Keystone to Destroy 18,835 Hardware Wallets After Hackers Steal Device Verification Key

Keystone to Destroy 18,835 Hardware Wallets After Hackers Steal Device Verification Key

10월 27, 2026 Cryptocurrency / Data Breach
An attacker who gained access to Keystone's website obtained the key that its hardware wallets use to prove they are genuine, the company said in a  statement  on October 26. Someone with that key could build counterfeit devices that pass the online check owners use to verify a Keystone. A buyer who trusted a counterfeit could have their crypto stolen, but the incident did not involve owners' recovery phrases or wallet private keys. Keystone will destroy 18,835 unsold devices that carry the key, and all new devices will get a new one. Keystone found the unauthorized access on October 20, and its advice to owners depends on when a device arrived. For a device received after that date with the old key, the company said: "Even if such a device passes authentication, we cannot completely rule out the possibility that it is counterfeit." Owners of such a device should contact Keystone support and use it only after the company confirms it is genuine. A device del...
PHP Issues Second Windows Security Update in Five Days to Fix Brotli Code Execution Flaw

PHP Issues Second Windows Security Update in Five Days to Fix Brotli Code Execution Flaw

10월 26, 2026 Vulnerability / Web Security
PHP has rebuilt its official Windows packages for PHP 8.2 through 8.5 to fix CVE-2026-111497 , a flaw in the Brotli compression library that the packages include. The flaw can let an attacker corrupt memory and potentially run code. PHP says the flaw can be reached through the cURL extension when the extension decompresses HTTP responses automatically. cURL leaves that off by default, but applications and HTTP client libraries can turn it on. The rebuilt packages, numbered 8.5.12-1 , 8.4.27-1 , 8.3.36-1 and 8.2.35-1 , come five days after the October 21 releases that fixed the two PHP2Shell remote code execution flaws . They use the same PHP source, so those fixes stay in place, and they now include Brotli 1.2.1 , the fixed version. PHP publishes a software bill of materials , a list of the components inside, with each package. For last week's x64 Non Thread Safe builds of all four versions, those lists show Brotli 1.2.0, one of the affected versions. PHP advises Windows...
Gheist Uses Stolen GitHub Tokens to Steal Private Repository Secrets via Actions Logs

Gheist Uses Stolen GitHub Tokens to Steal Private Repository Secrets via Actions Logs

10월 26, 2026 Cyber Attack / Cloud Security
An automated campaign is using stolen GitHub tokens to plant workflows that print a repository's secrets into its GitHub Actions logs, which the attackers then download before deleting the runs. The attacks have succeeded in private repositories and GitHub Enterprise environments, according to an analysis by cloud security company Wiz. A  GitHub safeguard  that pauses suspicious workflow runs stopped every public-repository run Wiz checked, but it does not cover private repositories or GitHub Enterprise Server. Each workflow sits on a new branch named ci-sync- followed by six random characters. Deleting a branch, or the run it started, does not undo the exposure. Every secret the repository could read should be rotated, and the token that pushed the branch revoked. Wiz has tracked the campaign since September 15 and calls it Gheist , after the user agent gheist that the attackers' tool sends with GitHub API requests. Wiz has recovered mor...

Malicious File in Downloads Folder Tries to Trick AI Coding Agent Into Installing Malware

Malicious File in Downloads Folder Tries to Trick AI Coding Agent Into Installing Malware

10월 26, 2026 Artificial Intelligence / Endpoint Security
A malicious instruction file sitting in a developer's Downloads folder tried to make their AI coding agent install a known-malicious npm package, security firm Forever Security said in a report published last week. The company caught the attempt on a real customer's machine and stopped the agent before any code ran. It could not determine how the file got into the folder. The file was  AGENTS.md, a plain-text instructions file that a coding agent, such as OpenAI's Codex, reads when it starts in a folder and follows as directions. It was dressed up as ordinary engineering notes. One section told the agent to add a server to its own configuration and install a package called function-color from npm. That package is part of a malware campaign that other researchers have  documented separately : function-color pulls in a downloader called function-flag, which fetches and runs a Windows payload. Researchers at CloudSEK and Checkmarx, who ...
OpenAI AI Agents Demonstrate VM Escapes and Secret Cross-Sandbox Communication

