Hackers Deface website of former British cabinet minister

Aug 26, 2012
Hackers claiming allegiance to the Anonymous movement of cyber-rebels have defaced the website of a former British cabinet minister in solidarity with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. " If the reason ... is revenge for Assange's treatment, it's weird to attack me," Hain said in comments carried by the BBC. "They have not done their research because I have supported Assange and opposed his extradition. " Hain's website was defaced Saturday by a group calling itself Anonymous UK, whose logo consisted of a dark, headless suit against a Union Jack. The group made a variety of allegations against the 62-year-old Labour Party politician, before adding: " The UK's persecution of Julian Assange will NOT be forgotten ." Assange's fight to avoid extradition took a dramatic turn in June, when Assange fled to the Ecuadorean Embassy seeking refuge. The ensuing standoff sparked a diplomatic crisis between Britain and Ecuador and could potentially drag on for months

Making Sense of Operational Technology Attacks: The Past, Present, and Future

Mar 21, 2024Operational Technology / SCADA Security
When you read reports about cyber-attacks affecting operational technology (OT), it's easy to get caught up in the hype and assume every single one is sophisticated. But are OT environments all over the world really besieged by a constant barrage of complex cyber-attacks? Answering that would require breaking down the different types of OT cyber-attacks and then looking back on all the historical attacks to see how those types compare.  The Types of OT Cyber-Attacks Over the past few decades, there has been a growing awareness of the need for improved cybersecurity practices in IT's lesser-known counterpart, OT. In fact, the lines of what constitutes a cyber-attack on OT have never been well defined, and if anything, they have further blurred over time. Therefore, we'd like to begin this post with a discussion around the ways in which cyber-attacks can either target or just simply impact OT, and why it might be important for us to make the distinction going forward. I know how to get Julian Assange out of the Embassy

I know how to get Julian Assange out of the Embassy

Let's forget the political mumbo jumbo and posturing going on between countries about the release of Julian Assange. It is time to approach this in a "Sho-Gun" switch-a-roo style and get this over with. If not, we are going to be reading endless editorials and opinions about who is doing what, and what is doing who. Ugggh. With the help of the Ecuadorian Administration and some well planned orchestration with the group Anonymous, we can do this. Let's let the Guy Fawkes mask slide us into victory with my new handy dandy plan that is sure to get the by now, haggard and worried Assange, into Ecuadorian freedom and fame. It is simple really. We need a call to arms, a ready army of Anons that can be recruited at a moments notice to storm the embassy. Just stop for a minute and picture it. Hundreds, no thousands, of masked Anons, wearing black, storming the embassy at night and throwing a wig on Assange and, of course, a mask (I am sure he has one) and moving him out into the crowd

The website of  the Moscow district court that sentenced three members of the band Pussy Riot to jail has been attacked by hackers posting anti-Putin messages. As well as the anti-Putin slogan Anonymous Russia posted an appeal for the band's release as well as a video clip of one of the band's songs. The slogan read: " Putin's thieving gang is plundering our country, wake up comrades! " In a message posted on the website, the hackers said the in Russian that :  We are American group Anonymous. We don't forget and we don't forgive. Justice system has to be transparent. Another caption called for the release of the band's jailed members - Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 22, Marina Alyokhina, 24, and Yekaterina Samutsevich, 30. Jude Marina Syrova said that the women had grossly violated public order and " deeply insulted the faith of the believers with their disrespectful criminal act " when they took over a church pulpit in Moscow's Christ the Savior cathed

Julian Assange - The most Fuckable Man on the Planet

Aug 19, 2012
Julian Assange made a speech today from the balcony of the Ecuadorian Embassy in London and I felt a primal urge brought on by the fact that this man, in all his manly glory, has stuck his proverbial neck out for the essence of life. Truth and Justice. He is a handsome and articulate man, fighting for the basic rights of every human being on the planet. What could be more sexy? Putting aside husbands, lovers, friends, and professional media, he can Wik my Leaks anytime he wants. Julian started by reminding us that he is there because he can't be elsewhere. He blended his thanks for Ecuador's stand for justice with the announcement of an emergency meeting of Latin American countries next Friday specifically to address his situation and to defend the right of asylum. He made a straight forward statement that the United States must return to the values it was founded on and " Obama must do the right thing ." Bradley Manning must be released and " he is a hero and example to all

Anonymous Hackers Help WikiLeaks to get Syria Files

Jul 10, 2012
Just after WikiLeaks began releasing the data from the Syria Files, Anonymous hacktivists claimed responsibility for accessing the information and passing it on to the whistleblower organization. Anonymous supplies WikiLeaks with over two million e-mails from Syrian political figures, ministries and companies. According to Report, Anonymous Syria, Antisec and Peoples Liberation Front breached domains and servers in Syria since February, downloaded data over weeks and handed them to WikiLeaks. In February, the hacker team had "worked day and night" to create a massive breach of multiple domains and dozens of servers inside Syria, the statement claimed. In its intro to the e-mail cache, WikiLeaks indicated that they came from 678,000 individual e-mail addresses and 680 domains, including ones belonging to Syria's Ministries of Presidential Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Information, Transport and Culture. At least 400,000 of the e-mails are in Arabic and 68,000 are in

