Microsoft Copilot Personal Flaws Could Let One Click Exfiltrate Data From Connected Apps

Microsoft Copilot Personal Flaws Could Let One Click Exfiltrate Data From Connected Apps

Aug 18, 2026 AI Security / Vulnerability
Varonis Threat Labs has disclosed three vulnerabilities in Microsoft Copilot Personal that it said could allow a single click on a crafted link to silently pull data from connected apps and other information available to the victim's Copilot session. The flaws, which the researchers collectively named CoSnitch , turn in part on an undocumented URL parameter that the assistant itself surfaced during testing. The company said it reported the issue to Microsoft in December 2025 and that patches shipped on August 18, 2026. CoSnitch is tracked as  CVE-2026-24301  in Microsoft's Security Update Guide. The research names Copilot Personal, the consumer assistant hosted at copilot.microsoft.com, and does not state that the same behavior affected Microsoft 365 Copilot. The researchers said they found no evidence that CoSnitch was exploited in the wild. They reached the parameter by repeatedly asking Copilot why a prompt could not be made to run without user interaction, an ap...

One Attacker Has Scraped Both Salesforce and ServiceNow Portals Since 2025

Aug 18, 2026 SaaS Security / Cloud Security
A single piece of infrastructure has been pulling records out of Salesforce and ServiceNow customer portals across multiple industries for more than a year, according to research published this week by agent security platform Reco. The activity, which Reco has named the City Forum campaign after a domain tied to the attacker's IP address, traces back to one server: 158.220.87.79, hosted on a commodity VPS through the German provider Contabo. Every request from that server carries the same fingerprint, the default user agent of Go's net/http library, which tells researchers the tool behind it is a compiled, purpose built program rather than anything run from a browser. Passive DNS shows the same domain pointed at that IP as far back as March 2025, and the server has not moved since. Targets identified so far span telecoms, banks and other financial services firms, enterprise software vendors including security and data privacy companies, and public sector portals, though Reco...

Aug 18, 2026 Vulnerability / Cybercrime
SafePal has disclosed that an authorization flaw in an order-tracking plug-in exposed the names, email addresses, shipping addresses, phone numbers, and purchase details of approximately 39,798 customers. The hardware wallet maker said all affected customers were notified individually by email on August 16 from security@safepal.com, with the subject line "[Important] Your SafePal Order Information Has Been Affected." The exposed records did not include wallet credentials or financial information, according to SafePal, which said it has found no evidence that the incident itself compromised access to SafePal wallets or funds. "This incident did not involve your seed phrase, private keys, wallet password, or other wallet credentials, bank account information, payment card numbers, or government-issued identification numbers," SafePal said . Under certain conditions, the flaw allowed unauthorized access to another customer's order information, the company ...

Forminator WordPress Flaw Can Enable Unauthenticated RCE via Malicious PHP Uploads

Aug 17, 2026 Vulnerability / Website Security
A critical security flaw has been disclosed in Forminator Forms, a WordPress plugin with more than 600,000 active installations, that could be exploited to achieve arbitrary code execution on susceptible sites. The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2026-15748 , is rated 9.8 out of 10.0 on the CVSS scoring system. It was discovered and reported by a security researcher who goes by the online alias "daroo." "This vulnerability makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to upload arbitrary files, including executable PHP files, to a vulnerable site, which can lead to remote code execution and complete site compromise," Wordfence said in a report published today. That said, a key prerequisite for successful exploitation is that the sites must have a form containing both a File Upload field and a Select field. The vulnerability impacts all versions of the plugin before and including 1.56.1. It has been addressed in version 1.56.2 released on July 31, 2026. Pe...

Hackers Spend Nearly $7 Million on Expired Domains to Redirect Traffic to Scams and Malware

Aug 14, 2026 Malware / Cybercrime
Threat actors are acquiring expired domains to inherit website traffic and reputation to redirect victims to scams and malware on a large scale. DNS threat intelligence firm Infoblox has given the name dropcatch domains to those that get a second chance, where an expired domain becomes available for registration and is then snapped up by another party. During the first half of 2026, 50,400 dropcatch domains were re-registered each day in the generic top-level domains (gTLDs) like ".com" alone, a figure that jumps to around 65,000 when country code top-level domains (ccTLDs) are taken into consideration. These account for nearly 20% of all daily gTLD and ccTLD registrations, meaning one out of five newly registered domains is a dropcatch domain. "These domains can be particularly interesting, even dangerous, because they inherit reputation and sometimes connections from their previous life," Infoblox said in an exhaustive three-part report shared with The Ha...
Chrome DevTools Technique Enables Authenticated Session Hijacking in Live Windows Browsers

Chrome DevTools Technique Enables Authenticated Session Hijacking in Live Windows Browsers

