Popular Flight Tracker Flightradar24 Suffers Data Breach

Popular Flight Tracker Flightradar24 Suffers Data Breach

Jun 20, 2018
One of the world's most popular flight tracking services Flightradar24 , which shows real-time aircraft flight information on a map, has suffered a massive data breach that may have compromised email addresses and hashed passwords for more than 230,000 customers. Without revealing any information about the breach publically via their blog or social media accounts, Flightradar24 started sending out emails earlier this week with a password reset link, asking them to change their passwords. The incomplete reference to suddenly announced data breach incident via emails and providing a unique password reset link to each user caused some customers to suspect that they have been a target of a phishing attack. However, later the company confirmed the breach while responding to its customers’ queries on the official forum and Twitter , saying that the breach notifications they have received via emails are legitimate and that neither payment nor personal information has been compr...
How NSA successfully Broke Trillions of Encrypted Connections

How NSA successfully Broke Trillions of Encrypted Connections

Oct 16, 2015
Yes, it seems like the mystery has been solved. We are aware of the United States National Security Agency (NSA) powers to break almost unbreakable encryption used on the Internet and intercept nearly Trillions of Internet connections – thanks to the revelations made by whistleblower Edward Snowden in 2013. However, what we are not aware of is exactly how did the NSA apparently intercept VPN connections, and decrypt SSH and HTTPS, allowing the agency to read hundreds of Millions of personal, private emails from persons around the globe. Also Read:  Top Best Password Managers . Now, computer scientists Alex Halderman and Nadia Heninger have presented a paper at the ACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security that advances the most plausible theory as to how the NSA broke some of the most widespread encryption used on the Internet. According to the paper, the NSA has exploited common implementations of the Diffie-Hellman key exchange algorithm – a co...

Oct 06, 2011
GPU cracks 6 character password in 4 seconds An nVidia GeForce GT220 graphics card, which costs about £30, is capable of cracking strong passwords in a matter of hours. Security experts were able to crack a  6 character password in 4 seconds, a 7 character password in less than 5 minutes, and 8 character password in four hours. " People have worked out that the processing power of graphics cards, due to the architecture of the chips, is more powerful than a normal processor for doing certain tasks ," said Neil Lathwood, IT director at UKFast.
Dashlane Discloses Brute-Force Attack, Encrypted Vaults of Fewer Than 20 Users Downloaded

Dashlane Discloses Brute-Force Attack, Encrypted Vaults of Fewer Than 20 Users Downloaded

Jun 02, 2026 Identity Security / Data Protection
Password manager Dashlane has disclosed that "fewer than" 20 users on the personal subscription plan had their encrypted vaults downloaded following a brute-force attack launched by an unknown party. On May 31, 2026, the company said an "external" threat actor launched a brute-force attack against certain Dashlane user accounts with the aim of breaking two-factor authentication (2FA) protections and allowing them to register new devices on existing user accounts. Exactly how many users were targeted remains unknown, but Dashlane said the high volume of attempts on those accounts triggered temporary account suspensions and authentication issues due to its built-in security controls. Although access to the accounts has since been restored, the company has now revealed that the attackers were successful in a handful of cases, enabling them to download a copy of the encrypted vaults belonging to less than 20 personal plan users. "We have directly notif...

World’s largest Bitcoin Poker website hacked, 42000 user passwords leaked

Dec 20, 2013
World’s largest Bitcoin poker website ' SealsWithClubs ' has been compromised and around 42,000 users' credentials are at risk. Seals With Club  has issued a  Mandatory Password Reset   warning to their users, according to a statement published on the website. The service admitted their database had been compromised and revealed that the data center used until November was breached, resulting 42,020 hashed password theft. " Passwords were salted and hashed per user, but to be safe every user MUST change their password when they next log in. Please do so at your earliest opportunity. If your Seals password was used for any other purpose you should reset those passwords too as a precaution. " and " Transfers may be disabled for a short period of time.". Seals With Clubs used SHA1 hash functions to encrypt the passwords, but SHA1 is outdated and easy to crack if not salted. ' StacyM ', a user then posted the hashed passwords on a web forum o...

Hostinger Suffers Data Breach – Resets Password For 14 Million Users

Aug 26, 2019
Popular web hosting provider Hostinger has been hit by a massive data breach, as a result of which the company has reset passwords for all customers as a precautionary measure. In a blog post published on Sunday, Hostinger revealed that "an unauthorized third party" breached one of its servers and gained access to "hashed passwords and other non-financial data" associated with its millions of customers. The incident occurred on August 23 when unknown hackers found an authorization token on one of the company's servers and used it to gain access to an internal system API, without requiring any username and password. Immediately after the breach discovery, Hostinger restricted the vulnerable system, making this access no longer available, and contacted the respective authorities. "On August 23rd, 2019 we have received informational alerts that one of our servers has been accessed by an unauthorized third party," Hostinger said. "This...

