cybersecurity researchers have uncovered over 20 configuration-related risks affecting Salesforce Industry Cloud (aka Salesforce Industries ), exposing sensitive data to unauthorized internal and external parties. The weaknesses affect various components like FlexCards, Data Mappers, Integration Procedures (IProcs), Data Packs, OmniOut, and OmniScript Saved Sessions. "Low-code platforms such as Salesforce Industry Cloud make building applications easier, but that convenience can come at a cost if security isn't prioritized," Aaron Costello, chief of SaaS Security Research at AppOmni, said in a statement shared with The Hacker News. These misconfigurations, if left unaddressed, could allow cybercriminals and unauthorized to access encrypted confidential data on employees and customers, session data detailing how users have interacted with Salesforce Industry Cloud, credentials for Salesforce and other company systems, and business logic. Following responsible discl...
Google Exposes Vishing Group UNC6040 Targeting Salesforce with Fake Data Loader App

Google Exposes Vishing Group UNC6040 Targeting Salesforce with Fake Data Loader App

Jun 04, 2025 Threat Intelligence / Data Breach
Google has disclosed details of a financially motivated threat cluster that it said "specializes" in voice phishing (aka vishing ) campaigns designed to breach organizations' Salesforce instances for large-scale data theft and subsequent extortion. The tech giant's threat intelligence team is tracking the activity under the moniker UNC6040 , which it said exhibits characteristics that align with threat groups with ties to an online cybercrime collective known as The Com . "Over the past several months, UNC6040 has demonstrated repeated success in breaching networks by having its operators impersonate IT support personnel in convincing telephone-based social engineering engagements," the company said in a report shared with The Hacker News. This approach, Google's Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG) added, has had the benefit of tricking English-speaking employees into performing actions that give the threat actors access or lead to the sharing of valua...
Your SaaS Data Isn't Safe: Why Traditional DLP Solutions Fail in the Browser Era

Your SaaS Data Isn't Safe: Why Traditional DLP Solutions Fail in the Browser Era

Jun 04, 2025 Browser Security / Enterprise Security
Traditional data leakage prevention (DLP) tools aren't keeping pace with the realities of how modern businesses use SaaS applications. Companies today rely heavily on SaaS platforms like Google Workspace, Salesforce, Slack, and generative AI tools, significantly altering the way sensitive information is handled. In these environments, data rarely appears as traditional files or crosses networks in ways endpoint or network-based DLP tools can monitor. Yet, most companies continue using legacy DLP systems, leaving critical security gaps. A new white paper, Rethinking DLP For The SaaS Era: Why Browser-Centric DLP is the New Mandate , identifies precisely why current DLP methods struggle to secure modern SaaS-driven workflows. It also explores how browser-native security addresses these gaps by focusing security efforts exactly where user interactions occur, in the browser. Why Traditional DLP Tools Fall Short Traditional DLP solutions were built for a simpler time when sensitive...

Phishers Exploit Salesforce's Email Services Zero-Day in Targeted Facebook Campaign

Phishers Exploit Salesforce's Email Services Zero-Day in Targeted Facebook Campaign

Aug 02, 2023 Vulnerability /
A sophisticated Facebook phishing campaign has been observed exploiting a zero-day flaw in Salesforce's email services, allowing threat actors to craft targeted phishing messages using the company's domain and infrastructure. "Those phishing campaigns cleverly evade conventional detection methods by chaining the Salesforce vulnerability and legacy quirks in Facebook's Web Games platform," Guardio Labs researchers Oleg Zaytsev and Nati Tal  said  in a report shared with The Hacker News. The email messages masquerade as coming from Meta, while being sent from an email address with a "@salesforce.com" domain. They seek to trick recipients into clicking on a link by claiming that their Facebook accounts are undergoing a "comprehensive investigation" due to "suspicions of engaging in impersonation." The goal is to direct users to a rogue landing page that's designed to capture the victim's account credentials and two-factor aut...
Beware of Ghost Sites: Silent Threat Lurking in Your Salesforce Communities

Beware of Ghost Sites: Silent Threat Lurking in Your Salesforce Communities

May 31, 2023 Data protection / Cyber Threat
Improperly deactivated and abandoned Salesforce  Sites  and  Communities  (aka Experience Cloud) could pose severe risks to organizations, leading to unauthorized access to sensitive data. Data security firm Varonis dubbed the abandoned, unprotected, and unmonitored resources " ghost sites ." "When these Communities are no longer needed, though, they are often set aside but not deactivated," Varonis Threat Labs researchers  said  in a new report shared with The Hacker News. "Because these unused sites are not maintained, they aren't tested against vulnerabilities, and Admins fail to update the site's security measures according to newer guidelines." Varonis said it found many of these deactivated (but still active) sites still fetching new data, thereby allowing threat actors to extract data by manipulating the  host header  in the HTTP request. Identifying the complete internal URLs associated with the sites is challenging but not impossi...
Heroku Forces User Password Resets Following GitHub OAuth Token Theft

Heroku Forces User Password Resets Following GitHub OAuth Token Theft

May 05, 2022
Salesforce-owned subsidiary Heroku on Thursday acknowledged that the theft of GitHub integration OAuth tokens further involved unauthorized access to an internal customer database. The company, in an  updated notification , revealed that a compromised token was abused to breach the database and "exfiltrate the hashed and salted passwords for customers' user accounts." As a consequence, Salesforce said it's resetting all Heroku user passwords and ensuring that potentially affected credentials are refreshed. It also emphasized that internal Heroku credentials were rotated and extra detections have been put in place. The attack campaign, which GitHub  discovered  on April 12, related to an unidentified actor leveraging stolen OAuth user tokens issued to two third-party OAuth integrators, Heroku and Travis-CI, to download data from dozens of organizations, including NPM. The timeline of events as shared by the cloud platform is as follows - April 7, 2022  - Threa...
Salesforce Release Updates — A Cautionary Tale for Security Teams

Salesforce Release Updates — A Cautionary Tale for Security Teams

Aug 05, 2021
On the surface, Salesforce seems like a classic Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform. Someone might even argue that Salesforce invented the SaaS market. However, the more people work with the full offering of Salesforce, the more they realize that it goes beyond a traditional SaaS platform's capabilities. For example, few people talk about managing the security aspects of  Salesforce Release Updates.  By understanding what Release Updates are, why they pose a security risk, and how security teams can mitigate risk, Salesforce customers can better protect sensitive information. How to ensure the right configurations for your Salesforce security What are Salesforce Release Updates? Since Salesforce does not automatically update its platform, it does not follow the traditional SaaS model. For example, most SaaS platforms have two types of releases, security, and product improvements. Urgent security updates are released as soon as a security vulnerability is known, and prod...