Aug 14, 2026 Browser Security / Endpoint Security
Cybersecurity researchers have detailed a post-exploitation technique that enables the  Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP)  inside a running Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge process on Windows, allowing an operator to access cookies, saved data, and authenticated browser sessions. The technique assumes that an operator already has code execution on the Windows host and does not involve exploiting a Chrome or Edge security vulnerability. The requirement for prior code execution and sufficient access to manipulate the target process places the technique in a narrower post-compromise scenario than a remotely exploitable browser flaw. SpecterOps said defenders can look for signs of process injection targeting chrome.exe and msedge.exe using Sysmon Event IDs 8 and 10. "Since App-Bound Encryption was enabled, we've seen an increase in attackers using Chrome Remote Debugging to extract cookies," Google said in a  March 2025 post . Google  changed C...

CTM360 Uncovers Over 3,000 Recruitment Phishing URLs Using Browser-in-the-Browser (BitB) Credential Traps

Aug 14, 2026 United States
Cybersecurity researchers have uncovered a large-scale, global recruitment-themed phishing campaign that uses fake interview scheduling pages and Browser-in-the-Browser (BitB) windows to steal Google and Facebook credentials and, in more advanced cases, relay multi-factor authentication (MFA) prompts in real time. CTM360, which detailed the activity in a new report titled RecruitTrap , said it identified more than 3,000+ phishing URLs over two months. The campaign impersonated real recruiters and recruitment processes associated with more than 50 organizations across 14 sectors . Marketing professionals accounted for the majority of observed targets. The focus on marketing roles appears deliberate. Compromised marketing accounts can provide access to advertising platforms, corporate social media profiles, customer data, email, and other business-critical services. Attackers Exploit SharePoint Authentication Bypass After Public PoC Release

Aug 13, 2026 Vulnerability / Enterprise Security
Threat actors have begun to exploit a newly disclosed Microsoft SharePoint vulnerability following the release of a proof-of-concept (PoC) code. The vulnerability in question is CVE-2026-55040 (CVSS score: 9.1), which refers to a critical security feature bypass that stems from weak authentication. It was patched by Microsoft as part of its July 2026 Patch Tuesday updates. "The authentication feature could be bypassed as this vulnerability allows impersonation," Microsoft said in an advisory for the flaw last month. "Exploiting this vulnerability could allow an attacker to disclose files and modify data, but the attacker cannot impact the availability of the system." According to Defused Cyber , threat actors are leveraging a PoC exploit released by Rapid7 earlier this week, once again indicating fresh flaws are being rapidly abused in real-world attacks. It's worth mentioning that CVE-2026-55040 is the fifth SharePoint vulnerability to be exploited t...

737 Chrome VPN Extensions Caught Routing Traffic Through Proxies. Check If You Have One

Aug 12, 2026 Browser Security / Privacy
A massive set of 737 free VPN and proxy extensions have been found to mainly target Russian-speaking users seeking access to blocked services with an aim to intercept browser traffic and route them through a proxy infrastructure. The extensions, published across at least 40 Chrome Web Store developer accounts, racked up 75,486 installs. Of those identified, 274 have been found to impersonate 66 established VPN and privacy brands, including Proton VPN, NordVPN, Surfshark, AdGuard VPN, Browsec, ExpressVPN, CyberGhost, Windscribe, TunnelBear, Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1, and Google's Outline, per Socket. The censorship circumvention extensions "route the user's entire browser session through SOCKS5 proxies operated by a single provider," security researcher Kush Pandya said . "520 of the 522 in the bulk corpus route browser traffic through the same SOCKS5 infrastructure." The vast majority of the extensions have been found to route users' entire browser...

Atlassian Rovo Can Be Tricked Into Sending Jira and Confluence Data to Attackers

Atlassian Rovo Can Be Tricked Into Sending Jira and Confluence Data to Attackers

Aug 08, 2026 AI Security / Enterprise Security
Attacker-controlled instructions can make Atlassian's Rovo assistant collect Jira or Confluence data that a signed-in user can access, then send it to an outside server. Two security firms found that behavior independently, by different routes. Only one of those routes is confirmed closed. PromptArmor , an AI security firm, hid the instructions in content Rovo reads. It said an uploaded file was enough to make the assistant gather internal data and send it out through a URL request, with no separate approval step. The firm published on August 5, 2026 and said the chain still worked with Rovo's web-search option switched off. That bypass is single-sourced, and the report establishes the finding's status only on that date; a later remediation is not confirmed here. Varonis Threat Labs put the instructions in a link instead. It found that the rovoChatPrompt URL parameter would preload attacker instructions into Rovo Chat, so one click from an authenticated user was enou...
New CSS Attacks Can Break Webmail Defenses to Steal Passwords and Tokens