Atlassian's HipChat Hacked — Users' Data May Have Been Compromised

Apr 25, 2017
Atlassian's group chat platform HipChat is notifying its users of a data breach after some unknown hacker or group of hackers broke into one of its servers over the weekend and stole a significant amount of data, including group chat logs. What Happened? According to a security notice published on the company's website today, a vulnerability in a "popular third-party" software library used by its HipChat.com service allowed hackers to break into its server and access customer account information. However, HipChat did not say exactly which programming blunder the hackers exploited to get into the HipChat cloud server. What type of Information? Data accessed by the hackers include user account information such as customers' names, email addresses and hashed password information. Besides information, attackers may have obtained metadata from HipChat "rooms" or groups, including room name and room topic. While metadata is not as critical as d...
Israeli Researcher Cracked Over 3,500 Wi-Fi Networks in Tel Aviv City

Israeli Researcher Cracked Over 3,500 Wi-Fi Networks in Tel Aviv City

Oct 28, 2021
Over 70% of Wi-Fi networks from a sample size of 5,000 were hacked with "relative ease" in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, highlighting how unsecure Wi-Fi passwords can become a gateway for serious threats to individuals, small businesses, and enterprises alike. CyberArk security researcher Ido Hoorvitch, who used a Wi-Fi sniffing equipment costing about $50 to collect 5,000 network hashes for the study,  said  "the process of sniffing Wi-Fis and the subsequent cracking procedures was a very accessible undertaking in terms of equipment, costs and execution." The new Wi-Fi attack builds on  previous findings  by Jens "atom" Steube in 2018 that involves capturing what's called the PMKIDs associated with a client (aka SSID) in order to attempt a brute-force attack using password recovery tools like hashcat. PMKID is a  unique key identifier  used by the access point (AP) to keep track of the pre-shared key — i.e., pairwise master key aka PMK — being u...
Account protection status warning scares Facebook Users !

Account protection status warning scares Facebook Users !

Dec 29, 2010
Over the last few weeks we have been contacted by a number of members of the  our  Facebook page , concerned by a message they saw on Facebook, warning them that their account protection was " very low ". With fake anti-virus (also known as scareware) attacks becoming an ever-growing problem (they attempt to trick you into believing your computer has a security problem when it doesn't), some security-conscious Facebook users might worry that this is a similarly-styled assault, designed to scare you into taking perhaps unwise actions. Certainly the warning message gives you the impression that there's something seriously wrong with how you have defended your Facebook account. I must admit I was surprised to see the message appear on my own Facebook account as I have been quite fastidious in my security settings on the social network. So, I was curious to find out just  why  Facebook believed that my account protection status was "very low", and what they t...
FortiBleed Targeted FortiGate Firewalls in 110 Million-Credential Harvesting Operation

FortiBleed Targeted FortiGate Firewalls in 110 Million-Credential Harvesting Operation

Jun 23, 2026 Initial Access Broker / Firewall Security
A Russian-speaking initial access broker (IAB) driven by financial gain is assessed to be behind a large-scale credential-harvesting operation known as FortiBleed that has targeted over 430,000 FortiGate firewalls globally. The campaign , active since February 2026, involves collecting credential lists, searching for exposed services, brute-forcing accessible systems, and deploying bespoke sniffers on compromised firewalls. "Once deployed, these sniffers capture cleartext and hashed credentials from traffic passing through compromised devices," SOCRadar said [PDF] in a fresh report. "The actors then crack, validate, and reuse the credentials against Active Directory domains and other exposed services." Central to the operation is a Golang-based tool called FortigateSniffer that takes advantage of the FortiOS built-in diagnostic command -diagnose sniffer packet to passively capture authentication traffic from the infected appliances. Appearing in both Window...

Android Network Toolkit (ANTI) Review - Pentest at the push of a button

Jan 23, 2012
This Post reviews the newly released ANTI3 version. We've received a platinum account of ANTI3, before its official release, and this is our review: Recently White-Hat Hacker, Itzhak "Zuk" Avraham , the founder of zImperium unveiled its new app in Blackhat / Defcon19, introducing a new concept where both home users and local IT can have the same tools to, at the push of a button, check for their security faults. The new zImperium product, named Android Network Toolkit (or in short - ANTI), allows professional penetration testers, ethical hackers, IT and home users to scan for security issues in their network. In a few simple clicks ANTI covers the most advanced attack vectors in order to check for vulnerabilities, even those that up until now could only be performed by top-notch penetration testers. This means that while you might think that you’re safe because you have a firewall on, with ANTI you can check and prove it (or add it to your penetration testing repor...

Additional Supply Chain Vulnerabilities Uncovered in AMI MegaRAC BMC Software

Feb 01, 2023 Server and Cloud Security
Two more supply chain security flaws have been disclosed in AMI MegaRAC Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) software, nearly two months after  three security vulnerabilities  were brought to light in the same product. Firmware security firm Eclypsium  said  the two shortcomings were held back until now to provide AMI additional time to engineer appropriate mitigations. The issues, collectively tracked as  BMC&C , could act as a springboard for cyber attacks, enabling threat actors to obtain remote code execution and unauthorized device access with superuser permissions. The two new flaws in question are as follows - CVE-2022-26872  (CVSS score: 8.3) - Password reset interception via API CVE-2022-40258  (CVSS score: 5.3) - Weak password hashes for Redfish and API Specifically, MegaRAC has been found to use the MD5 hashing algorithm with a global salt for older devices, or  SHA-512 with per user salts  on newer appliances, pot...

Critical Unpatched RCE Flaw Disclosed in LG Network Storage Devices

Apr 18, 2018
If you have installed a network-attached storage device manufactured by LG Electronics, you should take it down immediately, read this article carefully and then take appropriate action to protect your sensitive data. A security researcher has revealed complete technical details of an unpatched critical remote command execution vulnerability in various LG NAS device models that could let attackers compromise vulnerable devices and steal data stored on them. LG's Network Attached Storage (NAS) device is a dedicated file storage unit connected to a network that allows users to store and share data with multiple computers. Authorized users can also access their data remotely over the Internet. The vulnerability has been discovered by the researcher at privacy advocate firm VPN Mentor, the same company that last month revealed severe flaws in three popular VPNs —HotSpot Shield, PureVPN, and ZenMate VPN. The LG NAS flaw is a pre-authenticated remote command injection vulnera...
