"We are working to provide a high-quality security update that addresses this vulnerability."  The development comes nearly a week after a security researcher named Chaotic Eclipse (aka Nightmare-Eclipse) released RoguePlanet, calling the exploit a case of a race condition that grants attackers a shell with SYSTEM-level privileges. "The exploit is a race condition, so it's a hit or miss," the researcher noted. "I have managed to get a 100% success rate on some machines while it...
Cisco Releases Security Updates for Actively Exploited SD-WAN Manager Flaw

Cisco Releases Security Updates for Actively Exploited SD-WAN Manager Flaw

Jun 16, 2026 Vulnerability / Network Security
Cisco has released security updates for a medium-severity security flaw in Catalyst SD-WAN Manager that has come under active exploitation in the wild. The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2026-20262 , carries a CVSS score of 6.5 out of 10.0. "A vulnerability in the web UI of Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN Manager, formerly SD-WAN vManage, could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to create a file or overwrite any file on the filesystem of an affected system," Cisco said in an advisory. The issue, the networking equipment company added, stems from inadequate validation of user-supplied input during a file upload process. An attacker could exploit this behavior to create or overwrite any file on the underlying operating system by sending crafted HTTP requests to an affected API endpoint. This, in turn, could be weaponized to elevate to the root. However, successful exploitation hinges on the attacker already having valid credentials with at least write access. The vulnerab...

LiteLLM Vulnerability Chain Lets Low-Privilege Users Take Over AI Gateway Servers

Jun 15, 2026 Artificial Intelligence / Vulnerability
A default low-privilege account on a LiteLLM proxy can climb to full admin and run code on the server by chaining three vulnerabilities, researchers at Obsidian Security disclosed LiteLLM is a widely deployed open-source AI gateway that brokers calls to more than 100 model providers behind one OpenAI-compatible interface. A server takeover exposes every provider key it holds, the secrets that decrypt its stored credentials, and every prompt and response passing through it. Obsidian rates the full chain CVSS 9.9, in the Critical range. BerriAI , the maintainer, included the complete fix set in LiteLLM v1.83.14-stable, which GitHub lists as released May 2. Upgrade to that release or later to close the three-CVE chain. The three bugs The first link is CVE-2026-47101 , an authorization bypass. When a regular user (an internal_user) generates a virtual API key, LiteLLM stores the caller-supplied allowed_routes field without checking it against the user's role. The field is...

New GreatXML Exploit Bypasses Windows BitLocker via Recovery Partition XML Files

Jun 11, 2026 Endpoint Security / Vulnerability
Security researcher Chaotic Eclipse (aka Nightmare-Eclipse and MSNightmare) has released a new Windows BitLocker bypass dubbed GreatXML , a day after they published an exploit for Microsoft Defender. "This was an accidental discovery, it took a total of 4 hours to find this," the researcher said in a post on Blogger. "If you ever attempted to use Windows Defender Offline Scan , you're automatically vulnerable to a BitLocker bypass. I'm unsure if you can still trigger the bug without ever using the offline scan feature, because you can definitely." The exploit works as follows - Copy an XML file ("unattend.xml") and a recovery folder containing another XML file ("Recovery/WindowsRE/ReAgent.xml") to the root of the recovery partition. Reboot to Windows Recovery Environment ( WinRE ) by holding Shift while clicking Restart in the Windows power menu. If every step is followed correctly, the result is a shell spawned with unre...

Microsoft Defender RoguePlanet Zero-Day Grants SYSTEM Access on Updated Windows

Jun 10, 2026 Zero-Day / Vulnerability
The anonymous security researcher going by the name Chaotic Eclipse (aka Nightmare-Eclipse) has released a proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit for yet another Microsoft Defender zero-day named RoguePlanet . "The exploit is a race condition, so it's a hit or miss," the researcher, who published the exploit under a new GitHub account "MSNightmare" said . "I have managed to get a 100% success rate on some machines while it struggled to work on others." Should the exploit succeed, the result is a shell with SYSTEM-level privileges, granting the attacker the ability to run arbitrary code or perform unauthorized actions. The researcher said the exploit has been tested on Windows 11 and 10 machines with the June 2026 Patch Tuesday updates installed, meaning the exploit works on the up-to-date versions of the desktop operating system. That said, the exploit does not work on Windows Server instances in its current form since "standard users cannot mou...

One-Character Linux Kernel Flaw Enables Local Root Access, Exploits Now Public

Jun 08, 2026 Linux / Vulnerability
Security researchers have published a detailed, working exploit for a Linux kernel use-after-free that lets an unprivileged local user escalate to root and break out of a container. The flaw, CVE-2026-23111, sits in the kernel's nf_tables packet-filtering code and was patched upstream on February 5, 2026. Exodus Intelligence released its full technical walkthrough on June 8, and it is not even the first public exploit: FuzzingLabs published an independent reproduction back in April. The flaw came down to a single stray character, an inverted check in nf_tables, and the upstream fix removed it in one line. Ubuntu rates the flaw CVSS 7.8 (high). If your distribution's kernel package does not yet include the fix, update and reboot. The reachable setup is common: nf_tables plus unprivileged user namespaces, a Linux feature that lets an ordinary account act as root inside a private sandbox and reach kernel code it otherwise could not. Both ship by default on most desktop...