OpenAI AI Agents Demonstrate VM Escapes and Secret Cross-Sandbox Communication

10월 25, 2026 Artificial Intelligence / Cybersecurity
OpenAI has announced plans to conduct frontier model training with no live internet access, as it resumes reinforcement learning (RL) training and internal inference of its most advanced AI models. "Based on the current state of alignment research, monitoring systems, and the security of internet infrastructure, we believe the responsible approach is to conduct frontier model training with no internet access," the artificial intelligence (AI) company said . "We've implemented this policy and will maintain it until advances in these safeguards justify broader internet access." OpenAI said models' growing capabilities can have the side effect of them getting much better at devising ways around environmental restrictions to escape containment and perform unintended actions. This can involve the model exploiting a software flaw or misconfiguration to reach the live internet, or finding unauthorized ways to communicate with agents in other sandboxes. Late ...
Leaked LiteLLM Master Key Let Attackers Steal GitHub Tokens and Hijack Release Pipeline

Leaked LiteLLM Master Key Let Attackers Steal GitHub Tokens and Hijack Release Pipeline

10월 24, 2026 Artificial Intelligence / Data Breach
LiteLLM on Friday revealed that an Agent Platform master key accidentally published to a public GitHub repository in late May 2026 ultimately allowed the threat actor to push a malicious version of the popular Python package. "On May 27, 2026, a configuration file was committed to the public LiteLLM-Labs/lite-harness repository which inadvertently contained the master key to a deployment of the LiteLLM Agent Platform, an open source tool we use for orchestrating agents," LiteLLM's Oliver Jensen and Mateo Wang said . "The error was quickly identified, the commit force-pushed over, and we identified the exposed keys as requiring revocation. However, key revocation did not occur for the master key." LiteLLM said the unknown attacker (operating from "69.48.229[.]143") used this unrevoked key on October 10, 2026, to gain access to the Agent Platform and extracted a GitHub CLI OAuth token the service was configured with to allow self-hosted cloud a...

LiteLLM Suspects GitHub Token Leak in AI Gateway Logs Behind Malicious Package Release

10월 22, 2026 Cloud Security / Data Breach
LiteLLM on Wednesday disclosed that threat actors compromised "multiple independent security controls" to push a malicious version of the Python package containing a credential stealer and a backdoor. On October 21, 2026, LiteLLM's release pipeline was compromised to push 1.107.0 to the Docker Hub registry and the Python Package Index (PyPI) repository. The incident took place around 4:00 a.m. PST. The following compromised versions were published - LiteLLM v1.107.0 (PyPI) v1.107.0, latest, main-latest, and main-stable (Docker) v1.107.0, latest, main-latest, and main-stable (GHCR) Users who downloaded an unpinned version of LiteLLM between 11:39 a.m. and 1:23 p.m. UTC via pip or used the Docker image v1.107.0, latest, main-latest, or main-stable between 11:46 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. UTC are impacted. The poisoned version incorporated code to harvest credentials and keys, and run arbitrary code from a remote server every hour, turning it into a remote acce...
Node.js Brotli Decoder Bug Could Allow Remote Code Execution in All Supported Versions

Node.js Brotli Decoder Bug Could Allow Remote Code Execution in All Supported Versions

10월 22, 2026 Vulnerability / Web Security
Node.js released  security updates  on October 21 for its three supported release lines, 22.x, 24.x and 26.x, fixing 10 flaws. The most serious is a bug in the Brotli decompression code that Node.js bundles, which the project says can allow remote code execution, meaning an attacker could run code of their choosing on the affected system. Each supported line has one fixed version:  22.23.4  and  24.22.1  on the long-term support lines, and  26.12.1  on the current line. Node.js 20.x and earlier have  reached end of life  and will not receive the fix, so they should be moved to a supported line. The Brotli flaw is in code Node.js bundles, not in a user's own program. Node.js runs that code whenever it decompresses Brotli data, either directly through the  node:zlib  module or automatically when code calls fetch() on a response sent with Brotli compression. An application is exposed where it decompresses Brotli data an att...
China-Linked Hackers Use ARTEX AI Agents in ConnectWise Supply Chain Attack

