OpenAI to Show Ads in ChatGPT for Logged-In U.S. Adults on Free and Go Plans

OpenAI to Show Ads in ChatGPT for Logged-In U.S. Adults on Free and Go Plans

янв. 17, 2026 Artificial Intelligence / Data Privacy
OpenAI on Friday said it would start showing ads in ChatGPT to logged-in adult U.S. users in both the free and ChatGPT Go tiers in the coming weeks, as the artificial intelligence (AI) company expanded access to its low-cost subscription globally. "You need to know that your data and conversations are protected and never sold to advertisers," OpenAI said . "And we need to keep a high bar and give you control over your experience, so you see truly relevant, high-quality ads—and can turn off personalization if you want." The company has positioned advertising as a way to ensure that the benefits of artificial general intelligence – a term used to describe a stage in machine learning when an AI system can reach or surpass human-level intelligence – can be made more accessible to the masses. In addition, it can be "transformative" for small businesses and emerging brands trying to compete, it added. It also emphasized that ads do not influence responses...
Cybercriminals Exploit X’s Grok AI to Bypass Ad Protections and Spread Malware to Millions

Cybercriminals Exploit X's Grok AI to Bypass Ad Protections and Spread Malware to Millions

сент. 04, 2025 Artificial Intelligence / Malware
Cybersecurity researchers have flagged a new technique that cybercriminals have adopted to bypass social media platform X's malvertising protections and propagate malicious links using its artificial intelligence (AI) assistant Grok. The findings were highlighted by Nati Tal, head of Guardio Labs, in a series of posts on X. The technique has been codenamed Grokking. The approach is designed to get around restrictions imposed by X in Promoted Ads that allow users to only include text, images, or videos, and subsequently amplify them to a broader audience, attracting hundreds of thousands of impressions through paid promotion. To achieve this, malvertisers have been found to run video card-promoted posts with adult content as bait, with the spurious link hidden in the "From:" metadata field below the video player by taking advantage of the fact that it's not scanned by the social media platform. It's worth mentioning here that the "From:" field is t...

Malicious Ads on Google Target Chinese Users with Fake Messaging Apps

янв. 26, 2024 Malvertising / Phishing-as-a-service
Chinese-speaking users have been targeted by malicious Google ads for restricted messaging apps like Telegram as part of an ongoing malvertising campaign. "The threat actor is abusing Google advertiser accounts to create malicious ads and pointing them to pages where unsuspecting users will download Remote Administration Trojan (RATs) instead," Malwarebytes' Jérôme Segura  said  in a Thursday report. "Such programs give an attacker full control of a victim's machine and the ability to drop additional malware." It's worth noting that the activity, codenamed  FakeAPP , is a continuation of a  prior attack wave  that targeted Hong Kong users searching for messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram on search engines in late October 2023. The latest iteration of the campaign also adds messaging app LINE to the list of messaging apps, redirecting users to bogus websites hosted on Google Docs or Google Sites. The Google infrastructure is used to embed link...
