ServiceNow Flaw Exploited to Gain Unauthorized Access to Customer Instances

ServiceNow Flaw Exploited to Gain Unauthorized Access to Customer Instances

Jun 10, 2026 Cyber Attack / Vulnerability
ServiceNow has warned about a security incident in which unknown threat actors exploited a flaw to obtain deeper unauthorized access to susceptible instances. "On June 5, 2026, ServiceNow applied a security update to hosted customer instances," the company revealed in an advisory that requires customer access. "The update concerned a security issue that could allow an unauthenticated user, in certain circumstances, to gain greater access to ServiceNow instances than intended." The security update makes changes to an endpoint configuration to limit this access to authenticated users. The security flaw currently does not have a CVE identifier. Details of the issue first emerged on Reddit. ServiceNow said it detected anomalous activity relating to the security issue, and that it observed evidence of successful queries of instance tables against a "subset of customers." Impacted customers have been notified, it added. "The security issue pertai...
ServiceNow Patches Critical AI Platform Flaw Allowing Unauthenticated User Impersonation

ServiceNow Patches Critical AI Platform Flaw Allowing Unauthenticated User Impersonation

Jan 13, 2026 Vulnerability / SaaS Security
ServiceNow has disclosed details of a now-patched critical security flaw impacting its ServiceNow artificial intelligence (AI) Platform that could enable an unauthenticated user to impersonate another user and perform arbitrary actions as that user. The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2025-12420 , carries a CVSS score of 9.3 out of 10.0. It has been codenamed BodySnatcher by AppOmni. "This issue [...] could enable an unauthenticated user to impersonate another user and perform the operations that the impersonated user is entitled to perform," the company said in an advisory released Monday. The shortcoming was addressed by ServiceNow on October 30, 2025, by deploying a security update to the majority of hosted instances, with the company also sharing the patches with ServiceNow partners and self-hosted customers. The following versions include a fix for CVE-2025-12420 - Now Assist AI Agents (sn_aia) - 5.1.18 or later and 5.2.19 or later Virtual Agent API (sn_va_as_ser...
ServiceNow AI Agents Can Be Tricked Into Acting Against Each Other via Second-Order Prompts

ServiceNow AI Agents Can Be Tricked Into Acting Against Each Other via Second-Order Prompts

Nov 19, 2025 AI Security / SaaS Security
Malicious actors can exploit default configurations in ServiceNow's Now Assist generative artificial intelligence (AI) platform and leverage its agentic capabilities to conduct prompt injection attacks. The second-order prompt injection, according to AppOmni, makes use of Now Assist's agent-to-agent discovery to execute unauthorized actions, enabling attackers to copy and exfiltrate sensitive corporate data, modify records, and escalate privileges. "This discovery is alarming because it isn't a bug in the AI; it's expected behavior as defined by certain default configuration options," said Aaron Costello, chief of SaaS Security Research at AppOmni. "When agents can discover and recruit each other, a harmless request can quietly turn into an attack, with criminals stealing sensitive data or gaining more access to internal company systems. These settings are easy to overlook." The attack is made possible because of agent discovery and agent-to-a...

ServiceNow Flaw CVE-2025-3648 Could Lead to Data Exposure via Misconfigured ACLs

ServiceNow Flaw CVE-2025-3648 Could Lead to Data Exposure via Misconfigured ACLs

Jul 10, 2025 Kerberos / Active Directory
A high-severity security flaw has been disclosed in ServiceNow's platform that, if successfully exploited, could result in data exposure and exfiltration. The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2025-3648 (CVSS score: 8.2), has been described as a case of data inference in Now Platform through conditional access control list (ACL) rules. It has been codenamed Count(er) Strike . "A vulnerability has been identified in the Now Platform that could result in data being inferred without authorization," ServiceNow said in a bulletin. "Under certain conditional access control list (ACL) configurations, this vulnerability could enable unauthenticated and authenticated users to use range query requests to infer instance data that is not intended to be accessible to them." Cybersecurity company Varonis, which discovered and reported the flaw in February 2024, said it could have been exploited by malicious actors to obtain unauthorized access to sensitive information, inclu...
