Hackers Exploited Krpano Framework Flaw to Inject Spam Ads on 350+ Websites

Hackers Exploited Krpano Framework Flaw to Inject Spam Ads on 350+ Websites

Feb 26, 2025 Website Security / Vulnerability
A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in a virtual tour framework has been weaponized by malicious actors to inject malicious scripts across hundreds of websites with the goal of manipulating search results and fueling a spam ads campaign at scale. Security researcher Oleg Zaytsev, in a report shared with The Hacker News, said the campaign – dubbed 360XSS – affected over 350 websites, including government portals, U.S. state government sites, American universities, major hotel chains, news outlets, car dealerships, and several Fortune 500 companies. "This wasn't just a spam operation," the researcher said . "It was an industrial-scale abuse of trusted domains." All these websites have one thing in common: A popular framework called Krpano that's used to embed 360° images and videos to facilitate interactive virtual tours and VR experiences.  Zaytsev said he stumbled upon the campaign after coming across a pornography-related ad listed on Google ...

WordPress LiteSpeed Cache Plugin Security Flaw Exposes Sites to XSS Attacks

Oct 04, 2024 Website Security / Vulnerability
A new high-severity security flaw has been disclosed in the LiteSpeed Cache plugin for WordPress that could enable malicious actors to execute arbitrary JavaScript code under certain conditions. The flaw, tracked as CVE-2024-47374 (CVSS score: 7.2), has been described as a stored cross-site scripting ( XSS ) vulnerability impacting all versions of the plugin up to and including 6.5.0.2. It was addressed in version 6.5.1 on September 25, 2024, following responsible disclosure by Patchstack Alliance researcher TaiYou. "It could allow any unauthenticated user from stealing sensitive information to, in this case, privilege escalation on the WordPress site by performing a single HTTP request," Patchstack said in a report.  The flaw stems from the manner in which the plugin the "X-LSCACHE-VARY-VALUE" HTTP header value is parsed without adequate sanitization and output escaping, thereby allowing for injection of arbitrary web scripts. That said, it's worth poi...

Severe Vulnerabilities Reported in Microsoft Azure Bastion and Container Registry

Jun 14, 2023 Cloud Security / Vulnerability
Two "dangerous" security vulnerabilities have been disclosed in Microsoft Azure Bastion and Azure Container Registry that could have been exploited to carry out cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks. "The vulnerabilities allowed unauthorized access to the victim's session within the compromised Azure service iframe, which can lead to severe consequences, including unauthorized data access, unauthorized modifications, and disruption of the Azure services iframes," Orca security researcher Lidor Ben Shitrit  said  in a report shared with The Hacker News. XSS attacks  take place when threat actors inject arbitrary code into an otherwise trusted website, which then gets executed every time when unsuspecting users visit the site. The two flaws identified by Orca leverage a weakness in the postMessage iframe, which enables cross-origin communication between Window objects. This meant that the shortcoming could be abused to embed endpoints within remote servers usin...