China-Linked Hackers Use ARTEX AI Agents in ConnectWise Supply Chain Attack

10월 22, 2026 Supply Chain Attack / Cloud Security
Microsoft on Wednesday disclosed that a China state-aligned actor dubbed Storm-0940 was behind the recent supply chain compromise of the ConnectWise Cloud Backup application. During the incident, Storm-0940 used ARTEX , a Go-based agentic AI penetration testing framework that was made closed-source in the wake of its abuse in cyber attacks targeting South Korean financial institutions, to speed up scanning and reconnaissance, password spraying, and OAuth application abuse at downstream victims. The tech giant said the threat actor used the AI tool at "machine speed" to automate attacks targeting hundreds of organizations across the world spanning a broad range of sectors since September 2026. Targets include aerospace and defense, automotive, chemicals, energy, financial services, government, legal, manufacturing, media, military, semiconductor, software, technology, and think tanks and non-profits. "Storm-0940's use of ARTEX accelerated the speed of comprom...

LiteLLM Compromised in Supply Chain Attack Delivering Credential Stealer and Backdoor

10월 21, 2026 Malware / Artificial Intelligence
The popular LiteLLM Python package has been compromised as part of a software supply chain attack that delivered a credential stealer and a backdoor, according to reports from SafeDep , Socket , StepSecurity , and Upwind . The compromise affects LiteLLM 1.107.0, distributed through PyPI wheels and Docker images. The Python package has since been quarantined on Python Package Index (PyPI), and the malicious Docker images have been removed. Oliver Jensen, director of security at LiteLLM, said an investigation into the incident is ongoing, and that it's still working to trace the original attack vector by which the threat actor published the malicious release. "We have identified that the malicious actions were taken through three engineers' GitHub accounts, appearing to be by way of stolen GitHub CLI OAuth tokens," Jensen said . "The threat actor used one user's account to trigger the project-releaser run, and another user's account to approve it. A...

Attackers Abuse UpdraftCentral Keys to Plant Backdoors on WordPress Sites

10월 21, 2026 Cyber Attack / Web Security
Unknown threat actors breached TeamUpdraft's website and potentially gained unauthorized access to customers' connection keys for UpdraftCentral, UpdraftVault, and UpdraftClone, using them to backdoor WordPress sites. TeamUpdraft is the developer behind UpdraftPlus, a popular WordPress backup plugin with over four million active installations. The vendor also offers UpdraftCentral, a remote management service that's used for managing multiple sites remotely. A client component of UpdraftCentral is shipped within every copy of UpdraftPlus.  "Over the weekend of 17-18 October we identified unauthorized access to the teamupdraft.com website," TeamUpdraft said in a statement. "Our team responded straight away and worked through the night to contain it – we closed the access route, signed out every account and replaced the keys and credentials that could have been affected." As a result of the incident, threat actors are believed to have accessed its ...

U.S. Orders DeepSeek Removed From Federal Civilian Systems, Bans New Purchases

10월 21, 2026 Artificial Intelligence / National Security
U.S. federal civilian agencies must remove DeepSeek products from their information technology systems, along with any third-party products or services "developed using DeepSeek implementations," under a Department of Homeland Security order. They may also no longer buy information technology products or services from the Chinese AI developer or its affiliates Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin issued the order, dated July 24, 2026, under the  Federal Acquisition Supply Chain Security Act of 2018 , and the department published it in the  Federal Register  on October 20. The notice does not define " DeepSeek implementations. " The order names Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence Co., Ltd., the developer of the R1 and V3 models, and covers its affiliates as defined in federal acquisition rules. The company's  privacy policy  says it collects, processes and stores users' personal data in the People's Republic of China. Under the 2018...
Hackers Hijack Five OVHcloud CLI Releases to Distribute Secret-Stealing Malware

