Critical Commvault Command Center Flaw Enables Attackers to Execute Code Remotely

Critical Commvault Command Center Flaw Enables Attackers to Execute Code Remotely

Apr 24, 2025 Data Breach / Vulnerability
A critical security flaw has been disclosed in the Commvault Command Center that could allow arbitrary code execution on affected installations. The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2025-34028 , carries a CVSS score of 9.0 out of a maximum of 10.0. "A critical security vulnerability has been identified in the Command Center installation, allowing remote attackers to execute arbitrary code without authentication," Commvault said in an advisory published on April 17, 2025. "This vulnerability could lead to a complete compromise of the Command Center environment." It impacts the 11.38 Innovation Release, from versions 11.38.0 through 11.38.19, and has been resolved in the following versions - 11.38.20 11.38.25 watchTowr Labs researcher Sonny Macdonald, who has been credited with discovering and reporting the flaw on April 7, 2025, said in a report shared with The Hacker News that it could be exploited to achieve pre-authenticated remote code execution. Specif...
Microsoft SharePoint Connector Flaw Could've Enabled Credential Theft Across Power Platform

Microsoft SharePoint Connector Flaw Could've Enabled Credential Theft Across Power Platform

Feb 04, 2025 Vulnerability / SharePoint
Cybersecurity researchers have disclosed details of a now-patched vulnerability impacting the Microsoft SharePoint connector on Power Platform that, if successfully exploited, could allow threat actors to harvest a user's credentials and stage follow-on attacks. This could manifest in the form of post-exploitation actions that allow the attacker to send requests to the SharePoint API on behalf of the impersonated user, enabling unauthorized access to sensitive data, Zenity Labs said in a report shared with The Hacker News ahead of publication. "This vulnerability can be exploited across Power Automate, Power Apps, Copilot Studio, and Copilot 365, which significantly broadens the scope of potential damage," senior security researcher Dmitry Lozovoy said . "It increases the likelihood of a successful attack, allowing hackers to target multiple interconnected services within the Power Platform ecosystem." Following responsible disclosure in September 2024, ...
5 Reasons Device Management Isn't Device Trust

5 Reasons Device Management Isn't Device Trust

Apr 21, 2025Endpoint Security / Zero Trust
The problem is simple: all breaches start with initial access, and initial access comes down to two primary attack vectors – credentials and devices. This is not news; every report you can find on the threat landscape depicts the same picture.  The solution is more complex. For this article, we'll focus on the device threat vector. The risk they pose is significant, which is why device management tools like Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) are essential components of an organization's security infrastructure. However, relying solely on these tools to manage device risk actually creates a false sense of security. Instead of the blunt tools of device management, organizations are looking for solutions that deliver device trust . Device trust provides a comprehensive, risk-based approach to device security enforcement, closing the large gaps left behind by traditional device management solutions. Here are 5 of those limitations and how to ov...
Sandbox Escape Vulnerabilities in Judge0 Expose Systems to Complete Takeover

Sandbox Escape Vulnerabilities in Judge0 Expose Systems to Complete Takeover

Apr 29, 2024 Sandbox / Vulnerability
Multiple critical security flaws have been disclosed in the Judge0 open-source online code execution system that could be exploited to obtain code execution on the target system. The three flaws, all critical in nature, allow an "adversary with sufficient access to perform a sandbox escape and obtain root permissions on the host machine," Australian cybersecurity firm Tanto Security said in a report published today. Judge0 (pronounced "judge zero") is  described  by its maintainers as a "robust, scalable, and open-source online code execution system" that can be used to build applications that require online code execution features such as candidate assessment, e-learning, and online code editors and IDEs. According to its website, the service is used by 23 customers like AlgoDaily, CodeChum, and PYnative, among others. The project has been  forked 412 times on GitHub  to date. The flaw...

Ivanti Vulnerability Exploited to Install 'DSLog' Backdoor on 670+ IT Infrastructures

Ivanti Vulnerability Exploited to Install 'DSLog' Backdoor on 670+ IT Infrastructures

Feb 13, 2024 Vulnerability / Cyber Threat
Threat actors are leveraging a recently disclosed security flaw impacting Ivanti Connect Secure, Policy Secure, and ZTA gateways to deploy a backdoor codenamed  DSLog  on susceptible devices. That's according to  findings  from Orange Cyberdefense, which said it observed the exploitation of CVE-2024-21893 within hours of the public release of the proof-the-concept (PoC) code. CVE-2024-21893, which was  disclosed  by Ivanti late last month alongside CVE-2024-21888, refers to a server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in the SAML module that, if successfully exploited, could permit access to otherwise restricted resources sans any authentication. The Utah-based company has since acknowledged that the flaw has limited targeted attacks, although the exact scale of the compromises is unclear. Then, last week, the Shadowserver Foundation  revealed  a surge in exploitation attempts targeting the vulnerability originating from over 170 uniqu...
