Fortinet Releases Patch for Critical SQL Injection Flaw in FortiWeb (CVE-2025-25257)

Fortinet has released fixes for a critical security flaw impacting FortiWeb that could enable an unauthenticated attacker to run arbitrary database commands on susceptible instances. Tracked as CVE-2025-25257, the vulnerability carries a CVSS score of 9.6 out of a maximum of 10.0. "An improper neutralization of special elements used in an SQL command ('SQL Injection') vulnerability [CWE-89] in FortiWeb may allow an unauthenticated attacker to execute unauthorized SQL code or commands via crafted HTTP or HTTPs requests," Fortinet said in an advisory released this week. Fortinet Issues Patches for 40 Flaws Affecting FortiWeb, FortiOS, FortiNAC, and FortiProxy

Fortinet has released security updates to  address 40 vulnerabilities  in its software lineup, including FortiWeb, FortiOS, FortiNAC, and FortiProxy, among others. Two of the 40 flaws are rated Critical, 15 are rated High, 22 are rated Medium, and one is rated Low in severity. Top of the list is a severe bug residing in the FortiNAC network access control solution (CVE-2022-39952, CVSS score: 9.8) that could lead to arbitrary code execution. "An external control of file name or path vulnerability [CWE-73] in FortiNAC web server may allow an unauthenticated attacker to perform arbitrary write on the system," Fortinet  said  in an advisory earlier this week. The products impacted by the vulnerability are as follows - FortiNAC version 9.4.0 FortiNAC version 9.2.0 through 9.2.5 FortiNAC version 9.1.0 through 9.1.7 FortiNAC 8.8 all versions FortiNAC 8.7 all versions FortiNAC 8.6 all versions FortiNAC 8.5 all versions, and FortiNAC 8.3 all versions Patches...

Unpatched Remote Hacking Flaw Disclosed in Fortinet's FortiWeb WAF

Details have emerged about a new unpatched security vulnerability in Fortinet's web application firewall (WAF) appliances that could be abused by a remote, authenticated attacker to execute malicious commands on the system. "An OS command injection vulnerability in FortiWeb's management interface (version 6.3.11 and prior) can allow a remote, authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the system, via the SAML server configuration page," cybersecurity firm Rapid7  said  in an advisory published Tuesday. "This vulnerability appears to be related to  CVE-2021-22123 , which was addressed in  FG-IR-20-120 ." Rapid7 said it discovered and reported the issue in June 2021. Fortinet is expected to release a patch at the end of August with version Fortiweb 6.4.1.