Hackers Hijack Five OVHcloud CLI Releases to Distribute Secret-Stealing Malware

10월 20, 2026 Supply Chain Attack / Cyber Attack
An attacker used a contributor's GitHub account to replace the download archives on five existing releases of OVHcloud's command-line tool on Monday, October 19. The account had been hijacked, and the new files were a build designed to steal secrets stored on the disk of any machine that runs it, the cloud provider says. They were live on GitHub for up to 94 minutes, from 12:47 to 14:21 UTC, and reached only people who installed or updated the OVHcloud CLI during that window, via a path that checks for no hash, on macOS, Linux x86_64 or arm64, or Windows x86_64. OVHcloud deleted the swapped archives and published a clean  v0.16.0  that evening as an immutable release, whose files GitHub will not let anyone change. The source code, the release tag, and the company's build pipeline were not touched: the bad build was a plain go build of a later commit, uploaded straight onto releases published between April and September. Who Was Exposed On v0.15.0, the attac...

Popular WordPress SEO Plugin Rank Math PRO Hijacked to Deliver Self-Restoring Backdoor

10월 19, 2026 Web Security / Vulnerability
Copies of Rank Math PRO, the paid version of the Rank Math SEO plugin for WordPress, that were downloaded from rankmath.com or delivered as updates between 20:02 UTC on October 15 and 07:12 UTC on October 16 contained malware, Rank Math said in a  security notice  published on October 16. Any site that installed and activated one of those copies should be treated as compromised, and the malware can recreate its hidden backdoor whenever someone visits the site. Rank Math has removed the affected files and released a clean version, 3.0.124. Installing it replaces the plugin but does not remove files, administrator accounts, or scheduled tasks the malware may already have placed elsewhere on the server, Wordfence said in an  advisory  on October 17. Who Is Affected The version number does not show whether a copy is affected. Rank Math's  changelog  dates 3.0.123 to October 7, more than a week before the window opened, and the notice limits the inciden...
GhostAction Attackers Plant Credential Stealer Disguised as Font in 94 GitHub Repositories

GhostAction Attackers Plant Credential Stealer Disguised as Font in 94 GitHub Repositories

10월 19, 2026 Developer Security / Supply Chain
The threat actor behind the GhostAction supply chain attack has expanded beyond injecting malicious GitHub Actions workflows into compromised projects to phish open-source developers and deliver a stealer malware disguised within a fake font file. The latest evolution, detailed by OpenSourceMalware, signals that the attackers are actively refining their modus operandi in response to steps taken by GitHub to prevent the workflow from running. According to the threat intelligence platform, the threat actor registered the domain " my-github[.]com " and pointed it at " 193.32.204[.]199 ," the same IP address that's used as an exfiltration endpoint for data harvested from running the malicious workflow. The domain was registered on October 9, 2026, 17 days after " my-gitlab[.]com " was registered. There is no evidence at this stage to suggest that the two code-hosting-themed domains are operated by the same threat actor. "It follows the sam...
Fake Web3 Accelerator Uses npm Packages to Spread Malware and Hijack AI Agent Traffic

Fake Web3 Accelerator Uses npm Packages to Spread Malware and Hijack AI Agent Traffic

10월 19, 2026 Malware / Artificial Intelligence
A fake Web3 accelerator has been observed pushing information stealers and backdoors to Windows and macOS systems using malicious npm packages under the pretext of offering free artificial intelligence (AI) credits for Anthropic Claude and Google Gemini, coding tools, and security audits. "The tools delivered information-stealing malware and backdoors for macOS and Windows machines," Elastic Security Labs researchers Jia Yu Chan and Daniel Stepanic said . "The operation also repackaged a legitimate coding agent to send model requests through attacker-controlled services, while its audit tools generated fabricated security findings." The scheme poses as a Web3 venture capital accelerator named Apex Accelerator to target cryptocurrency startups and founders. It's being tracked under the moniker REF8801 . The names of the npm packages, each of which targets both Windows and macOS machines, are listed below - @apexacc/cli (Apex Copilot CLI — AI advisor fo...
MALFEX npm Package 'imgdecode' Hides Shellcode Loader in Windows Native Addon

