16 Typosquatted RubyGems Packages Steal Browser Credentials and Crypto Wallets

Aug 18, 2026 Cryptocurrency / Open Source
Cybersecurity researchers have flagged a new typosquatting campaign targeting RubyGems users with a Windows-based information stealer. OpenSourceMalware, which discovered the activity on August 15, 2026, is tracking the threat under the moniker StubMaker . The complete list of packages published as part of the campaign is below - ubnuler ubnlder ri18nr reaker rakier orakw joxn ise18n ioe18n ie18u iai8n i1l8n i18om activesupmport brumdler brundlef "This new malware harvests browser credentials, cryptocurrency wallets, seed phrases, and Telegram data," security researcher Paul McCarty (aka 6mile) said. "All of the malicious RubyGems packages appear to be typosquats of popular Ruby dependencies, but rather than the clever SEO-fueled typosquats we've seen from other threat actors (e.g., events-channel imitating the popular Node.js events module), they're all clumsy typos." The 16 gems have been published...
Trojanized Newtonsoft.Json Fork Hides Game-Rigging Code in a Working Library

Trojanized Newtonsoft.Json Fork Hides Game-Rigging Code in a Working Library

Jul 22, 2026 Supply Chain Attack / Malware
Cybersecurity researchers have discovered a NuGet typosquat that's unlike the typical information-stealing malware distributed via package registries: usual info-stealers: it's designed to rig live game results on Digitain. The package, named " Newtonsoftt.Json.Net ," masquerades as the Newtonsoft.Json library and is a trojanized fork. Seven versions of the package have been published to the NuGet repository: 11.0.4, 11.0.5, 11.0.7, 11.0.8, 11.0.9, 11.0.10, and 11.0.11. The package has been downloaded about 1,200 times to date. The package has been unlisted by its owner MagicalPuff96, meaning it will not be surfaced via a search on NuGet. However, the artifacts are still available for download from the registry. "The trojan rigs Digitain, an online betting platform, and in later generations, exfiltrates rigged round results to an attacker-controlled server, utilizing the header X-Seq-ApiKey: theperfectheist2025," according to JFrog . What's not...

Typosquatting Is No Longer a User Problem. It's a Supply Chain Problem

May 20, 2026 Supply Chain Attack / Browser Security
AI-generated lookalike domains are now embedded inside the third-party scripts running on your web properties. Here's why your current stack can't see them, and what detection actually requires. Download the CISO Expert Guide to Typosquatting in the AI Era → TL;DR  Typosquatting is no longer a user problem. Attackers now embed lookalike domains inside legitimate third-party scripts. No mistyped URL required, no server breach needed. AI broke the economics of defense. LLMs generate thousands of convincing domain variants in minutes; full campaign deployment takes under ten. Malicious package uploads jumped 156% last year. Manual vetting is dead. Your security stack can't see this. Firewalls, WAFs, EDR, and CSP have no visibility into what approved scripts do once they execute in the browser. The Trust Wallet attack proved it. $8.5M stolen in 48 hours through a trojanized Chrome extension. No alert fired, not because something failed, but because nothing...