The Truth About Julian Assange And Wikileaks By: Ann Smith , Executive Editor The Hacker News Last night I had the privilege of speaking to Christine Assange , the mother of Julian Assange  who has been a reluctant hostage of a global political war among the United States, the UK, and Sweden and of all places Ecuador. Christine was very informative and thorough in explaining the history and current events regarding the heinous manner in which her son has been treated for supporting one of the most sacred rights of man this being right to have and freely provide access to truthful information. Still, facts and information do not cover the love and concern a mother feels for her child. As a mother myself, I felt Christine's immense and intense worry for her son's safety and his life. As a citizen of the world who carries many of the same concerns we all do of political strife, injustice, world war, poverty, and economic failure, she is above all a mother. I respect Chr

FBI actually leak Stratfor e-mails just to bust Julian Assange?

Mar 14, 2012
FBI actually leak Stratfor e-mails just to bust Julian Assange ? Internal emails disclosed by Anonymous and WikiLeaks suggest that Stratfor, a private intelligence firm working with the U.S. Justice Department. But The FBI turned a computer hacker to build its case against a group of people it alleges are responsible for a string of audacious attacks that captured the personal details of more than one million people. Hector Monsegur, known as Sabu, leader of the Anonymous affiliated hacking group LulzSec, was arrested by FBI agents in his New York apartment on Monday, June 7, 2011, at 10:15PM. On August 15, Monsegur pleaded guily to several counts of hacking and identity theft.  Seeing that Xavier 'Sabu' Monsegur had apparently been working for the FBI for the last couple of months, it isn't too far-fetched to think that the leaks of the Stratfor e-mails given to Wikileaks by Anonymous was nothing more than a tactic to entrap Wikileaks and build a case against Assange

'The Consortium' Just Called the Movement a 'SLUT '

Mar 14, 2012
' The Consortium ' Just Called the Movement a ' SLUT ' I'm disappointed. At the pinnacle of one of the greatest and most innovative political movements the world has ever seen, you have the new hackers group named "Consortium" bringing the movement to a new low and quite frankly, an embarrassment. When the world is finally revolting against tyranny, corruption and a disgraceful abuse of human rights, the group Consortium chooses to hack into a porn site and stole Users identity and credit card numbers of men and women, mostly who are serving in the military. ( List of Military Emails , Used in Porn Site to sign up is available in our last related article) May I ask Consortium to what end does this serve? There have been depictions of a sexual nature as old as civilization, such as, the Venus figurines and sexual rock art since prehistoric times. Using the excuse that the site was poorly secured, is no excuse at all for demeaning and demoralizing people using the

#AntiSec hackers deface Panda Security site to protest LulzSec arrests Hackers aligned with Anonymous took credit on Wednesday for an attack on Panda Security's website shortly after charges were announced against five of the hacking collective's alleged members. Over 25 websites related to Panda Security have been hacked tonight by Antisec. Emails and md5 passwords have leaked to public. Panda was accused by anonymous for helping the FBI to lurk anonymous members. The attacks are believed to be in retaliation for the recent arrests made by the FBI. Yesterday biggest story of Hacking world exposed that, The world's most notorious computer hacker turned against his comrades because he did not want to go to prison and leave behind his two children. Monsegur, who has been described as the ringleader of LulzSec, and an 'influential member' of Anonymous, pleaded guilty to a dozen hacking-related charges last summer - crimes which carry a maximum sentence of 124 y

WikiLeaks suspect Bradley Manning nominated for Nobel Peace Prize 2012

Feb 27, 2012
WikiLeaks suspect Bradley Manning nominated for Nobel Peace Prize 2012 A spokesman for the Nobel Peace Prize jury says 231 nominations have been submitted for this year's award, with publicly disclosed candidates including WikiLeaks whistle-blower Bradley Manning may be among the hundreds of nominees for the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize, rights activists say. Bradley Manning, a 23-year-old Army intelligence analyst, is accused of leaking a video showing the killing of civilians, including two Reuters journalists, by a US Apache helicopter crew in Iraq. He is also charged with sharing the documents known as the Afghan War Diary, the Iraq War Logs, and embarrassing US diplomatic cables, with the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks. The video and documents have illuminated such issues as the true number and cause of civilian casualties in Iraq, human rights abuses by U.S.-funded contractors and foreign militaries, and the role that spying and bribes play in international diplomacy. #WikiLeaks publishes millions of Hacked Stratfor E-mails #gifiles WikiLeaks today began publishing more than five million confidential e-mails from US-based Intelligence firm Stratfor.  About 5.5m emails obtained from the servers of Stratfor, a US-based intelligence gathering firm with about 300,000 subscribers and has been likened to a shadow CIA. The emails, snatched by hackers, could unmask sensitive sources and throw light on the murky world of intelligence-gathering by the company known as Stratfor, which counts Fortune 500 companies among its subscribers. Stratfor in a statement shortly after midnight said the release of its stolen emails was an attempt to silence and intimidate it. The Online organisation claims to have proof of the firm's confidential links to large corporations, such as Bhopal's Dow Chemical Co and Lockheed Martin and government agencies, including the US Department of Homeland Security, the US Marines and the US Defense Intelligence Agency. Wiki
