GhostAction Attackers Target Nearly 23,000 GitHub Repos with Credential-Stealing Malware

GhostAction Attackers Target Nearly 23,000 GitHub Repos with Credential-Stealing Malware

Oct 19, 2026 Developer Security / Supply Chain
The threat actor behind the GhostAction supply chain attack has expanded beyond injecting malicious GitHub Actions workflows into compromised projects to phish open-source developers and deliver a stealer malware disguised within a fake font file. The latest evolution, detailed by OpenSourceMalware, signals that the attackers are actively refining their modus operandi in response to steps taken by GitHub to prevent the workflow from running. According to the threat intelligence platform, the threat actor registered the domain " my-github[.]com " and pointed it at " 193.32.204[.]199 ," the same IP address that's used as an exfiltration endpoint for data harvested from running the malicious workflow. The domain was registered on October 9, 2026, 17 days after " my-gitlab[.]com " was registered. There is no evidence at this stage to suggest that the two code-hosting-themed domains are operated by the same threat actor. "It follows the sam...

ThreatsDay: AI Compute Hijacking, Apple Email Flaw, BlueHammer Ransomware + 14 Stories

Jul 02, 2026 Hacking News / Cybersecurity News
This week’s security news is mostly about weak spots. Browsers, bots, sandboxes, AI systems, and email flows all show the same problem in different ways. Everything looks normal until someone tests a small gap and finds a way through. This is not one big break. It is small permissions, weak checks, open systems, and normal tools doing things they were allowed to do. That same pattern runs through the stories below.

ThreatsDay Bulletin: AI Prompt RCE, Claude 0-Click, RenEngine Loader, Auto 0-Days & 25+ Stories

Threat activity this week shows one consistent signal — attackers are leaning harder on what already works. Instead of flashy new exploits, many operations are built around quiet misuse of trusted tools, familiar workflows, and overlooked exposures that sit in plain sight. Another shift is how access is gained versus how it’s used. Initial entry points are getting simpler, while post-compromise activity is becoming more deliberate, structured, and persistent. The objective is less about disruption and more about staying embedded long enough to extract value. There’s also growing overlap between cybercrime, espionage tradecraft, and opportunistic intrusion. Techniques are bleeding across groups, making attribution harder and defense baselines less reliable. Below is this week’s ThreatsDay Bulletin — a tight scan of the signals that matter, distilled into quick reads. Each item adds context to where threat pressure is building next.