New CSS Attacks Can Break Webmail Defenses to Steal Passwords and Tokens

Aug 08, 2026 Email Security / Vulnerability
New research shows content inside an email can escape its message boundary and interfere with the webmail interface. Across attack chains spanning Outlook, Gmail, Fastmail, Proton Mail, Yahoo Mail, and AOL Mail, the techniques can capture passwords, take over third-party accounts, leak tokens, hijack trusted UI actions, and manipulate AI tools that read email. PortSwigger researcher Gareth Heyes presented the work at Black Hat USA 2026. One Outlook/Firefox chain spoofs a Microsoft sign-in screen and captures the password a recipient types. A Yahoo/AOL paste race can expose a Medium email-login token and let an attacker sign in as the victim. A Gmail/Cowork chain can exfiltrate a Slack token after prompt injection and user interaction. The paper presents proof-of-concept research and does not report malicious exploitation. Public PoCs remain available as of August 8. The researcher said Fastmail fixed two CSS mutation bugs and a Proton Mail proxy bypass stopped working when he re...

Metabase Zero-Day Exploited in Wild Allows Admin Access Without Authentication

Aug 08, 2026 Zero-Day / Vulnerability
Metabase has warned that a maximum-severity security flaw impacting its business intelligence and data visualization software package has been exploited in the wild as a zero-day. The vulnerability (CVSS score: 10.0), which does not carry a CVE identifier, allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to inject arbitrary SQL into the Metabase application database, enabling them to gain administrator access to the instance. Armed with the elevated access, the attacker can change the application configuration, steal stored credentials for the connected databases, read any data accessible through those connections, and export data. "We recently identified that Metabase Cloud was attacked by someone utilizing an unknown ('0-day') security vulnerability in versions 1.58 and above," Metabase said in an advisory. Metabase Cloud instances have already been updated to the latest version. Users running self-hosted versions are advised to apply security patches released b...
ClickFix Attacks Deliver macOS Stealer That Can Drain Crypto Wallets

ClickFix Attacks Deliver macOS Stealer That Can Drain Crypto Wallets

Aug 07, 2026 Malware / Social Engineering
ClickFix-style attacks are being used to deliver a Go-based malware capable of stealing cryptocurrency assets, as well as browser-stored passwords, Apple iCloud Keychain data, and cached credentials. The macOS-focused infection chain is designed to deliver a shell script that profiles the host and then fetches a macOS malware payload that's compatible with the computer's CPU architecture. "While the malware payload is capable of stealing passwords, its most interesting function is its capability to slowly deplete cryptocurrency accounts, siphoning their contents into accounts under the threat actor's control," Huntress security researcher Andrew Brandt said . The attack chain begins with pasting a ClickFix command into the Terminal app, triggering the execution of a Bash profiler/loader that collects extensive system details and then retrieves a Mach-O payload that matches the victim's processor architecture. The payload is a Go-based stealer that can ...
New WordPress Pre-Auth XSS Could Lead to PHP Code Execution - Patch ASAP

New WordPress Pre-Auth XSS Could Lead to PHP Code Execution - Patch ASAP

Aug 07, 2026 Web Security / Vulnerability
WordPress has fixed a pre-authentication reflected cross-site scripting (XSS) flaw in its login screen that affects every version of the content management system. pwn.ai demonstrated how the flaw can be chained into PHP code execution on the server when a logged-in administrator interacts with an attacker-controlled page. Tracked as  CVE-2026-64638  (CVSS score: 8.9), the high-severity vulnerability requires no attacker privileges. According to pwn.ai , which discovered the flaw and shared technical details with The Hacker News, the login-page XSS requires no authentication. Once a crafted username reaches the failed-login error page, the resulting JavaScript executes in the visitor's browser with no further interaction required on that page. The code-execution path requires a victim already logged in as an Administrator and explicit interaction with an attacker-controlled page. In pwn.ai's demonstration, that interaction is one ordinary click. The researchers told The...

AI-Assisted HTTP Terminator Finds Novel HTTP Desync Techniques and Apache Zero-Day

Aug 07, 2026 Web Security / Vulnerability
PortSwigger says HTTP Terminator, an artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted research system built by James Kettle , generated and proved new HTTP desynchronization techniques after exploring 30,000 candidate desync vectors. PortSwigger said a separate human-guided discovery cascade also exposed a zero-day in Apache Traffic Server. Kettle said HTTP Terminator tested 30,000 websites where scanning was authorized through bug bounty or vulnerability disclosure programs and found roughly 700 vulnerable targets before deeper validation and RQP research. Kettle said those findings involved banks, government infrastructure, security products, and an airport. The research produced new desync triggers, a dual-matching Content-Length pattern, and a "dangling-byte" technique designed to make response queue poisoning (RQP) more reliable. RQP can potentially make a front end lose track of which back-end response belongs to which user, potentially exposing another user's resp...
