Attackers Compile khunt Inside Oracle to Turn SQL Injection Into Windows SYSTEM Access

Attackers Compile khunt Inside Oracle to Turn SQL Injection Into Windows SYSTEM Access

Aug 06, 2026 Database Security / Endpoint Security
Attackers broke into an organization's Oracle database through a SQL injection flaw in a public-facing web application, then installed a post-exploitation toolkit without writing an executable to disk. They fed Java source code to the database, let Oracle compile it into stored schema objects, and ran commands from inside the database engine. Huntress, which tracks the toolkit as khunt , investigated after credential-theft detections fired on July 27, 2026, and traced the chain to SYSTEM-level code execution on the underlying Windows server. The flaw sat in the application, where an autocomplete search field passed unvalidated input to the database over a Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) connection. The account behind that connection had enough privilege to create Java objects. No Oracle patch closes either the application flaw or the account privilege behind it. Finding the toolkit means hunting: search the Oracle installation for object names beginning Khunt, and SQL logs...

New cPanel Critical Flaw Could Let Hosting Customers Run SQL as Database Root

New cPanel Critical Flaw Could Let Hosting Customers Run SQL as Database Root

Aug 04, 2026 Vulnerability / Database Security
cPanel has patched a flaw that let an authenticated hosting customer execute SQL in the database's root context, crossing the privilege boundary between a cPanel account and the server's administrative database identity. It shipped in a targeted security release that closes two other routes past account boundaries. The database bug is tracked as CVE-2026-58048 (CVSS 4.0 score: 9.4) and affects all supported versions of cPanel & WHM, along with WP Squared. Reaching it requires a valid cPanel account and access to the MySQL/MariaDB feature. From there, the vendor says the account holder could execute arbitrary database commands with full administrative privileges. Depending on the operating system and database engine configuration, “this may extend to operating-system-level compromise.” cPanel patched CVE-2026-58048 in these builds: 11.110.0.137 11.118.0.71 11.126.0.78 11.134.0.48 11.136.0.32 138.1.6 for WP Squared Servers that cannot update immediately can ...

The update also resolves another high-severity flaw ( CVE-2026-48448 , CVSS score: 8.6) stemming from SQL injection that could pave the way for arbitrary file reads. "This update addresses critical vulnerabilities that could result in arbitrary code execution and arbitrary file system read," Adobe said in an advisory. The company noted that it's not aware of any of the flaws being exploited in the wild. Both shortcomings have been addressed in ACC v7: 7.4.3 build 9398 for W...
New wp2shell WordPress Core Flaw Lets Unauthenticated Attackers Run Code

New wp2shell WordPress Core Flaw Lets Unauthenticated Attackers Run Code

Jul 17, 2026 Vulnerability / Web Security
Updated July 18, 2026: the two flaws now carry CVE IDs, the full mechanism has been published, a persistent-object-cache condition has surfaced, and a working proof-of-concept is public. The story below reflects all of it. An anonymous HTTP request can run code on a WordPress site. The bug is in core, so a bare install with zero plugins is exploitable. Every 6.9 and 7.0 site was in range until Friday, when WordPress shipped 6.9.5 and 7.0.2 and enabled what it calls forced updates through its auto-update system. wp2shell is two bugs, not one, and both now carry CVE IDs. CVE-2026-63030 is the REST API batch-route confusion; CVE-2026-60137 is a SQL injection in WordPress core. Chained, they take an anonymous request all the way to code execution. Since Friday, the full mechanism has been published, and a working proof-of-concept has gone up on GitHub. Adam Kues at Assetnote, Searchlight Cyber's attack surface management arm, found the batch-route bug and reported it throug...

May 25, 2026 Vulnerability / Web Security
Threat actors are exploiting a recently disclosed critical security flaw in Ghost CMS to inject malicious JavaScript code with an aim to fuel ClickFix attacks. According to QiAnXin XLab, the activity involves the exploitation of CVE-2026-26980 (CVSS score: 9.4), an SQL injection vulnerability in Ghost's Content API that could allow an unauthenticated attacker to read arbitrary data from the database. The security flaw was addressed in February 2026 in version 6.19.1. The vulnerability was discovered by Anthropic using Claude. What makes the vulnerability severe is that it allows an attacker to gain access to a site's admin API key without permission, granting them the ability to poison the site by injecting malicious code. The admin API key can be used to invoke the admin API and can directly modify articles published on the content management system. The threat actor leveraged the security flaw to "obtain the target site's Admin API Key without authorizati...
