A Simple Bug Revealed Admins of Facebook Pages — Find Out How

Feb 28, 2018
Facebook Page admins are publicly displayed only if admins have chosen to feature their profiles. However, there are some situations where you might want to contact a Facebook page admin or want to find out who is the owner of a Facebook page. Egyptian security researcher Mohamed A. Baset has discovered a severe information disclosure vulnerability in Facebook that could have allowed anyone to expose Facebook page administrator profiles, which is otherwise not supposed to be public information. Baset claimed to have discovered the vulnerability in less than 3 minutes without any kind of testing or proof of concepts, or any other type of time-consuming processes. In a blog post , Baset said he found the vulnerability, which he described as a "logical error," after receiving an invitation to like a particular Facebook page on which he had previously liked a post. When a pet dies, or your friend's family member passed away, clicking the 'Like ' button to express your sympathy doesn't feel comfortable. Here a user feels a need of something to express their sadness, disagreement, anger, or something other than 'Like': Facebook should have an empathetic " Dislike " button - or something similar. Vulnerability Management (VM) has long been a cornerstone of organizational cybersecurity. Nearly as old as the discipline of cybersecurity itself, it aims to help organizations identify and address potential security issues before they become serious problems. Yet, in recent years, the limitations of this approach have become increasingly evident.  At its core, Vulnerability Management processes remain essential for identifying and addressing weaknesses. But as time marches on and attack avenues evolve, this approach is beginning to show its age. In a recent report, How to Grow Vulnerability Management into Exposure Management (Gartner, How to Grow Vulnerability Management Into Exposure Management, 8 November 2024, Mitchell Schneider Et Al.), we believe Gartner® addresses this point precisely and demonstrates how organizations can – and must – shift from a vulnerability-centric strategy to a broader Exposure Management (EM) framework. We feel it's more than a worthwhile read an...

Do you own a Facebook Business page? If yes, then you will notice a drop in the number of "likes" on your Facebook Page by next week, which could be quite disappointing but, Facebook believes, will help business to know their actual followers. FACEBOOK'S OFFICIAL MASS AUTO-UNLIKE The social network giant is giving its Pages a little spring cleaning, purging them of memorialized and voluntarily deactivated inactive Facebook accounts in an attempt to make its users data more meaningful for businesses and brands. Facebook purge will begin from March 12, Facebook said, and should continue over the next few weeks. " Over the coming weeks, Page admins should expect to see a small dip in their number of Page likes as a result of this update, " Facebook said in a blog post. " It's important to remember, though, that these removed likes represent people who were already inactive on Facebook. " FACEBOOK TO DETECT FAKE FOLLOWERS Facebook is ...