MALFEX npm Package 'imgdecode' Hides Shellcode Loader in Windows Native Addon

10월 17, 2026 Malware / Windows Security
Cybersecurity researchers have discovered a malicious npm package that's part of a recently disclosed software supply chain attack campaign dubbed MALFEX . The package, named " imgdecode ," was uploaded to the package registry on September 30, 2026, by a user named "malfexteste8." It has been downloaded 979 times as of writing and is still available on npm as of writing. The latest version of the package is 1.0.3. "The npm package imgdecode hides a malicious loader in a compiled Node.js addon," SafeDep said . "Its nine-line JavaScript file loads a Windows dynamic-link library (DLL). When a Node.js program calls require('imgdecode') from a Windows console, the DLL attempts to download encrypted shellcode from GitHub. It decrypts the response and injects the result into a new dllhost.exe process." First documented by both Checkmarx and CloudSEK, MALFEX is the name assigned to a long-running campaign in which an unknown threat...
Attackers Tampered with AOMEI Backupper's Update Servers for Minutes to Deliver a Backdoor

Attackers Tampered with AOMEI Backupper's Update Servers for Minutes to Deliver a Backdoor

10월 16, 2026 Supply Chain Attack / Endpoint Security
Attackers repeatedly changed the files that AOMEI Backupper fetches from the vendor's own update servers, in windows of five to ten minutes at a time between May and July 2026, so that any copy of the Windows backup program that checked for an update during one of those windows would download and run a backdoor. Google Threat Intelligence Group, Mandiant , and  ManageEngine's Threat Analysis Lab , which disclosed the campaign this week, say AOMEI has reported fixing its servers, but that fix does not remove the backdoor from machines that were already hit. AOMEI Backupper is Windows backup and disk-cloning software made by AOMEI Technology, a vendor registered in Hong Kong. Like the company's remote-desktop tool AnyViewer, it runs background services that regularly check AOMEI's servers over HTTPS for software updates and promotional pop-ups. Two files drive that check. One, down_html.ini, names the update package to download and the checksum the program uses to ...
GhostAction Compromises About 1,900 GitHub Accounts, Targets Over 30,000 Repositories

GhostAction Compromises About 1,900 GitHub Accounts, Targets Over 30,000 Repositories

10월 15, 2026 Supply Chain Attack / Cloud Security
The credential-theft campaign known as GhostAction has ramped up, targeting more than 30,000 repositories across 3,000 users and organizations. The spike, according to GitGuardian, was observed on October 8 and 9, 2026. "This resulted from compromising the GitHub accounts of about 1,900 users. It attempted to extract 3,174 secrets from public repositories' CI," security researchers Gaetan Ferry and Guillaume Valadon said . GhostAction is the moniker for a supply chain attack campaign targeting developer infrastructure on GitHub. Originally discovered in September 2025, it involves threat actors compromising legitimate developer accounts to inject malicious GitHub Actions automation workflows into software repositories. Attackers have been found to gain write access to repositories using stolen Personal Access Tokens (PATs) or credentials harvested from infostealer logs and dumps. Using the hijacked maintainer account, they push a malicious workflow file disguis...

Docker Fixes Critical Two-Year-Old Hub Flaw That Let One User Push Images as Another

10월 13, 2026
A flaw in Docker Hub, the registry where container images are published and downloaded, let one user push, pull, or delete images as another user. Docker fixed the flaw on September 30 and says it found no evidence that anyone exploited it. The flaw was in the feature that  converts a personal account  into an organization, Docker said in a  security advisory  on October 12. Conversion transferred the account's personal access tokens (PATs) to the user designated as the organization's owner. A PAT is used in place of a password in the registry, and the person who created each token can still use it. The access was limited to the registry. It did not reach the Docker Hub web interface, and it could not be used to change a password, email address, or two-factor settings, or to take over an account. Docker tracks the flaw as CVE-2026-105445 and rated it critical. The  CVE record  it published on October 13 gives the flaw a CVSS 4.0 score of 9.4. The ...
