Critical cPanel Authentication Vulnerability Identified — Update Your Server Immediately

cPanel has released security updates to address a security issue impacting various authentication paths that could allow an attacker to obtain access to the control panel software. The problem affects all currently supported versions of cPanel and WebHost Manager (WHM), according to an alert published by WebPros on Tuesday. It does not have an official identifier. The issue has been addressed in the following versions - 11.86.0.41 11.110.0.97 11.118.0.63 11.126.0.54 11.130.0.19 11.132.0.29 11.136.0.5 11.134.0.20 "If your server is not running a supported version of cPanel that is eligible for this update, it is highly recommended that you work toward updating your server as soon as possible, as it may also be affected," cPanel noted. LA-based domain name registrar and hosting company Namecheap warned its customers on Monday that cybercriminals have begun accessing their accounts by using the list of credentials gathered from third-party websites. The Hosting company confirmed the security breach and informed that the hackers have compromised some of its customers’ accounts, probably using the " biggest-ever " password theft via Russian Hackers that disclosed list of 1.2 billion usernames and passwords compiled by Russian CyberVor Gang . RUSSIAN GROUP BEHIND THE ATTACK - CYBERVOR The CyberVor Gang allegedly stolen a vast cache of compromised login credentials for " 1.2 billion " accounts, belonging to over half a billion e-mail addresses, warned Hold Security , a Milwaukee-based security company that tracks stolen data on underground cybercriminal forums.
