Securing Data in the AI Era

7月 11, 2025 Data Security / Enterprise Security
The 2025 Data Risk Report : Enterprises face potentially serious data loss risks from AI-fueled tools. Adopting a unified, AI-driven approach to data security can help. As businesses increasingly rely on cloud-driven platforms and AI-powered tools to accelerate digital transformation, the stakes for safeguarding sensitive enterprise data have reached unprecedented levels. The Zscaler ThreatLabz 2025 Data Risk Report reveals how evolving technology landscapes are amplifying vulnerabilities, highlighting the critical need for a proactive and unified approach to data protection. Drawing on insights from more than 1.2 billion blocked transactions recorded by the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange between February and December 2024, this year's report paints a clear picture of the data security challenges that enterprises face. From the rise of data leakage through generative AI tools to the undiminished risks stemming from email, SaaS applications, and file-sharing services, the findings are b...
Iranian APT35 Hackers Targeting Israeli Tech Experts with AI-Powered Phishing Attacks

Iranian APT35 Hackers Targeting Israeli Tech Experts with AI-Powered Phishing Attacks

6月 26, 2025 Cyber Espionage / Malware
An Iranian state-sponsored hacking group associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has been linked to a spear-phishing campaign targeting journalists, high-profile cyber security experts, and computer science professors in Israel. "In some of those campaigns, Israeli technology and cyber security professionals were approached by attackers who posed as fictitious assistants to technology executives or researchers through emails and WhatsApp messages," Check Point said in a report published Wednesday. "The threat actors directed victims who engaged with them to fake Gmail login pages or Google Meet invitations." The cybersecurity company attributed the activity to a threat cluster it tracks as Educated Manticore , which overlaps with APT35 (and its sub-cluster APT42 ), CALANQUE, Charming Kitten, CharmingCypress, Cobalt Illusion, ITG18, Magic Hound, Mint Sandstorm (formerly Phosphorus), Newscaster, TA453, and Yellow Garuda. The advanced persist...
SonicWall NetExtender Trojan and ConnectWise Exploits Used in Remote Access Attacks

SonicWall NetExtender Trojan and ConnectWise Exploits Used in Remote Access Attacks

6月 25, 2025 VPN Security / Malware
Unknown threat actors have been distributing a trojanized version of SonicWall's SSL VPN NetExtender application to steal credentials from unsuspecting users who may have installed it. "NetExtender enables remote users to securely connect and run applications on the company network," SonicWall researcher Sravan Ganachari said . "Users can upload and download files, access network drives, and use other resources as if they were on the local network." The malicious payload delivered via the rogue VPN software has been codenamed SilentRoute by Microsoft, which detected the campaign along with the network security company. SonicWall said the malware-laced NetExtender impersonates the latest version of the software (10.3.2.27) and has been found to be distributed via a fake website that has since been taken down. The installer is digitally signed by CITYLIGHT MEDIA PRIVATE LIMITED." This suggests that the campaign is targeting users searching for NetExten...

Iranian and Russian Entities Sanctioned for Election Interference Using AI and Cyber Tactics

Iranian and Russian Entities Sanctioned for Election Interference Using AI and Cyber Tactics

1月 01, 2025 Generative AI / Election Interference
The U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on Tuesday leveled sanctions against two entities in Iran and Russia for their attempts to interfere with the November 2024 presidential election. The federal agency said the entities – a subordinate organization of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and a Moscow-based affiliate of Russia's Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) – sought to influence the electoral outcome and divide the American people through targeted disinformation campaigns. "As affiliates of the IRGC and GRU, these actors aimed to stoke socio-political tensions and influence the U.S. electorate during the 2024 U.S. election," it noted in a press release. In August 2024, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) jointly accused Iran of attempting to undermine democratic processes, including b...

Who's Experimenting with AI Tools in Your Organization?

10月 23, 2023 Artificial Intelligence / Cybersecurity
With the record-setting growth of consumer-focused AI productivity tools like ChatGPT, artificial intelligence—formerly the realm of data science and engineering teams—has become a resource available to every employee.  From a productivity perspective, that's fantastic. Unfortunately for IT and security teams, it also means you may have hundreds of people in your organization using a new tool in a matter of days, with no visibility of what type of data they're sending to that tool or how secure it might be. And because many of these tools are free or offer free trials, there's no barrier to entry and no way of discovering them through procurement or expense reports.  Organizations need to understand and (quickly) evaluate the benefits and  risks of AI productivity tools  in order to create a scalable, enforceable, and reasonable policy to guide their employees' behavior.  How Nudge Security can help Nudge Security discovers all generative AI accounts ever c...
