Antivirus Pioneer John McAfee Found Dead in Spanish Jail

Controversial mogul and antivirus pioneer John McAfee on Wednesday died by suicide in a jail cell in Barcelona, hours after reports that he would be extradited to face federal charges in the U.S. McAfee was 75. He is said to have died by hanging "as his nine months in prison brought him to despair," according to McAfee's lawyer Javier Villalba, Reuters  reported . Security personnel at the Brians 2 prison tried to revive McAfee, but he was eventually declared dead, per  Associated Press . News of his death comes after Spain's National Court approved his extradition to the U.S. to face federal criminal tax evasion charges. McAfee worked for NASA, Xerox, and Lockheed Martin before launching the world's first commercial antivirus software in 1987. He later resigned from the namesake security firm in 1994. John McAfee accused of murder, wanted by Belize police

John McAfee, who started the antivirus software giant named after him, has been accused of murder in Belize and wanted.  Gizmodo reports that McAfee has been living in Belize for a while now, spending most of his time there experimenting with drugs. McAfee's marketing slogan: " Safe is not a privilege. It is a right. " This news comes just a few days after Gizmodo ran a long story about McAfee's increasingly erratic and borderline criminal behavior. In it, he sounds paranoid as he talks about people wanting to take his money and kill him and he admits to having associated with gangsters in Belize. McAfee had taken to " posting on a drug-focused Russian message board...about his attempts to purify the psychoactive compounds colloquially known as 'bath salts, '" Gizmodo wrote. The scariest aspect of this story may be the fact that an entire lab was constructed for John McAfee's research purposes.
